So we are supposed to bring in Gagne in the 7th. No we should not do that. They should bring him in at the most crucial point of the game. Happened to be the 7th today.
Very easily. He's one of your three best hitters, and it's probably the only time all day he'll have a chance to drive someone in. I'd be furious if they bunted with him.
No more deflating than that no-no by Verlander, and they came back to win that series. From the other side, Tuesday was supposed to be a "watershed" game for the Brewers, and they followed it up with last night's stinker.
Think I'll take a late lunch and catch the start of this one at the sports bar. Hopefully the Brewers do just what the Cubs did last night--prove there isn't momentum from day-to-day in baseball.
I was actually encouraged--not by the performance, but by the fact that he reached 100 pitches and didn't wince or need to be taken out early. He said he felt alright after the game. It seems like every few games his velocity is a bit down, anyway. I'm willing to contribute the control issues to not pitching in 10 days.
Yes... Also I don't see the point of starting Counsell twice a week. I'd prefer they not do it and instead let guys try to work their way out of their struggles. Counsell is just fine spelling guys, but only when they need it. I don't want to see any more names pulled out of a hat to determine who's sitting.
