  1. I'd actually say I've been pleased with Gagne so far. His only bad outing came in that miserable weather in Chicago.
  2. Why not ride the superior defensive player's hot offensive steak and try to get the duel benefit? You won't hear any disagreement from me there. I'd have Hart in center and Gross in right.
  3. Kevin Mench, Chris Shelton, Xavier Nady, and hoards of others show every year that a hot start does not make a full season. The Brewers were hurt last year because they gave Mench starts against righties. Nothing in Kapler's career would suggest he'll keep this up for much longer. It's not like I'm saying Gross should be playing full time.
  4. Unless you look at the facts. Gross is superior against right handers.
  5. Playing time should be based on a player's entire career, not 30 plate appearances.
  6. Does anyone else have a sinking feeling that Ned's going to give in to the "hot hand" and start Kapler over Gross? He did the same thing with Mench last year.
  7. Hearing people say Jeff Weaver is better than Dave Bush makes me want to pull my hair out. All you need to do is look at career numbers.
  8. Weaver might be better than McClung as a long man, but in all likelihood, so would Zach Jackson or Chris Narveson.
  9. I never understand bunting with a runner in scoring position. When a hit will probably score a runner anyway, why would you waste an out? I don't even like when a pitcher bunts with a runner on second unless a runner is also on first and you're trying to avoid a double play.
  10. Is this supposed to be a dig? I don't get it...
  11. Anything with raspberries. I usually make one with raspberries, strawberries and a little bit of peaches. Also a "splash" of lemon juice adds a nice kick.
  12. Yep, Hart should definitely be the center fielder next year, which is why it doesn't make much sense to be stubborn and not move him over to center for a game here and there. As far as what to do when Yo and Cameron come back, I'd cut McClung and option Gwynn to the minors.
  13. McClung likely only made the team because Yo got injured. He'll likely be gone in a week anyway, so no big deal.
  14. Kapler has had eight plate appearances against righties this year.
  15. I don't know that I'd call it a need, but there are definitely times where it would be nice to have a second capable lefty. I'm guessing it's decent odds that Stetter or Choate would be the next reliever out of Nashville (although isn't Choate injured, or am I imagining that?) in the event of an injury.
  16. It's doubtful that the knee kept him out of the game today. He was warming up in the bullpen at one point.
  17. Took him long enough.
  18. But it's really not Gross' fault the team plays him out of position when their everyday right fielder would be the better option for center. Gross is just fine defensively as a right fielder. But yeah, Kapler has been impressive so far. He's earned his spot on the team for the foreseeable future.
  19. I doubt Hammond takes the job unless Kohl promised to stay out of the way. If Kohl wanted to keep meddling he'd just have hired Babcock.
  20. Not going to act as though I know much about this guy, but I'm sure glad it wasn't Billy King or Babcock. People seem to like the hire, so that's probably a good sign.
  21. Someone pointed out in another thread that Prince only had two homers after 18 games last season. Not a big deal yet.
  22. The Brewers saw the Reds' two best starters, while the Reds missed the Brewers' best three. Anyway, like some have said, the Brewers don't match up well with the Reds but should win more games.
