  1. Yeah, this is about right. http://www.theonion.com/articles/confused-milwaukee-bucks-have-no-idea-what-to-do-a,19328/
  2. Who rushes the court when they beat the #15 team?
  3. So that's 2 people saying their sources say exonerated, one person whose reliable source says upheld.
  4. *Hitting refresh on this page approximately every 20 seconds*
  5. Ha. His source is the fact that his friend's uncle is Johnny Narron.
  6. Yeah doesn't seem good. I would have to assume if he was exonerated they would wait until he was actually in camp.
  7. Still, how could MLB just stay silent if Braun isn't suspended? Don't they have to speak for the leak?
  8. Yeah, that's exactly why I think Greinke would warrant a higher contract than Weaver at this time... Because he's even closer to free agency than Weaver. A player's demands will/should go up as he gets closer to free agency.
  9. A crude look at this tells us that isn't the case. Greinke WAR 2008: 4.9 2009: 9.3 2010: 5.1 2011: 3.9 (Would have been right around 5 again without the basketball injury) Total: 23.2 Weaver WAR 2008: 3.4 2009: 3.8 2010: 5.8 2011: 5.6 Total: 18.6 Verlander WAR 2008: 3.4 2009: 8.3 2010: 6.4 2011: 7.0 Total: 25.1 Hernandez WAR 2008: 3.7 2009: 6.8 2010: 6.2 2011: 5.5 Total: 22.2 And just for kicks and giggles, here are two more set to reach free agency with Greinke Cole Hamels WAR 2008: 4.4 2009: 3.6 2010: 3.7 2011: 4.9 Total: 16.6 Matt Cain WAR 2008: 3.7 2009: 3.3 2010: 3.7 2011: 5.2 Total: 15.9 I definitely wouldn't say Greinke is clearly better, but he definitely belongs in the conversation. Also, I know you said without 2009, but that's hard to just say. It happened, and none of these pitchers put up a season as good as that one (including Verlander, who won the MVP last year). As far as Hamels and Cain, it's pretty clear that Greinke has been better than them. It's likely that Greinke would be considered the top free agent pitcher next off-season, and that means he'd break 100, even 110 mil on the open market in all likelihood. If I were him, I'd ask for more than Weaver's $85 million, both because he's been better the last 4 years, and more because he's closer to free agency than Weaver was.
  10. Watch absolutely nothing happen today now. They're just trying to mess with us even more.
  11. I thought Braun wasn't supposed to arrive until tomorrow.
  12. I hated the fact that Moneyball didn't have a second of the amateur draft. That was easily my favorite part of the book, but I also thought it was possibly THE thing a reader would take away from it. It was baffling to me that they could leave that out.
  13. It sounds like Melvin may actually make a run at it before the end of Spring Training, if you believe TH. He was mentioning all the top pitchers who've signed the last couple years as a barometer. If it's in line with those who have signed before hitting free agency, it will be a good deal.
  14. I thought Gasser would average 10 ppg this year. This is the guy who had a triple double in a conference game last year... as a Freshman? He had a nice game against Penn St. for sure, but he's disappeared quite often this year. I thought he looked aggressive offensively last year, and we've hardly seen that from him at all this season. Gasser, Bruesewitz, and Brust have all been disappointing this season.
  15. As we've been saying for weeks, this is all just bizarre.
  16. Okay, thanks. Gross.
  17. Burnett had much better peripherals than Morris did when he was traded to Pittsburgh, as well.
  18. It's pretty telling that the first place I check each day for news on Braun is this thread.
  19. I can understand him being upset about the NTC thing, but at the same time, his representation is blowing a lot of hot air as well. From that USA Today article linked in TH's blog post: "He's going to lose a lot of money; the question is whether it's seven figures or eight figures," said Johnson, who accused the Wasserman Group of reneging after promising at least $1 million in damages before the mediation hearing. "There's long-term damage to his career. He wasn't even in position to be marketed as a closer last winter. They really (messed) with his career in a monumental way." Okay, buddy. He wasn't in position to be marketed as a closer after half a season as a setup guy? He CHOSE to accept arbitration. He wasn't in position to be marketed as a closer, because nobody wanted to give him a big multi-year deal with a guarantee to close. That has nothing to do with the fact that he set up one of the league's best closers last year, that has to do with the fact that he's not nearly as good as he used to be.
  20. He was actually decent last year. He was basically the same pitcher as Ivan Nova, who Yankee fans love. They just hated Burnett because of his salary. This is a pretty nice move for Pittsburgh. Getting out of that division, and especially that stadium, should really help him.
  21. Very underrated career. The comparison that was making the rounds yesterday on Twitter is that Cameron had a higher career WAR than Kirby Puckett. He was still a very valuable player in his years here.
  22. That would obviously be huge if Braddock could return to form, or even close to what he was. Hopefully he can get everything back on track.
