  1. Would have thought they'd non-tender Kottaras as well. I'd like them to non-tender Loe, McGehee, and Parra. If they want to bring back any at a lower rate, fine. I bet they'll tender all of them, though.
  2. If only we would play Green, Gamel, Peralta, Rivas, Shafer, Fiers, we would win at payroll Sorry if some of us would rather find out what we have in Green and Gamel while they're cheap, have money to build a bullpen and a bench, and have flexibility to make a run at a Greinke extension.
  3. It's because they know the club only has limited resources and they're spending a large amount on an aging, no-defense player.
  4. Ramirez isn't a defensive upgrade over anyone. And I don't understand the concept that Ramirez will be insurance in case Green or Gamel struggle. Green won't even be given the chance to struggle.
  5. Three years. Gross. How many first basemen is DM trying to acquire?
  6. Yeah, considering the Cards' budget and the fact they can absorb it if he is injured, I like this move for them.
  7. He knew about the test results and still made his whole speech after winning the MVP. Yikes.
  8. They gave Joe Nathan a two year deal to close. I forgot about Nathan. It seems so long ago! I still can't figure out why they would want Casey, unless they figure to get him for next to nothing. I don't think it would be wise to move him now, it would be trading at his lowest value. Unless, of course, they offer something of value for him. Giving him away for peanuts right now would be very unwise. I was hoping they'd DFA him, so peanuts would qualify as a pleasant surprise in my eyes.
  9. Where's the $130 million payroll coming from?
  10. My exact thought. Finally placing an emphasis on defense.
  11. He still had a great walk rate, which has been a strength of his for the last several years. It shouldn't be a big loss or anything, but I wouldn't have minded him back for a couple million bucks.
  12. Foregone conclusion, no. Likely that he'd turn it down? Definitely, or he wouldn't have offered it. I fully expected him to reject it.
  13. No way. If he thought K-Rod would accept, he'd have never offered.
  14. The Brewers released someone in this way a couple years ago... I want to say Claudio Vargas?
  15. I think he did test the market...and didn't like what he was hearing. Good point.
  16. Wow. So the guy who was whining about not closing during a playoff run won't even test the market as a closer. This really sucks. To top it off, I can't stand watching him--so many heart attack outings. No draft picks. Good things to come from this could be McGehee and Loe's non-tendering, and avoiding an A-Ram mistake.
  17. Oof. Didn't see K-Rod accepted. Well, so much for this anyway.
  18. I don't hate Ramirez or anything. I just don't understand why the Brewers would spend their limited resources on him when they have much greater needs. They could have a solid platoon at third between Green and any random lefty-masher, and it would be cheap. They could spend their money at shortstop, fill out their bullpen nicely, and still have room to add payroll during the season.
  19. It's great for a 3B, but he can't play 3B. He should be a 1B.
  20. Wow, why would they even consider paying someone like him 15 mil a year? He's a first baseman playing third base, and he'll be three seasons removed from his last great offensive season. I wouldn't pay him 20 mil for two years.
  21. Why on earth is a trade out of the question to TH? Yuni cannot be an option.
  22. A better idea would be to not sign him at all. Refocus the effort and money on trading for a shortstop.
