  1. Gennett to Arizona? Or is Brandon Drury going to be the everyday 2B?
  2. 2017....Luis Valbuena.
  3. This topic actually makes me sick. I understand its a good idea to look at all facets and possibilities of ways to win, but in no way should the Brewers perform this "trade to win now" theory. Now quite frankly, I think we all know it will not happen. 3and2 has a good point but I do not see alot of these young guys playing until September call ups and 2018. Once again, I think we will see some young surprises these year, and my money is on Santana to put up all star caliber numbers and possibly Broxton too. I also see a darkhorse playing 3rd next year that we would of never guessed would be the 3rd baseman as of today.
  4. You think he cares? You think he vetoed because he thought the Rangers were a better chance to win the World Series? No that isn't why he vetoed. You damn right I think he cares. Who? Simply, who wouldn't want to play in a World Series? You can't tell me he doesn't second guess that decision. Hell, he would cash an extra $400,000 check when the Indians win the WS. And Yes, the tribe is going to win the WS.
  5. Slightly off topic, but this is why I don't want the Brewers to have the Khris Davis, Chris Carter types. I want a team to win a World Series. These guys I mentioned make a living hitting HR's off of mediocre pitching, and receive high accolades because of it. What happens when you get to the playoffs? The World Series? These guys look like fools against playoff teams. Playoff teams are made of position players who are professional HITTERS. Not sluggers. Look at the Orioles as a prime example. After Chris Carter is gone, I don't ever want to see this type of hitter in a Brewers uniform again. I have had it of the Jeromy Burnitz's, Corey Hart's, Ritchie Sexons, Rob Deers, Greg Vaughns, John Jahas, Rickie Weeks. Give me a position lineup of the Dave Nilssons, Kevin Seitzers, Fernando Vina's, B.J. Surhoffs, Jeff Cirillos, Jonathen Villars, Nori Aoki's, Darryl Hamiltons, Mark Lorettas, Don Moneys, Ben Oglives Sixto Lezcanos.
  6. So Mr. Lucroy, how's that trade veto working out for you now?
  7. Not necessarily Gilbert Lara types. But a trade that would be similiar to the Lucroy offer to Cleveland with a few more young high octane arms. I think the hold up was on the Dodgers side and not the Brewers. My guess is the Brewers wanted DeLeon and another top prospect, and LA didn't feel right about it. Aftertaste can taste like crap. Most teams look back at what they could have done, digest, and make the necessary changes based on their success or lack ther-of. The LA brass had to of been asking themselves "what if we pulled the trigger on the Braun trade?". If the brass felt that Braun propels them to the World Series, their not going to sit on their hands this offseason. I also believe that teams like the Dodgers don't make FO decisions on how to get to the playoffs, their decisions are made on how to win in the playoffs. Look at Braun's playoff numbers, while not huge in volume, but huge in opportunity they are quite staggering. PA 65, BA .379, 2 HR, 12 RBI, 1.060 .OPS. This alone should of had the Dodgers pull the trigger. Looking back it seems foolish the Dodgers passed on Braun's potential in this years playoffs based on the forfeiture of an expensive, oft-injured, old, salary dump pitcher, a clubhouse cancer, and I am guessing 2 very good pitching prospects but still unproven. The Dodgers SHOULD be kicking themselves and when observed under a microscope, it could be said that it might be the "worst trade that was NEVER made".
  8. And if Stearns keeps Braun how is it benefitting the Brewers? Leadership? After the trouble he got into, not so sure. People quickly forget how his nagging injuries have hampered him the last few years. He finished strong and after this April 17' your stuck with him. If I'm Stearns I'm trading him. Try to get San Fran involved into the bidding process. Personally I would pass on Puig and Deleon, give me 5 guys under the age of 20 with outstanding ceilings.
  9. People are going to spend their money either way, Braun Jersey or not. I know when I got o Miller Park, I have a budget on what to spend at the fan shop. And I think most people do the same as well. It's whether there is a player that is "liked". Personally, I won't buy Jerseys from players just because I don't want a closet with Chucky Carr and Charlie O'Brien jerseys. So the sentiment/star players sells Jerseys have little affect on revenue. However, winning has a lot of affect on revenue. Which we already know.
  10. Let's hope the Dodgers as a team and especially the OF can't hit their way out of a wet paper bag come the playoffs. Drive the price up for Mr. Braun.
  11. Any trade with Dodgers that include Braun have to include Deleon AND Yadier Alvarez.
  12. Problem is they don't want Puig. They just can't stand him anymore. If Puig tears it up and they win the World Series they will be thrilled with Puig boosting his stock. He won't boost his stock in D.S. view. D.S. does not buy high.
  13. Exactly!!! And David Stearns and Co. see it the same way.
  14. This has to be a situation where Puig knew that if he didn't shape up he's going to Milwaukee. Puig does not want to come here. Hence the reason he has been on his best behavior and actually trying. L.A. just didn't want to put up with his shenanigans anymore. I don't see Puig being traded to the Crew going forward. L.A. was also tired of McCarthy being hurt and needed to offset the salary. If a trade does get done, I now see McCarthy, and REAL top prospects heading back to Milwaukee. And DeLeon should be part of that package. Brewers will have all winter to play cat and mouse if L.A. doesn't put DeLeon up.
  15. Not necessarily. Chris Carter would of had very little value to them this year. However, next year with Napoli hitting FA, that can make a huge difference. Tyler Thornburg made his best strides this year after Jeffress was traded and has proven that he can handle the closer role. The real key from the deadline fiasco is that you now know that Mejia is not an untouchable.
  16. What are the odds that we still try to pry Mejia from the Tribe? I would really like to see DS still try to acquire the young catcher. As I see it now we have a couple of options: Chris Carter & Trent Clark: The Tribe doesn't have much in the fold for a power hitting DH after Napoli who is scheduled to be a FA after this year. CC is also 5 years younger and costs half of what Napoli did. The Tribe also will still be looking to contend next year. The former 1st round OF may swing the deal. Jonathan Villar straight up: Yes, I would trade Villar straight up for Mejia. This trade would also give the Tribe a little flexibility. Tyler Thornburg straight up: The cost of great relievers keeps going up. Possibly thrown in Guerra if the Tribe kicks another piece as well. I would really like to see Mejia in a Brewers uni. On a side note: I just don't see Lucroy coming back to Milwaukee in 2018. No matter how well the Brewers perform next year. That foreseeable catching position looks very thin moving forward. And Nottingham just doesn't have what it takes to be a backstop looking at his defensive numbers. Thoughts?
  17. DS is for sure trying to acquire the 5 tool player. You could see this in Houston when they traded for Gomez. And you can see this blueprint in other Houston players and prospects. The trouble I see, and just like Houston is that hitting eye is being neglected for the speed/arm/power tools. However, if your hitter eye can't put the bat on the ball those other tools are nil. You are seeing this as an issue with Kirk and Keon. DS is definitely the anti one trick pony. It is interesting to see that the Stros and Brewers currently have similar offensive numbers except for runs. Personally, I would rather see the Brewers focus 70% on pitching and 30% on hitting. And acquire position players that are pure hitters/great eye w/ 20HR power. However, I give the Brewers credit now for having a plan and sticking to it. Dougie seemed to try to throw mud and hoped it stuck with overpriced, over the hill pitching and Rob Deer look a-likes.
  18. I don't think it's Mendez either. If Mendez was even made available, I think he would be in the Brewers system right now. Mendez also fits into the Rangers window of opportunity. My bet is that it will be between Taveras and DeLeon. With those 2 being so young and green, the Brewers want to see as much of a sample as they can before making a decision. The extra 2 months helps tremendously with that. And it's also makes sense as there was much rumor of Brewer scouts doing their thing at many a Ranger minor league games. In the end I believe it to be Taveras. My .02 cents.
  19. Alright, disbanding my account. I gave you a heads up that he was going to Cleveland when pretty much everyone thought he was going to NY. Now I just told you Will Smith is being shopped for a high K starter. Still getting grief. I have info from the inside faster than you can blink. Im out for good. And Go Brewers!
  20. Calling it a night. 2 cent tidbit. Will Smith is currently being shopped for 1 starter with a K/9 of 9 or better ratio. Goodnight.
  21. You said that Milwaukee and Cleveland had a deal, which was likely to have been the case anyway. You declined to name any of the players going back. That's not really breaking anything. I declined because I had sarcastic quotes following my statements. Why keep posting if people are going to jar with you.
  22. This kind of attitude contributed to the reception you got in the other thread. Want more behind the door info, then keep your mouth shut. FACT...... I broke the news of the Cleveland trade before anyone on planet earth.
  23. Not only that, we sent thousands of Mets fans to bed crabby. That alone is worth some cheap entertainment.
  24. Just be happy the Indians made this offer. For the upset peanut gallery, you could have 3 players with one by the name of D'Arnaud and the other Nimmo.
