  1. I don't believe there's an options remaining thread that's regularly updated here, but I think it would be useful to have this thread here because I don't think there's a website out there that tracks it either. I don't have any of this from an official source, but here's the list of current Brewers 40-man players and how many options they have left (calculated by me based on transaction history). Hopefully we can keep this post/thread updated moving forward. Here's a link to the Brewerfan.net options page: http://www.brewerfan.net/ViewFortyManRoster.do?teamId=1 For more info on Minor League Option Rules: http://m.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/minor-league-options PITCHERS Matt Albers - 0 Chase Anderson - 1* Ray Black - 0- Corbin Burnes - 2- Alex Claudio - 1 Zach Davies - 2 Jake Faria - 0- Gio Gonzalez - 2* Junior Guerra - 0 Josh Hader - 2 Adrian Houser - 0-** Jay Jackson - 3 #Corey Knebel - 1 Jordan Lyles - 0 Jimmy Nelson - 2* Freddy Peralta - 2 Drew Pomeranz - 0 ^Trey Supak - 2- Brent Suter - 2 #Bobby Wahl - 2 Devin Williams - 3 Taylor Williams - 0- Brandon Woodruff - 1 CATCHERS David Freitas - 1- Yasmani Grandal - 2* Jacob Nottingham - 1- Manny Pina - 0 INFIELD Orlando Arcia - 1 Tyler Austin - 0 Keston Hiura - 2- Mike Moustakas - 3* Hernan Perez - 0 ^Tyler Saladino - 0- Travis Shaw - 1- Cory Spangenberg - 0 Eric Thames - 1* OUTFIELD Ryan Braun - 3* Lorenzo Cain - 1* Ben Gamel - 1 Trent Grisham - 3 Tyrone Taylor - 2- Christian Yelich - 3* ^ Currently optioned to the Minor Leagues # Currently on the Injured List - Player has already burned option for current year * Player has at least 5 years service time and cannot be optioned without their consent (or player has signed an extension or free agent contract and likely has a clause not allowing a minor league option without player consent) ** Some players are eligible for a 4th option year if they spend an entire option year injured or have burned all 3 options in their first 5 pro years. A 4th option year burns the year it is given even if the player spends the entire year on the Major League roster.
  2. Some career numbers for our Initial Out-Getters against the Dodgers: Davies: 2.59 ERA (4 starts, 24.1 IP) Guerra: 3.38 ERA (2 starts, 13.1 IP) Gonzalez: 1.89 ERA (6 starts, 38.0 IP) Miley: 3.55 ERA (15 games, 14 starts, 88.2 IP) Chacin: 4.41 ERA (26 games, 25 starts, 145.0 IP) Anderson: 5.10 ERA (11 starts, 54.2 IP) I imagine Davies' change-up could give the lefty Dodgers lineup fits. Gio and Miley seem like locks (Miley out-dueled Buehler in a 1-0 victory earlier this year). Chacin may have a tigher leash than usual given his struggles against the Dodgers in recent years. All the pitchers above have significantly better numbers at Dodger Stadium against the Dodgers (0.64 ERA in 2 starts there for Davies) except for Guerra/Chacin who are both worse (Guerra had only 1 start there but it was very bad, Chacin around a 5 ERA at Dodger Stadium over the years). I don't think this will be too much of an issue though as Chacin does not have to pitch at Dodger Stadium at all. If it's the Dodgers, I'd go: Game 1: Miley Game 2: Chacin Game 3: Gio Game 4: Davies Game 5: Miley Game 6: Chacin Game 7: Gio or Davies, whoever pitched better Keep Guerra in the bullpen, Anderson unfortunately would have to sit this series out too. I think I'd probably keep the same bullpen for this series except consider replacing Peralta with Cedeno.
  3. Someone tweeted Knebel's career #'s against lefties and he's actually been way more effective against lefties.
  4. On replay, even more blaming Braun for that one. That ball was headed into right field easily, and he took a couple steps right in front of it and didn't even get his back foot off the ground to try to avoid it.
  5. Travis Shaw has 11 errors in 39 games at 2B? That surprises me, I can't really think of many errors he committed there. And of course, the reason for that is that he's had 11 ERRORS ALL YEAR! He has 1 error at 2B this year, 10 at 3B. Thanks Costas.
  6. That green screen Bank of America sign behind home plate is clashing with the batter and the ball and makes it look like both are on some Hollywood set filming a big action scene against an empty background.
  7. I just got a 7 day free trial to YouTube TV which has MLB Network, so I plan on watching it that way.
  8. I guess instead of second guessing every decision Counsell made in a game that, until the 9th inning, had us winning 2-0 and our opponents held to only 1 hit, I'm just going to say how excited I am at the prospect of Kyle Freeland not even pitching in this series.
  9. This is probably the winner. I'd guess you lock in Peralta for innings 1-4 in game 3. Hard to deny that his fastball-heavy repertoire would be best for a Coors Field game.
  10. I'd go: Pitchers: - Jeremy Jeffress - Josh Hader - Corey Knebel - Joakim Soria - Corbin Burnes - Brandon Woodruff - Freddy Peralta - Xavier Cedeno - Zach Davies - Jhoulys Chacin - Wade Miley - Junior Guerra Hitters: - Christian Yelich - Lorenzo Cain - Ryan Braun - Jesus Aguilar - Travis Shaw - Orlando Arcia - Mike Moustakas - Jonathan Schoop - Manny Pina - Erik Kratz - Domingo Santana - Curtis Granderson I think the 25th man comes down to Hernan Perez or Keon Broxton. Perez would be better at the plate, Broxton a little faster as a pinch runner and better defensively in the outfield (although he'd likely only be playing in the corners and Perez is pretty decent there). My guess is they'd rather have the better pinch hitter than the better pinch runner and stick with Perez. Tough luck for Chase Anderson, Gio Gonzalez, Taylor Williams, Dan Jennings, Jordan Lyles, Jacob Barnes, and Matt Albers.
  11. Has anybody received information about when NLCS tickets go on sale? https://www.mlb.com/brewers/tickets/postseason says tomorrow 10/4, but I haven't seen/heard anything else yet. Assuming SSH ID will be the password just like for the NLDS/WC presale?
  12. I also think Friday/Monday will be mostly bullpen games no matter who pitches them given that they will have off days after each of them. Feeling very good about our chances. The bullpen has been lights out (Woodruff/Burnes are going to be the secret weapons to get us through middle innings), and I really like our offense, both starting lineups and power bats off the bench. Does anybody know if the Brewers have really struggled against any of the Rockies' pitchers (starters or bullpen)?
  13. Any chance the Rockies bring Marquez back on 3 days rest to pitch Friday? That way he could pitch game 5 on regular rest. Curious if the Brewers are contemplating doing the same thing with Chacin. Whoever wins game 1 could certainly play a factor in this decision.
  14. Thanks, this puts my mind at ease. I'm 99% sure I'll still be able to make both games, and hoping Wednesday won't be a problem either. If Brewers go to 5, I'm hoping either the Braves or the Dodgers clinch it in 4.
  15. When will we know game times for sure? If NL has early games regardless, we should know after tonight's game right?
  16. I think I can make it Thursday/Friday no matter what (not sure about the people I'm going with though), but on the off chance that I can't, does anybody know if it's even possible to sell the tickets from the presales? You don't get barcodes until the day of the game, so I don't think you can sell them on StubHub.
  17. Suter going nuts while clearly protecting his left arm will never not be hilarious to me.
  18. Nice recovery by Soria. Will Counsell stick with him in the 7th, or is the plan for Knebel in the 7th, Jeffress in the 8th, and Hader in the 9th?
