  1. Anything is possible but a team as starved for offense as the Brewers are should not really consider trading one of their only hitters with all star upside. Hiura just needs a new hitting coach for him to hit like he did in 2019. As for Peralta with his very affordable contract and his ability to both start and relieve I would be surprised if he was traded.
  2. Stearns has been a very good GM and I hope we don’t lose him to the Mets but his 2019 offseason was pretty disastrous.
  3. I don’t expect to make the playoffs every year and realize we have extreme financial limitations but with that said this years team was not good and only made it because of the ridiculous playoff format.
  4. I think if you want a good idea of what the free agent market will look like look no further than the current market in the NHL. Most of those free agents are being forced to sign short term deals with only a few guys landing big long term contracts.
  5. Signing players like Profar is why we were one of the worst offenses in baseball.
  6. With all the revenue we missed out on with no fans and the fact that we cut payroll last offseason with expectations of big crowds I think most of you are going to be disappointed when we are forced to shop in the bargain bin once again.
  7. I wouldn't mind Urias at 2B with Kim at SS but that still leaves a hole at 3B. I would assume Kim would eat up all of what you get in savings for trading away Arcia or even just dropping Arcia. Assuming Arcia gets traded or released that is about $4m in savings for the Brewers. I am going to assume Kim will get more than $4m and put his figure at a maximum of $15m a season and the minimum at $9m a season. So he should get something like 5-years $60-75m. I don't believe he will get more than that less is possible but definitely not more. I think Kim might be the whole off season budget assuming the Brewers keep Hader and reduce payroll. If the Brewers trade Hader there is probably enough room in the free agency budget to get Kim and Profar maybe even LaStella depending on the market for LaStella. I believe LaStella gets a nice contract this offseason around $10-15m a year. I don't know why you keep pushing Profar and there is no way we should ever pay LaStella 10 million or more per season.
  8. An F? For a team that made the playoff? Yikes. I could understand b/c range, but this is a bit harsh. Yes his last offseason deserves an F because nearly all his moves were terrible. As far as making the playoffs we all know this was not a playoff caliber team and sneaking in with a 29-31 record with a 4th place finish in the division is not something to be proud of.
  9. Stearns should get an A before last offseason but he gets an F for his work since then. Overall I think he deserves a solid B but I don't like that he moved Ray Montgomery away from handling the draft where he has excelled for years even before he came back to Milwaukee.
  10. So dumpster diving 2.0. I totally expect another underwhelming offseason unless we can improve through the trade route.
  11. I think Stearns is facing a nearly impossible job. We are probably going to lower payroll and free agency doesn't offer much. I am concerned that we will make a desperation Hader trade where we look to fill needs instead of taking the best return regardless of position.
  12. Totally agree about McNeil. In general I never trust guys that first make the majors at 27 or older. I would be very disappointed if he was the top guy we get in a Hader trade.
  13. I would think that losing 18 postseason games in a row would give Minnesota a sense of desperation. I just hope we take the best package of players offered even if the positions they play are not exactly what we need.
  14. Just wait till Jansen blows some games. He may have gotten the Brewers out with his 90 mph fastballs but that won't cut it once they face a good lineup.
  15. I didn't intend to bring this to the board until this thread popped up. Attanasio probably caught wind of the Mets interest and is trying to be proactive to keep Stearns happy. This is the one job that has always had the potential to interest Stearns. We can all laugh at how inept the Mets have mostly been the last few years but Cohen has the opportunity to change that perception very quickly. If approved he will immediately be the richest owner in the sport and he intends to spend it. This is Stearns childhood team and it just may be his dream job. With a budget that will surely be at least twice the Brewers budget and it being home its easy to see the potential appeal. I'm not saying this is a done deal by any stretch but it has the potental to happen.
  16. Sure, teams do their due diligence and they contact everyone, which I'm assuming is the case with Stearns. As it stands, he's 35 years old and has already taken one of the most moribund franchises in the league to the post season 3 straight times. I could see enticement if there was a franchise inherently better positioned to win a championship than Milwaukee, where he'd be running the entire show. However, the soon to be owner of the Mets has indicated Sandy Alderson will be at the top of the organizational chart. With so few front office jobs available at the major league level, it's not the best career move to take jump organizations for an inferior position. Unless, of course, there is a strong desire to return out East that is larger than baseball. Alderson is in a figurehead position to assure that Cohen gets approved to buy the Mets. They will be hiring someone to run baseball operations and their number one target is Stearns. Whether or not he takes the job is up to Attanasio and Stearns himself but make no mistake about it the job is his if he wants it and Brewers ownership lets him out of his contract.
  17. Stearns is not definitely staying and has in fact been approached by the Mets.
  18. Yelich is the one big contract that we will have for awhile unless we finally get a salary cap in the next collective bargaining agreement.
