  1. I'll take my .500 batting average on the two over your .000 average as you were wrong on everything.
  2. Seriously screw Counsell for doing this to his hometown team.
  3. Stearns was always taking the Mets job and you thinking otherwise couldn't be more wrong.
  4. Good luck if he wants that job.
  5. Could be but I would be shocked if we see a sudden huge jump in manager salaries. I think the front office people are much more important to the success of an organization than any manager.
  6. Not a bad guess but Philly is as undesirable a place to manage as New York.
  7. This would be a big loss for the Brewers and likely a sign that Counsell doesn't think he can win a championship under this ownership.
  8. Funny coming from the guy who predicted Stearns was going to the yankees or maybe that was the guy who gave you the thumbs up.
  9. I fully expect this team to cut payroll this offseason and don't like it but Canha was definitely not worth 11.5 million for this team regardless.
  10. They probably have a deal for Santana at 5 million for one year which is a better move than paying Canha 11.5.
  11. I would have been more than happy to just turn down the option but getting an interesting pitcher is excellent work from Arnold.
  12. Burnes to the Dodgers just makes too much sense not to happen.
  13. This guy is just so easy to root for and it really makes you want to keep him on the team.
  14. Attanasio knows that Counsell will get pretty much any amount he wants from the Mets so its up to him to pay Counsell at least 7 million a year or watch him walk. I would rather overpay Counsell by a few million than give an extra 9 million to a guy like Canha.
  15. Counsell has said time and time again how much of a Wisconsin guy he is and how much he wants to win a World Series with the Brewers. If he leaves it means his words meant nothing and that he is in fact not one of us. He is free to do as he pleases but he will lose a lot of respect from the people he says he cares so much about if he walks away from his hometown team.
  16. I still think this interview is just a formality and that Counsell has pretty much agreed to take the Mets job and I'm guessing he will make at least 8 million a year. As far as resetting the market I just don't see that happening since only a handful of owners throw money around like Cohen who is twice as wealthy as any other owner and just doesn't care how much he has to spend to get whoever he wants.
  17. This is exactly how I feel and why it would hurt so much if he left.
  18. The most likely scenario is that this is a done deal just like Bob Melvin being given permission to interview with San Francisco. Counsell probably just wants out and we are letting him do it a few days earlier.
  19. If Attanasio was going to pay Counsell he most likely would have alreay done it.
  20. If Counsell wasn't a Wisconsin guy I probably wouldn't care as much but its really disheartening to potentially be witnessing a home town guy walk away for more money and what he probably considers a far better chance of winning.
  21. I just hope the Mets never win a championship under Stearns or Counsell.
  22. They haven't won it yet and if they do it will be the second low payroll team joining KC in winning a championship this century. No its not impossible to win with a low payroll but its still very difficult and unlikely.
  23. Unless we are just receiving nothing but lowball offers get rid of Burnes. This team is not winning it all next year and we can surely get a better return than just a draft pick so make the move.
  24. I wonder if this is over Attanasio being cheap and losing Counsell over a couple of million or Craig just wanting to manage a team with unlimited resources. Its a shame that we are most likely going to lose the best manager in team history but money talks and this owner doesn't have it to pay big money for a manager and certainly can't compete at any level with teams like the Mets when it comes to the payroll. Until and unless there is a salary cap in baseball the odds of this team ever winning the World Series are extreme. Stearns was always going to look for greener pastures so him taking 15 million a year from Cohen makes sense but losing the home town Counsell is a real kick in the shins.
  25. I'm sure there was no tampering at all. This has most likely been a done deal for quite some time with Counsell knowing that Stearns was going to New York and Counsell being the obvious first choice.
