Craig could have ended up as one of the great Brewers ever along with Yount and Molitor and now he will forever be hated by the fanbase he grew up a part of.

There is a lot of bad blood between Attanasio and Counsell that has obviously been building. I think Counsell specifically wanted to manage in the division and thats just a really bad look in my opinion.

That quote tells you that the relationship between Counsell and Attanasio wasn't good before this went down.

This owner has been cutting payroll and he hasn't given out any long term contracts the last few years. Him selling the team while unlikely is certainly possible and what I am hoping for.

I could see your scenario as plausible and hope it plays out that way because this owner has taken the team as far as he possibly can being one of the least wealthy owners in the sport. Maybe Elon Musk or someone like him is a baseball fan because we sure need someone that rich and brilliant to save us.

Its not easy being the corner store competing against the likes of Walmart and Amazon but thats what we are and always will be unless MLB gets a salary cap.

The team is a relatively easy sale regardless of whether they spent an extra few million on a manager. I would love to see Attanasio sell to someone with much deeper pockets but I'd be surprised if it actually happens.

They offered a deal to Counsell that was good but it was to save face knowing he was taking the highest offer.

Not a great sign for the future of this team that everyone gets out as soon as possible. With Stearns he knew the Mets job was waiting at a ridiculous salary but Counsell walking away from his hometown team to go to our biggest rival is a bad harbinger of what the future likely looks like for this team.

I am all for trading Burnes but if we move him and don't bring back Woodruff it would be far more of a rebuild than just a reset as you suggest.

Seitzer so maybe we can have an offense that won't put us to sleep. I'd also like to keep Chris Hook as the pitching coach.

Considering one small market team has won the World Series this century I would say its pretty damn hard for a small market team to win it all.

This pretty much sums it up for me. This is a franchise that has never won a World Series and the financial disparities are only getting greater by the year. I know many are happy just being competitive and thats fine but I want to win the World Series and this bite of the apple nonsense without actually winning just doesn't do it for me.

Just look at our payroll and you will see an ownership group that can't compete at a high level. This is just one more example.

If we hire another Roenicke or Macha we will regret not paying the extra money for a proven good to excellent manager who is also a hometown guy.

I think Attanasio is cheap and that shows in our payroll and its probably a big reason why Counsell was so willing to leave us for our biggest rival.

I absolutely think this is a big f u to Attanasio. I think Counsell wanted to get away from Mr cheapo and going to the cubs is just a big screw you to the fans and especially this owner.

That wasn't always the case but its definitely true for Counsell who doesn't care about his Wisconsin roots to do this to his hometown fans.
