  1. Why does this team seem obsessed with filling first base with scrub after scrub.
  2. Brewers really appear to be tanking. Hopefully there is a QB worth tanking for, oh nevermind wrong sport.
  3. If Woodruff is non tendered a big money team like the Dodgers or Mets will bank on his upside and sign him for far more than we would be willing to give.
  4. We have a top of the rotation pitcher who actually wants to be here. Yes its taking a chance but I'm betting on Woodruff to come back strong. I will be extremely disappointed if he is non tendered or traded for 20 cents on the dollar. I think we should find a way to keep him long term as the anchor of the staff. Burnes should be traded as he just doesn't want to be here but Woodruff is a great guy who wants to be a career Brewers player. It may mean nothing to most but I enjoy rooting for guys who want to be here. I expect them to non tender him or trade him for AAAA fodder. Big mistake in my opinion but this ownership just doesn't want to spend. The best thing for the fans of this team would be for Mark A to just sell to someone with deeper pockets but thats probably not going to happen.
  5. Just the same way I wouldn't trust Rob Deer to be a hitting coach is how I feel about Weeks stressing defensive fundamentals when he never got it himself.
  6. With the way that Counsell left his hometown team for a rival the last thing I wanted to do was give the job to his sidekick. A clean break from anything Counsell is the direction I would have gone but I won't get all that worked up over who the manager is when this team is taking a step back for the next few years anyway.
  7. Avoiding Mattingly and Shildt is a victory of sorts so thats something.
  8. I question how much anyone cares about fundamentals when they never improved their defense which was awful from day one till he retired. On the other hand his OBP was always good for a guy with a low average and thats a positive so we'll see.
  9. He had a great eye at the plate which is a great fundamental to have but his poor defense makes me question the rest of his fundamental knowledge.
  10. I look at this hiring as a sign that we are going to rebuild and just wanted to go cheap because this is nothing more than a stopgap hiring. What bothers me is that I don't really think Weeks is the guy for the future and I would guess he is pretty much the manager in waiting.
  11. This looks like some lazy reporting with India not being the Brewers type of player and the team almost certainly being unwilling to deal the pitching that Cincy will want.
  12. If this team hires Mattingly it will be due to Attanasio meddling so he could bring in a guy that he enjoyed watching as a player since he grew up a yankees fan. Out of all the names listed so far he is far and away the one that I want to avoid at all costs.
  13. From the little I've seen of Baty he appears to be a butcher defensively which is why I think Stearns will move in but also why we will have no interest. As for Alonso no thanks to a one year guy in any Burnes trade.
  14. Now that Counsell has moved on from us we should move on from anything to do with him which means saying no to Murphy. Its time for some fresh blood and a voice from outside the organization preferably a young guy analytically aware so that means avoiding someone like Mattingly as well.
  15. Why should this team want any continuity with anyone that has anything to do with this offense.
  16. That is so over the top ridiculous but thats the type of hyperbole you get from big market teams and why Counsell will forever get booed by his former hometowns fans.
  17. You've unfairly taken a lot of heat for taking an unconventional position but I agree that there is a lot more going on here other than the convenient Counsell just went to the highest bidder which is definitely a factor but not the whole story.
  18. I can understand extending Hook but why would this team force these hitting coaches on anyone.
  19. I expect the Dodgers to pay whatever it takes especially with their extreme need for pitching. Either that or overpay in a trade for Burnes which is what I am hoping for.
  20. I expect them to sign Hader but the Japanese pitcher that everyone seems to love is 25 and they won't be outbidding the Dodgers or either New York team for someone at that level.
  21. Not that it matters but why do we have a cubs fan contributing articles to a Brewers fan site.
  22. Why would you want to leave your hometown team which you have said numerous times how much it means to you if there isn't any animosity with ownership and possibly the head of baseball operations. I get that he values money and thats fine but it seems like he wanted this job specifically which goes against his lie that the Brewers franchise meant something to him.
  23. I still think this is more than just taking the highest bid and that he just wanted out. Going to a rival really says that he wants to stick it to this owner and possibly Arnold as well.
  24. You can't walk away from your hometown team for their biggest rivals and not expect a heavy backlash. Clearly Counsell just flat out doesn't care.
