  1. I think the fact that the Dodgers had no interest in signing Machado following their 2018 season was telling. They had an opportunity to bring him in on a trade for a few months and got real idea of what having Manny Machado as a part of their organization truly offered. Of course we fans are on the outside looking in, but I never got the impression that he was a part of the team or was fully accepted by the team. Organizations can talk with people and players around the league to learn more about a player, but having him on your own teams bench is the ultimate test. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking, but after seeing Machado’s interactions in the postseason a part of me thinks it may have cost him some money or the chance to be with a team he truly wanted to be with. Of course it doesn’t change the fact that $300 million is an insane amount of money, but I don’t think he landed with a team he whole heartedly wanted to be a part of. Of course I may be a bit bias as a Brewers fan and Manny solidifying himself as a dirty player in the postseason, but even before the playoffs and his altercations with Brewer players, I was suspect of who he is as a teammate.
  2. Its not often you see so many teammates happy about bringing back a player that mixes up player positions and if that’s truly the case then Moose is a good fit for the Brewers. On the other side of this move, I’m curious how Shaw or Moustakas’ speed compares to the average 2B. Will it effect the teams ability to turn double plays or increase opponent hits up the middle. Shaw at 2B impressed me last season, but will opponents find ways to exploit this given they have a full season to work different tactics
  3. I think team owners are finally acknowledging the fact that 7-10 year deals pretty much never work out and end up handicapping teams for several years in the final years of the contract. The players salary far exceeds his contributions at the end of his career and I think it may even create some resentment amongst some of the teammates.
  4. I really like the idea of keeping that lineup the same from last year with Grandal as sole addition. I thought the team was unified as a whole in a way the Brewers haven’t been in decades and keeping a group together that came as close as they did last season should only intensify the comradery. I am surprised Moose wasn’t locked up on a multi year deal by another team. It seems a bit crazy that a player with his talent has had to sign 1 year deals over the past 2 seasons. Although, Machado still being unsigned is probably affecting that a bit.
  5. I think Vogt was a good clubhouse presence, but I really didn’t see a future for him in Milwaukee. I’m much more interested in finding a way to keep Kratz around. He’s a great mentor to younger players and high baseball iq. His batting average could be better with the exception of his division series performance against the Rockies.
  6. I’m completely fine with the Brewers offering him a deal, especially since it’s a highly performance oriented deal. My only concern is his past injury that cost him 2 seasons. I’ve read several interviews with Lawrie and he never explains what was actually wrong or the doctors diagnosis. He spends a lot of time talking around the injury. He had said he went to a lot of doctors, but would only give each doctor a month to fix the problem. That’s not a lot of time especially when he couldn’t definitively tell the doc what was wrong. Hopefully it’s not a reoccurring injury and that it’s all in his past.
  7. I viewed this deal as Nola on the winning side of this deal. He still has 3 years of team control/arbitration years left with the Phillies
  8. As a Brewers fan the Miller corporation has always gone hand in hand with the Brewers organization. They can change the name all they want, but I’ll always refer to it as Miller Park. My biggest concern is how the stadium will look with a new sign on the face of the stadium. The Miller Park sign is a part of the aesthetics to the stadium and it’s difficult to picture it without it.
  9. I hope the Brewers have better luck with Ben Gamel then they did with his brother Mat. If I remember correctly he blew out each of his knees at the beginning of consecutive seasons.
  10. As much as I like Tim Dillard, he’s never coached and I think if coaching is in his future he would need to prove himself at the minor league level first. That said, I see him more apt to pursue a career in broadcasting.
  11. Obviously as a Brewers fan I wanted nothing more than to see the Brewers in the World Series. The frustration comes because there were 2 games the Brewers really had chances to win. Game 2 where Jeffress blew the lead in the eighth and Game 4 loss, 2-1 in 13 innings. It always hurts losing games by a run and hurts even more when the offense doesn’t show up and only score 1 run in those 13 innings. My biggest fear is repeating 2011, the Brewers win the Division with 96 wins and don’t see the playoffs again for 7 years. Of course I see this Brewers team is very different then 2011’s as that teams talent was at its peak. 2011 played in the NLCS, but they weren’t in it it. The 2018 Brewers really competed in the NLCS and had opportunities to win it. Going forward the Brewers have good young starting and bullpen pitchers.
  12. I really hope his scumbag attitude in the NLCS ends up costing him money this off season as a free agent. I also get the feeling there isn’t a lot of love for him in the Dodgers clubhouse either. It just doesn’t seem like he’s buddy buddy with anyone on the team
  13. I’d only be open to Hader being a starter if he can add a third pitch to his arsenal.
  14. I do understand Schoop May be eligible for a raise, but during the arbitration process I’d find it difficult for his manager to be able to substantiate a raise with his 2018 production as support. That aside, if the Brewers plan on keeping him they need to address his use. I believe that Schoop can be an effective and productive player for the Brewers, but not in the type of role he was used in this past September and October. I think he is a player that needs everyday ABs as a starter to be an effective batter. There are some players that can be effective off the bench as pinch hitters, but Schoop is not one of them.
  15. The Brewers win game 1 and I’ve got to listen to mlb network and fs1 dog the Brewers on the bullpen for another night. Granted the 8th and 9th were rough innings for the bullpen, but come on show a little love for the winning team.
  16. Yelich will the NL MVP without a question. It was close at the beginning of September and I’d say the edge was to Baez, but Yelich has dominated the month of September and Baez got cold. As far as Baez goes, I’m not a fan. This guy showboats and I’d be ok with that except for the fact that when a player from another team acts in the same manner he gets all offended and gets into with them. It’s not a Cub thing either because as much as I’d like to dislike Rizzo I can’t, he’s a good guy that does it the right way on and off the field.
  17. I dont think it really matters how you get into the playoffs, everyone has a shot at that point to win it all. Winning the division and the 1 seed gives you advantages that are earned, but I’ve always felt the teams with the best chance to win the WS are the teams that get hot in September and carry it into October. When I look back at the the 2011 Brewers, they had a good team and won the division convincingly, but they weren’t hot going into the playoffs. They didn’t have the comeback ability that the 2018 Brewers have and because of that I think the 2018 Brewers are far more talented than the 2011 Brewers

  19. What a great day! It’s great winning the division, but it’s even better being able to take it away from the Cubs. GO BREW CREW!!
  20. I really think Schoop needs to be an everyday player before we really see any consistency from him, but with the roster as it is it won’t happen this year.
  21. it’s easy for me to say this as a Monday morning qb, but this game really worked out well for the Brewers. Most importantly they got the win, but it also allowed them to work out a few BP arms that have had some limited innings over the last couple of weeks with the expanded roster and with need for elite pitching in this tight NL Central division
  22. This was posted under the Brewers Press Release on the Brewers website https://www.mlb.com/brewers/news/brewers-press-releases/t-267533508 Single-game tickets for the Wild Card and National League Division Series will open to the general public on Friday, September 28 beginning at 10 a.m. CT. 23. I’d have hoped Counsell would have kept the change in the game starter within the team/organization and surprise the Cards with change close to Monday’s game time in hopes of giving them limited time to prep for a different starter. Anderson can’t be all that surprised in the move, after all he leads the NL in HRs allowed. It’s a stat that he has consistently maintained all season. One could be all but certain that he’d give up at least 1 HR in his very next start.
  24. Don’t forget the scenario where if the Cubs drop enough games allowing the Brewers to slide into 1st that may also leave the Cubs record close enough to the Cards to make it a battle for home field advantage in a WC Playoff.
