  1. I really hope you are correct. For sure. When's the last time anyone ever sent down a guy with an .882 OPS? If there is any question about his super two status, he will go down.
  2. I don't think the issue is the offense. I think you could visit a board for just about any team and they would complain about offensive consistency. The offense scores enough runs most every night. We just don't have the arm talent to sustain success. Of course it’s the offense, just like it was the offense last year. Home runs or nothing. The story of this team. Another non-massive K hitter or two will change that. Maybe Shaw will mash again. Then it’s just one. Pitching is stronger, not great but good, with the potential to get better. Chacín is the only horrible starter, soon to be replaced by Nelson. Bullpen can hold a lead, and will get better. But a team that can’t move runners, sac fly to get run in from third, that the only way they score is from the home run, will die in the playoffs from good pitching shutting them down again. There is literally nothing about that post that I agree with but you're entitled to your opinion.
  3. Most of his mistakes, like the throw tonight, are a product of a rookie trying to rush or make something happen that isn't there. He's made some pretty good plays as well. He isn't going to win a gold glove but he will be a solid 2B.

  5. They couldn't though. You'd need to hang Houser for a long long run without taxing the whole pen. Agree that it probably wasn't the right way to go, but I wouldn't have been opposed to it. Let Houser ride; if he isn't good the game was lost anyway. We can go get a fresh Burch Smith, Taylor Williams, and/or Donnie Hart tomorrow. Perfectly said. The offense had momentum in that spot. Peralta never had to give them length.
  6. Blaming the umpire is weak. Every single game there are calls that go for and against the pitcher on both sides. The situation is irrelevant. It's not like an umpire is going to all of sudden become a better umpire based on the situation. We aren't getting machines to call balls and strikes so this is the system we have. Chacin was horrible and put himself in the position to have a walk to the pitcher hurt him. It's the pitcher, quit nibbling and get after it. If he gets a hit he gets a hit. That is a far better outcome than walking the pitcher because you were "trying" to hit the black. He wasn't in a position to try and "paint". Tonight, Chacin had very little idea where his pitches were going to end up. The notion that he was executing by hitting the black is questionable at best. Did the umpire help, no, but this score is on Chacin.
  7. And the one to Stallings had 0% of the zone. Without that call he probably walks too. Regardless, it was the pitcher, just get after him. Yup nothing. Pitch 1. 2 balls follow. Strike Foul Swinging K. 3 in the zone following 3 balls. Does that have an impact. Sure. Is it close to the impact that squeezing Chacin vs Archer. Not even close. Agree to disagree.
  8. And the one to Stallings had 0% of the zone. Without that call he probably walks too. Regardless, it was the pitcher, just get after him. And if Chacin is total trash he isn't in the position to have the ump decide.

  10. You win, Chacin was great. No he was terrible. Clearly terrible. But the umpire can not assume ball because a guys been wild. If they can't see it, put machines on the job. The gift pitch amounted to nothing. Pushing in a run and extending an inning when a HORRIBLE hitter is up changed this game. But we don't have machines, and we aren't going to anytime soon. As was mentioned, if you need borderline calls to get the pitcher out you have bigger issues. This game is on Chacin, no one else.
  11. Not that I disagree but the reason they lead by 3 is the umpire. The reason they lead by three is because Chacin was garbage. That inning was about a lot more than a couple of missed calls (which were cancelled out by a gift or two).
  12. Or, you know, Jimmy Nelson. There has to be something not quite right with Jimmy. I can't see how 60% of this rotation keeps a former ace out of your rotation.
