  1. Walk Baez.
  2. Maddon using the same relievers again today.
  3. not tied at 2
  4. Tied at 2
  5. I'm sure this was more of an issue form the players union that from Cubs management. I'd be willing to bet there is some sort of rule in the CBA that they loop-holed in order to move the game time back.
  6. But it'a all a crapshoot, right? And if it's not then those teams should be worried about playing us, not us worried about them. If this really is an elite team, then it shouldn't matter who we play. But in a crapshoot there is still odds and every little bit counts. hitting a 7 is more likely than hitting a 6 or a 5. yes of course if you want to win it all you should do it regardless, but the easier the better. Take the NCAA tournament as an example. Would you rather play high seeds the whole way or a bunch of underdogs that pulled off upsets. tough guy speak you can say it doesn't matter just win the game, but reality is the easier it is the better. I know I'd have rather played MSU than Duke in that title game. To be the best you gotta beat the best. That isn't tough guy speak, you literally have to win the game. If you don't have the confidence to beat the best then you're a paper tiger. I don't care who we play, where we play them or how many times we play them. All of those teams are good, you're odds aren't going to shift a ton from one to the other all that much. Just win baby!

  8. We are going to, most likely, have the first or second best record in the NL. Why do we care who it is?
  9. I hate Baez......but I'd love him if he were on my team.
  10. I heard that, for some reason, Joe Ross is starting. It was frustrating. Possible rain from hurricane could delay or cancel the game. They don't want to mess with Scherzer warming up or pitching and then the game gets delayed or called. Too valuable to risk that in a lost season. Nah, landfall is Friday and then moving south before moving north. Hurricane will have no effect.
  11. Despise his praying mantis style. Cubs just pitching same guys day after day after day!! That pen is getting gassed. Pitching the same 4-5 guys every game. Doesn't look gassed to me.
  12. A loss tonight would put them four back in the loss column. That would be a difficult pull for the division barring a complete Cub collapse. I'll root for the Cardinals all day long if it means we beat the Cubs for the division.
  13. Makes you wonder what Johnson could do with a guy with more talent, though. Jimmy Nelson says hi.
  14. They have? News to me. Quintana has killed us but has like a 4.5 ERA facing everyone else and Cubs gave up what looks like a for sure star player. They haven't missed on much. I don't think they're kicking themselves too badly on Darvish either. So if we had gotten him he'd be a complete disaster because he wouldn't have us to pitch against?
  15. I think the Dodgers ultimately take the West with the Rockies getting the second WC and heading to either Milwaukee or Chicago for the WC game. St. Luis will fade and Arizona is on life support at this point. Division or bust for them I think.
  16. Arizona is in worse shape in my opinion. If they go on to lose tonight, and they will, they are six back of the Brewers in the loss column. LA is only four back. Looking more likely every day that both wild card teams come out of the Central. I think the Dodgers crush the Cards and eventually win the West with Colorado visiting either Milwaukee or Chicago for the Wild Card game. I think Arizona is on the outside looking in and I don't think the Cardinals can sustain. The Cards are only up two in the loss column over the Dodgers.
  17. Arizona is in worse shape in my opinion. If they go on to lose tonight, and they will, they are six back of the Brewers in the loss column. LA is only four back.
  18. apparently just once. We could score in other innings, frequently. Good point.
  19. So you're saying sometimes a manager makes a decision that the general fan population doesn't agree with?
