  1. I know I'm in the deep minority here but I keep Villar.
  2. Right. Because Braun didn't play 135, 140, 135 the three years previous to last season. Annual must mean something different to you. Geesh B4U. I think we all know Braun has these nagging injuries even when he is playing that might be better served if he just sat down a few weeks. I do wonder how much "healthier" Braun gets if they put a high end roster around him. Might be his last hurah.
  3. They need another starter or two.... And they'll continue to negotiate on trades and free agents to improve the pitching. I remain concerned about the bullpen too Yeah, the pen has crossed my mind too but I think they have some internal options there. T. Williams and Houser in particular. I agree they need two and that it will probably be a FA and a trade but if Santana is not the main piece in the trade, who is?
  4. let's revisit that question after this weekend...something tells me they aren't close to being done. I'm firmly in that boat too. I just think Santana is really the only trade option for anything close to a TOR. Thus, those that want to keep Santana, how do they get the pitching they need?
  5. This is an honest question but I get the feeling that some of you believe this. Does anyone think they have enough pitching right now? I, obviously, believe they need at least one starter and probably two.
  6. The Cain deal was official almost immediately after it dropped. He had already passed the physical and everything. That deal was planned ahead.
  7. I was thinking the same thing. I'm going to have a lot of work to do on the next list. I love the Yelich trade but I just can't bring my self to do it yet.
  8. Good!!! good!!!! And yes, thames does platoon braun at 1b. Thames only gets days vs rhp. Braun gets every day he can go where he isn't in LF. Thames is the platoon. Braun plays. In the rare rest days for yelich cain santana... slide to the right! I said after cain... santana gone by midnight. The more I looked at the pieces the more I thought, no we can't move santana. Braun needs to go to 1b. That's fine as long as they can find some pitching somehow.
  9. Salazar you have to dream on a bit. It wasn't that long ago that folks were ready to dump Jimmy Nelson and Salazar is more talented than he is. With Archer it would be more about what else goes along with Santana.
  10. If you could get what you needed for Thames, that would be an option but there are a couple of issues there. One is that any additional salary will need to be earmarked for pitching. The other is that I don't think Thames gets you the arm you need.
  11. Santana had to be expendable, which he wasn't until both Cain and Yelich were under control.
  12. So say Domingo, Burnes, Peralta and Stokes?
  13. stroman and devon travis What would that look like?
  14. I'm trying to get a feel for how much payroll space we have left to work with to make moves. It's hard to say for sure without knowing the limit, but I don't think we have much left. Trading for Kipnis seems unlikely at this point. There is a thread in the major league forum that kind of addresses this. Or the keeper of that thread can answer your question in this thread.

  16. Archer or Salazar is going to happen. Smoke seems to be around Archer, so that's my guess. I still maintain that Cleveland makes too much sense, though. What does Toronto need/have? Santana seems like their kind of guy.
  17. That's the only thing that makes sense. A place he can DH and play part time in the OF. Will be interesting to see what kind of value another team places on him. Offense is good, defense leaves a lot to be desired. But power hitters are very valuable. What thread was that in. I can't keep track anymore. This one apparently.

  19. I'll go Santana and Ortiz and maybe a Pennington or some low level lottery ticket.
  20. Can't yet because deal is not final until physical. Sure little by little things will be leaked until then I thought it was reported the physical was cleared and the deal is official. This thing was lined up for a while.
  21. I still think they need one more arm. After all of this I don't think you 100% expect Nelson to come back quickly and/or normal. If he does, you have Chacin/Anderson/Davies filling two spots and the potential to trade one at the deadline.
  22. I do agree with this. I think Arietta is more likely. Arieta scares the bejesus out of me. I'd much rather gamble on Yu than that ex Cub. In thinking about it more I don't like the idea of both Arietta and Cain on extended contracts. Problem is, I don't think just Archer/Salazar is enough.
  23. Well I can promise you that is not going to happen. Something else has to fall. Santana is not going to be some 4th OFer/1B. They will have to either trade Braun(lol), Santana(bet my life on it), or Thames. Don't forget Phillips as 5th OFer and Broxton...waived? Does he have options? Gotta be careful with that. They have to have a competent 4th OF to deal with all the nagy injuries Braun has.
  24. I don't know. The owner has already been willing to dole out for the right player at the right time. That player at this time would certainly fill that bill. Well he just tossed $80mil at Lorenzo Cain which if my memory is correct is the largest FA deal in Brewers history. Of course they could have an absolutely insane offseason including a Santana trade plus a big time starting pitcher addition through free agency...but even I would have a hard time pulling that off in a video game. That would just be unreal. If they stop here, then I have a decidedly different opinion of the nights evens.
  25. I think it's probably a mix of the two. I don't think you can go all in on keeping every prospect or trading every prospect. Teams need vets and cheap talent.
