  1. It could rain this week with a 20% chance as the favorite but other weather patterns are still involved.
  2. That means the crew is still spending 100M on a guy more likely to decline than maintain. I'd want more money or prospects back in that deal.
  3. Why not? You could always use Anderson/Davies/Chacin as trade bait down the road.
  4. That's the thing, I wouldn't do anything to get that done. I'm OK with an aging Braun and what will probably a less than ideal back end to the Cain contract. No way do I take on that contract to and no way do I give up the prospects to have the cost mitigated enough to make it worth it.
  5. Coulter and Broxton for Greinke, Pavin Smith, Duplantier and 35M. Honestly, I have no idea.
  6. I would guess Johnson is going to be on the very conservative side of any perspective return.
  7. I'm not even sure 1B is all that realistic much less second. This is posturing.
  8. The Braun to 1b thing could be 100% misdirection by Stearns, a leverage comment. OR, Braun could have spent all off season working out at 1b and learning the position. They all claim this isn't something that just popped up. He's had months to prep to learn 1b. I don't think they are planning on Braun playing 1b without having some idea whether he can handle it. He's had months to work at it... I heard Counsel on the MLB channel on Sirius XM on Friday afternoon. He said in that interview that he and Braun started having conversations about 1B before last season was over. He also seemed pretty convinced that Santana would be on the team and would be playing a lot. That last part might be misdirection but the former has certainly been in the works for some time.
  9. What is the site for this board?
  10. It was reported elsewhere that the Brewers had made an offer for Yelich, and then that the deal was finalized, before HH said anything about it on here. Suggesting that Darvish was signing with the Cubs seems like another wrong statement, since as far as we know that has not in fact happened yet (how would anyone in the Brewers front office know that anyways?). Correct. Literally the first thing HH said after the Yelich rumors first came out was that that was news to him. This is a couple times now that we have re-written history to fit our (hopeful?) narrative that he has inside information. I am not saying that he doesn't and I fully understand plans and deals in MLB are fluid. I just would like to see and analyze all available information rather than simply take one person's word as gospel. That highlighted part is my issue. Going back to the Lucroy trade last year he is calling things that are being widely reported and/or assumed already. The notion that nobody else had he Yelich deal is wrong. That Misch guy was all over it. Maybe he has info maybe he doesn't but he isn't the second coming and what he says is not beyond skepticism. If that hurts his feelings and he doesn't want to give into anymore, so be it. These deals either still happen or don't happen, doesn't change my world one bit either way.
  11. Lots of ways to view these deals and I'm not sure any of them are 100% wrong or 100% right. I like what they have done but my overall opinion is dependent on acquiring at least one starting pitcher. If they don't do that then my opinion will be decidedly less optimistic.
  12. So every FA contract every singed is technically not "paying market" which means every single FA singing is an overpay?
  13. MLBTradeRumors has an article up on how the Indians were not only in on Cain but thought they had a chance to get him. They are certainly looking for an OF.
  14. What do we know about Darvish? Facts or Widely Reported Information: He isn't singed and the Brewers at least made a play Potentially Reliable Information: HH19 said the will not be a Brewer and will be a Cub. Also that the people for Darvish huddled to discuss the offer the Brewers made prior to rejecting the offer. What that tells me is that the offer the Brewers made was not rejected based on money alone. Darvish didn't sign here because he didn't want to be here.
  15. Agreed. The lineup needed to be fixed and Stearns fixed it. At the cost of 5 prospects and $80 Million. Can't have it both ways. By definition, either they paid market or they overpaid.
  16. To clarify, all he said 2 days ago was that Domingo was going to be traded to an AL team, possibly as soon as tomorrow (yesterday). He never specified that it was definitely going to happen today if not by yesterday. Did he really even say it was Domingo that was being traded? I honestly don't remember.
  17. But at the end of the day that is still just an opinion right. The facts are that Diaz hasn't played above a-ball and he was OK in doing that. Some on here hate this trade because of Harrison, some hate it because of Yamamoto, some hate it because of Brinson. That alone shows how much risk the Marlins took on here.
  18. For me it's not underrating him as much as wondering if the difference between him and what we already had was worth trading 4 prospects for. I would have prefered not to have done this deal but not overly fussed about it either. One thing I do like about this is he is the type of hitter that we don't have a lot of. I'm a fan of having different types of hitters in the lineup and we were missing his type of hit tools. Completely 100% agree with you on this. Take away the aspects of the trade and I'm extremely happy that Yelich is a Brewer, he's the type of hitter I wish we had more of in the lineup. Trading 4 prospects for him is what I'm not extremely happy about. But the assumption there is that any one of those prospects is going to amount to anything. All of the players traded had some serious question marks. It was reported that Tampa turned down Brinson as a center piece because they were scared of his hit tool. Harrison has the same issue. Who knows what Diaz really is. Point is, Miami has just about all the risk here and maybe they "win" this trade but the odds are against it.
  19. LOL! I’m actually feeling great about the fact that he thinks so highly of us. Eh, he spent all season telling everyone he could how bad our minor league players were and now thinks this is an overpay. I'm pretty sure he just enjoys riling people up.
  20. Yeah but everyone else isn't on here beating a dead horse every chance they get. We get it, you don't like what they did. Tough, they did it.
  21. Yep. We got 3 fWAR out of the duo last year. Likely won't happen again but I can easily see it being in the 1.5-2 fWAR range again this year (basically taking away Thames' hot start worth of fWAR). Do we get to take away an equally long not-so-hot period too then? You can't cherry pick.
  22. Well, you're nothing if not predictable. I'm not laughing at your opinion, just that I would've bet my life you were going to say it. To make any grand proclamations about getting taken to the cleaners is really, really silly. We'll see. I don't know how many posts I've made defending the very same prospects that were traded while Boomer told me how disappointing and horrible they were. Now all of a sudden they were overpays. Some folks just gotta.........
  23. 6 man rotation out of the question? 7 mans not out of the question with 1 add Nelson and Burnes. Yes it is.
