  1. It may eventually amount to much ado about nothing, but the way things have gone down and the direct quotes from Stearns certainly indicate there was at least a chance something was/is going on.
  2. SO can we put this debate to bed now?
  3. You missed the rumor that Brinson had to settle for an aisle seat. lol And the one about Stearns being too afraid to make deals.
  4. It's never an issue. Just no indication that he went. There are private options as well outside the few commercial directs from COS to IAD/DCA (Frontier I believe is the only one). Most Delta from COS is to SLC (where I live and fly out of multiple times a week as a Delta Diamond). There is nothing to indicate Brinson flew to DC and thus I don't see any reason to believe him being held out was to travel to DC to be on the Brewers lineup. I am reading that Brinson is on the sub card today in COS. MILB gameday has him available as a sub from that sub card. Haven't heard that he is there or in uniform however. He shows up that way because he has not been officially recalled yet. He is also on the CS roster as of now. Doesn't mean he is physically there.
  5. Verlander and Kinsler do nothing for me, but I would trade practically anyone we have in the minors to get Fulmer. This is a mega deal Id strongly look into. The idea is to take on a Kinsler to give up less propects. Of course Fulmer is attractive, but back up the bus to get him. Not sure that is a wise move either. Whatever this is, I'm guessing it is something we haven't even discussed in this thread.
  6. Boomer, I never said I disagreed with your premise. Having said that, it's not like this team is strapped payroll wise and they probably won't be until after anything that would be taken on is off the books. Other than Nelson, is there anyone on the staff that you would say is definitively better than Verlander? I can think of a couple that have been definitively worse.
  7. I don't see any indication he will be in the lineup tonight. There is zero evidence he went to Washington DC this morning. Doesn't mean he's not there either.
  8. Good grief man, you don't have to be debbie downer every opportunity you get. It's a message board, folks are speculating. Enjoy the ride.
  9. What gives you the indication that he is not physically in Colorado Springs right now? A post earlier in the thread.
  10. Doesn't sound as though they have officially recalled him so him being in the lineup, or not, may not be much of an indication of anything.
  11. Held out of action is one thing. My understanding is that he is not even physically present.
  12. Also provides further indication that Brinson being called up is not just a rumor. That is my thought. No reason to leave Colorado if he is being traded.
  13. I'm guessing it's something relatively unanticipated.
  14. Maybe not technically but he was pulled from that game last night for a reason. It has been widely reported that he was not hurt, was not traded, and was recalled. No need to pull him if he wasn't hurt. No need to recall him if he is being traded. Only reason to recall him is to replace someone. Tie all that together with Stearns being coy about what is going on my guess is either Braun or Phillips is on their way out. Dancing around no trade clauses and the intricacies of a Braun trade would account for the time this is taking. Not sure I believe it but it could be. Maybe he just hasn't been traded yet? No reporter has even the slightest of what is going on so how do we even know Brinson isn't being talked about? Once again I doubt he is, but let's not just shut the possibility out the door. You're right in that it is possible but it doesn't seem to be the way things are trending.
  15. This could apply to the Cordell trade.
  16. Maybe not technically but he was pulled from that game last night for a reason. It has been widely reported that he was not hurt, was not traded, and was recalled. 17. This is my best guess as well. Yes, the timing is odd but that doesn't mean much. Probably just needing to meet to discuss who the moving parts will be. Occam would agree but I heard he was a boring dude.
  18. It's not just the prospect of losing him for nothing. It is also about how you value him and based on the reports I have seen he was not all that highly regarded. Probably an agree to disagree thing but I will not be losing any sleep over this one.
  19. So if this were a call up to replace an injured outfielder, would they not just call up Broxton? He'd be allowed to be recalled due to injury inside of the 10 day window. In other words, if Brinson is coming up now, it has to be to play everyday from here on out, right? If there is no trade and Brinson is an injury replacement then Broxton is basically done as a Brewers.
  20. Yeah, not buying that argument on Diaz, Bickford, or Clark. Not sure I'm really even buying it on Diplan. Ray and Erceg are the only two in my opinion that have vastly under-performed.
  21. Saw this in a tweet Cordell in Colorado Springs: 1.059 OPS Cordell not in Colorado Springs: .673 OPS So given our depth in the OF and that Miller Park is not one mile above sea level I have absolutely no problem with the trade. You do have to be careful with this. Assuming it is anything like pre humidor Coors the reality was usually in between the new numbers, not closer to the away OPS. Hitters tend to play better at home to begin with even in pitchers parks and when you get used to a goofy park it affects you when you go on the road. I get that but we are talking almost a .400 point split.
  22. 2 months rentals was not the plan. It was young controllable talent, or so I thought. Eh, a GM needs to be flexible. The most likely path for Cordell was that he would go unprotected in the rule 5 draft and someone like the Padres would pick him. If the likely choice is to lose him for nothing or trade him for something we might be able to use this season, then I think Stearns made the right move. Now, if it were a prospect with more upside and a potential future with the team, then yeah, controllable talent would be ideal.
  23. #3 Didn't hustle on a defensive play so he got yanked. Just spit balling some options here because that is a strange spot to pull a guy.
  24. Maybe it's Phillips and Brinson is being recalled?
