  1. I said I was speechless last night, and that got deleted. Therefore I will simply say my thoughts and FTJ's are in alignment. To be honest, that lock and the deletion both speak volumes. It is Brian's site and he can do with it what he pleases. That said, threads can now be locked for a full moon, black cat in the room, and anything else. I can't see that as a positive.
  2. I don't get the drama, no one can mention who the PTBNL is. Sadly, it was leaked out, I assume by the Tribe, but that's neither here nor there. Both Brantley and Green are members of the Brewers until they are informed differently...just like the 170 other guys under contract. I'm sure most players wish they were good enough to be considered.
  3. Many people have no understanding of success cycles, building from the bottom up, comp picks, and so on. Only an idiot team would have held onto CC, but many folks are waiting for an inevitable 15 game win streak to get back into the race. Letters like this are done to soften the blow to the herd.
  4. Gagne too, and he "faked it" so much he missed a ton of time. If you believe in conspiracies, you would think you would tire of being wrong over and over and over...
  5. Hoffman is a one inning guy. That's not the type of guy Doug will go after.
  6. It must have been discussed with McGwire at the time, as all knew he would be dealt.
  7. Betancourt may be able to refuse a AAA assignment. Turnbow's performance does not matter to anyone, he might return to form as quickly as he lost it. If not, N-ville sucks...no lose situation.
  8. Raffy's numbers are far worse than anyone on the staff, including DiFelice and Dillard. Who goes to make room for him?
  9. The bullpen saving will not matter in September, they'll have plenty of pitchers. It only matters for the 44 games up to 8/25, when they have 2 days off the last week of August. I agree, 2 wins is a ton when you're tied for the wildcard lead.
  10. Without sustained improvements its doubtful the Brewers can keep up this attendance pace They were well ahead of last year's pace and probably would have drawn 3M regardless. Just a stab in the dark. Doug and Mark A have done everything to build a winner.
  11. Big Mac the year he went from OAK to SL.
  12. The big risk with Burnett is he gets injured and you gotta pay him for nothing.
  13. Cain is barely a fraction of Brantley, I can certainly see why CLE would rather have Mike. If it's Laporta and Brantley, they might be working out a 3rd prospect like Axford was way back in the original deal.
  14. Brian and Bill know more than they are letting on. They seem to be very careful every time CC comes up.
  15. Dick Justice is a moron. Next week, he'll say something else that is the opposite of what he just said. He just types out loud, and then wonders why bloggers make fun of him. Stupid archives.
  16. Why would a FA decide to sign for less? They've waited for years to be FA's and choose their own futures. The idea of giving that away, especially Sabathia right after he gets dealt, is silly. The Brewers are slightly more favored than other teams to sign their own, but that's about it.
  17. Anything is possible, but I don't see CLE, a team with a terrible bullpen, throwing us a capable reliever in addition to the top SP on the market, and one of the best SP's in MLB.
  18. Ajay, what more could the Brewers want? They have little use for position players, and an effective reliever like Stetter is probably the first to go down.
  19. COL is right in the race, and SD is not out of it either, as bad as the NL West is. There are not many teams out of it, by any means, today. Many more will be by 7/31, but that list is short right now. How long has it been since a proven young SP has been traded? Cain is not going anywhere.
  20. Do they check to see if the card works? I probably have 20 cards open, but only have a couple actual cards...could I ask companies to send me a card and then cancel it to get free drinks? I don't even drink, it just seems like many would do this.
  21. How can LA, who has a horrible offense now, deal Kemp?
  22. Little doubt Burnett is the 2nd best SP currently "on the market". Whoever does not get CC will discuss AJ.
