  1. The kid the Nats got is 23 and doing well in AAA. Comparing him to Taylor Green, or any A ball kid, is pointless. Even the Huntsville 4 is not in AAA, though Gamel projects higher, and Escobar obviously does and is untouchable. I'm sure the Crew can get a plus relief guy for Gamel, but choose not to. After all, 30 innings is just 30 innings. EDIT: 30 referring to this year, of course. Rauch is not a FA, however, but many deals can be made in the offseason.
  2. If you have to think about whether to use a signal, you are simply a horrible driver. It's like only checking your blind spot if you aren't sure no one is around, and so on. I delivered pizza for 5 years in Eau Claire, and the only thing that kept me accident free was defensive driving. Our drivers averaged an accident a month, and it was rarely their fault. The same guys kept getting in them though...they figured everyone else was at the top of their game. They weren't. By the way, there's nothing wrong with driving in the left lane if there is no one trying to get past you. It's usually far less crowded than the right lane, which is reason enough to hang out there. Less cars, fewer accidents.
  3. Poor Cecil. HOU doesn't seem to have a clue. That said, some disparaging Wolf were saying the Crew should get him a couple weeks ago. He might be a slight upgrade, but the Astros are not contenders, and should be selling.
  4. Off season, it may make a lot of sense. Not today. After this season, I think Hall and Hardy/Weeks will be shopped heavily, without a doubt.
  5. You can volunteer to pay, but they will likely just scan it and let you in. I've never done it, but enforcement is all but zilch.
  6. That means my snack on the way to MP is 1200 calories. No wonder I'm heavy.
  7. In many parts of the world, that's not a contest, it's dinner.
  8. I do wonder why it would be better for a guy to pretend to pass out from alcohol consumption rather than use his mind to make a decision.
  9. Ben, is your answer (submitted before the ticket offer) an attempt at humor? I think I know you well enough to realize that's not what you would predict if your life was on the line.
  10. If DC wanted Weeks for Cordero, no way is that group nearly enough for Rauch...probably looking at a top 5 guy plus Braddock, at least.
  11. Dave Weathers for Cain (or Hurricane, or that type). Maybe Chad Bradford.
  12. Both of those are too light...Marte is worth two picks after the year, far better than that pair. Gonzalez is worth far more than Nelson. I'm not sure who to say the Crew will target, but they will need to offer up some legit prospects, unless they add just a serviceable arm who is overpaid or going through a rough stretch.
  13. Yep, Cain would be my choice as well, thye have plenty of OF's.
  14. Capuano did seem oddly optimistic he would be in MIL next year, given his arby status and injured state. He gets it, as he's a smart guy, so maybe discussions have already been had and a handshake minor league deal struck...I had assumed he'd be elsewhere.
  15. Not to mention Craig is a solid defender at SS and 3B as well. Durham is subpar only at 2B.
  16. To me Nelson is a better option than Durham at the current time. Nelson has a career 800 OPS at AAA, Durham is a 787 career OPS guy in the bigs. It's an easy choice, to say the least.
  17. Durham won't be offered arby, he'd have to be offered $6M. No picks for him.
  18. I agree with Chuck Barkley that a warm Krispy Kreme is the best food on the planet. I get some every time when I'm in Milwaukee, and then eat them on the way to Miller Park. Regualr donuts have so much weight to 'em, KK's are full of air and just glide down. However, many folks feel just like Mtrebs.
  19. Durham and Weeks in some kind of "go with who is hot" combo improves the team, without a doubt. The irony there is, we might actually see Weeks as a PR/defensive sub for Durham some days. Rickie seems to be more on the ball lately, taking balls and swinging at strikes, but as an insurance policy, Durham is a nice choice.
  20. Angel is not going in a minor deal for complimentary pieces. Take his name out, and it makes sense.
  21. A game to SF is not a big deal though PF. If it is 2 guys, it's a hinderance, but not a huge deal. They have likely already turned the page on 2008.
  22. That's what was reported Thursday/Friday in SF, naivin. Heck, if Mota does go, he could have a good month and go to a contender by 8/31. He was throwing 95 last time out. His problems are probably mental or minor, or both.
  23. I do not believe I have commented on LuCroy's potential, other than to say I have seen him mentioned as a potential reserve in the bigs...which certainly has value, albeit slight compared to the megastar he has already been appointed here, because of a few good PA's against crappy competition. Personally, if he is a reserve someday, I'd be giddy, as that is a fine return for an early pick, other than the 1st round, perhaps.
  24. JT would give them an extra loogy, add depth in case of injury, and Stetter would only miss 40 days. As I said, he's not a star, but he's better than Choate. His numbers versus RH's are much better than Shouse's as well, meaning he can be a good bet to give you an inning. Doug is looking for minor upgrades at this point. If it is JT, Mota is gone on Tuesday as well. Heck, he could be going to SF in the trade, if the Crew pays his salary.
