  1. I agree with Brett. The Pirates need to be torn down and this guy seems to get it. If you're a player, you should play and shut up.
  2. He's an average 1B. Considering what a guy like Carlos Pena did last year, it's the least likely position I'd sign long-term. Check out Gleeman for the numbers.
  3. The Twins have a 3B now, so I would not see a match there. He's a nice role player, but as I said, has he picked up a bat or glove yet?
  4. As Gleeman points out, the Twins signed 2 average players to long-term deals and are now taking a ton of risk in case of injury. I'd be a little hesitant there was no mention of Joe Mauer, who is a potential franchise player, not merely solid.
  5. He also gives you a lot of inside info, what scouts think, and so on.
  6. I've watched 5 minutes here and there, but I barely know anyone. It should be called Generic Rehab.
  7. I would only look to buy the sold out shows, but that does seem hit and miss. I'm unhappy the Hannah Montana tour appears to be over for now.
  8. I keep looking at selling stuff on Ebay as a part-time gig, now that playing poker online is reserved for those who can actually play at a winning level, darn it (I made $2300 last year, $2100 of it in one tourney...one bad beat, I was a break-even player for 2007, bonuses included). Anyway, I keep hearing the key is to sell one thing over and over, as you can't know the value of everything. That's where I'm stuck...I can't really decide what I want to specialize in. My current idea is tickets of concerts and sporting events, as it is not a "make $1 a day" thing, but has the potential for loss as well. Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated, I'd especially like to hear people that you know are doing well, and what they are selling.
  9. The GDP is still going up, so there is no current recession. Many do not feel there will be one at all, as it takes 2 quarters to have a recession, and most economists feel Q1 of '08 will show growth. The current condition, unless a recession occurs, is usually called a slowdown, or a slow growing phase. Of course, both major Dem candidates have been using the word "recession" freely since last summer, but saying it does not make it happen.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif EDIT: Changed GNP to GDP.
  10. I don't think many folks see Escobar hitting like JJ, JJ is a well above average offensive SS. But, Escobar's defensive skills make him very good if he hits at all. Even if he doesn't hit, he still might start for a few years.
  11. Average SS's only hit .330/.405, so if he can get up to that and be a plus defender, he'll be a very rich young man.
  12. The women's final is viewing heaven if you like tall women. I just think it's nice that the gal's side is fun, as Federer has made the male side dull and irrelevant.
  13. He's 20 and in AA, that alone speaks to huis star potential. The Latino kids are always skinny. He's never going to be pudgy, but he'll fill out.
  14. Many folks will spend it right away though. Add that to tax refunds, it may well boost the spending enough to matter. Jim Cramer suggested yesterday to "just buy any retailer", before the market went up 300 points. Banks, home builders, and retail have all been beat down so much, they are (were?) artificially low. And in times of less than robust growth, gov't deficits is generally accepted as sound econ.
  15. Koskie will have a handful of teams interested, but at this moment, he is not able to play. Spring training is a month away. Much ado about nothing.
  16. Recap up at Ramblings.
  17. Rivera cannot get on base 30% of the time in AAA, he's strictly depth. I'd say he were a dime a dozen, but as a C, he still has a tad of value, because only about 5 C's in the game can hit.
  18. I doubt if they own over 25% of the team, and maybe not even that.
  19. The 81st game would be one that would sell well on its own, obviously. They want to maximize tickets sold and revenue, that's what they are in business to do. Cubs/Cards games in SL are always 50/50 as well. Expecting anything else in Milwaukee is foolhardy. Take the money and run.
  20. I'm not a homophobe when it comes to the male body, Bullox. Though, thanks for breaking board policy.
  21. I think some of you fellas are lacking confidence in your masculinity. Guys can walk around naked anytime around me...for me, it's a simple no contact rule.
  22. Actually End, since all the talk has been about May, most of the posters have simply been incorrect. That said, I have nothing against "riding the hot bat", which is what Ned did late in the year as well with Dillon and Gross as well. Russ, I think you might need some sleep. There's no doubt someone will be telling you privately you broke the rules of the forum, and I will not stoop to that level. Have a nice day.
  23. Hart did sit a couple games in early April. Most of the talk has been about his time in May, however. I'll give you 2 games if you wish.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  24. The injury happened in April, End. I have spoken about this numerous times, but how 'bout we read some JS archives? Corey was unavailable in the Cubs extra-inning game that was just broadcast on Extra Innings, which was 4/21. One look at Hart's game log will give you all you need to know about when he got hurt and then became a part-time, basically platoon player, until he was healthy.
