    Yo and Nyjer (perhaps one of his hit vs. ARI), unless someone thinks Morgan may be traded at some point. I said there would be one of Braun hitting the HR that clinched the playoff spot, but that likely won't happen now. Aramis would be a good guess. Those 3 and a historical one will probably be 4 of them in '12. Mark A and Lucroy would be other possibilities. If Greinke/Marcum signs an extension, they make sense too.

    Greg, if you want to discuss this further, take it to private. That said, anyone who lived through the Obama administration that can claim they have not witnessed actual criticisms blindly brushed aside, don't talk to me about living in a fantasy world.

    Teams rarely have their everyday players play other positions some days. Even guys who used to play that spot never seem to go back, Brandon Phillips used to play SS, but since going to 2B never plays there. Hunter Pence used to play CF, but hasn't since becoming a regular RF. It also is hardly good for defense to have Hart bouncing between 1B and RF, it would probably be a negative for him in both spots. It might be a mental thing, but no one does it. tossing it out as an option, when it isn't going to happen, doesn't accomplish anything.

    Off topic, but... They questioned McCain's eligibility because he was born on a military base in a remote part of the world. Politics, especially today, lead to minute details being studied. The claims of racism made every time someone has a legit criticism are not only thin-skinned, but diminishes actual racism, which still exists, though is getting less and less over time because of the races marrying and becoming far more "mixed" than any time of history. Looking 10-20 generations down the road, very few "purebreds" of European descent will exist, and the color issue will be even less than today. There will still be ignorant folks (the whole light skinned blacks versus dark skinned blacks comes to mind), but it will be less and less. 10 years ago, we still had people talking about black QB's, and other than Mike Hunt, who is so out of it the JS should be embarrassed to print his drivel, we now have QB's winning the Heisman and transferring in to Madison to play their final year and many have no idea what race they are, nor do we care. I personally did not even know Wilson was black until Hunt wrote about it, forgetting they had Otis Flowers and Tony Lowery as QB's two decades earlier.

    Maholm is a ground ball pitcher and keeps the ball in the park, so his downside is limited. This does tell you how valuable a guy like Narveson is, a minimum salary guy who compares to Paul. A precursor to a Garza trade. Love what Theo is doing though.

    I looked at the backup OF market last night in case Aoki does not sign, and it's pretty weak, the top guys have definite warts, Juan Pierre, Johnny Gomez, and Rick Ankiel are the top three in my mind. I'd love Gomez if he could play 1B, but he never has, and as mediocre as he is in LF, I have to think it's come up before.

    Schafer and Gindl need to play every day, not sit on the bench getting 100 AB's. That may well be where Aoki fits in.

    I hit my limit tonight. I'm sure I read 40 articles since I installed Cookie Culler, and the 15 articles read warning had just flashed, so it's not accurate, but Culler does not seem to have worked completely either. Should have to restart for it to kick in?

    Thanks Nate. I know those jobs tend to have very high turnover in part due to high quotas.

    Crandall should be in just for time spent, as a player, manager, broadcaster, and so on.

    I am currently looking for a PT job. The places I am going to apply are hotels, convenience stores, and grocery stores...trying to avoid food service for the time being. I just read through the whole thread, and none of these things came up. 1. Besides filling out their app, and paper clipping a resume/cover letter, and asking for manager on duty when I drop it off, any other bits of advice? 2. Any other high turnover jobs not involving food? 3. Is there any place to look I may not be thinking of? Classified ads are almost nonexistent, and I've seen no ads on Careerbuilder for basic entry level jobs.

    I clicked on about 15-20 JS articles today and it seemed to not recognize my excessive free reading. Plan JS back to normal may well be working.

    Signing a LH hitting 1B seems unlikely.

    I've discussed those vets available many times on Ramblings, and unless a Derrek Lee wants to sign cheap and without a job guaranteed, it's about as good as anyone. Of the six on my last list, of which two guys have now signed, it is the 2nd highest of the 7 (those 6 +1) OPS versus LHP, and there's no way Keppinger is signing a minor league deal. Not sure if they'll go with a hard or soft platoon on Gamel, but he and Green were horrible versus LHP last season, so they'll likely protect him versus tough LHP at the very least. Conrad may not have been signed as Mat's 1B partner, but you can bet it was noticed he was a 1B/2B/3B who was a switch hitter who hits far better from the right side. MLBTR said he chose MIL over TB because of a greater chance for AB's, and those aren't coming in place of Weeks or Ramirez, barring injury of course, and Green would seem to be the top reserve at both spots anyway.

    Casey, I do not see where you add the sites to "protect." Advice?

    I've liked what SD has done so far, and the GM has a fine track record in ARI, they just needed a few adjustments and they won 90 games. Cashner may well be used as a reliever to protect him or set him up for success, but I do not feel he means long term, unless they see him as a dominant closer. I like Alonso more than Rizzo, especially in SD, as Rizzo sounds like a masher, with Alonso more a line drive guy.

    .358 /.465 RH, far better than lefty, and has played 1B. He might well end up as Gamel's platoon partner, as they aren't going to keep Green in MIL to get 150 PA's backing up Weeks and Ramirez.

    Videos as we think of them today, as a genre, mini movies almost, were rare. Many of the older "videos" are taken from concert footage and variety shows. I'm sure it was an idea that people just felt "would work," much like ESPN brought in 24 hour sports.

    You have to have a "no purchase necessary" option in WI, I do believe. Only exceptions are raffles for charity.

    It will take me less than 5 minutes to bookmark the Racine and Madison papers, and Tom H usually links everything from Twitter. They'll sell more than 35, but I don't see it working. What's astounding is, so many sites have figured out how to sell ads on the sides, but the old media acts like it is unfathomable.
