  1. Not sure if ANA has a match, but do they have a DH for '11?
  2. Those stud AAA pitchers are worth their weight in gold. You just don't see them dealt often.
  3. A season and a half of Hart is not going to get you Wheeler or a Yo like prospect. Lawrie might, but I see no benefit in that. Equal value for Hart is probably less than Sanchez, or it wasn't 3 months ago. Sanchez has been a guy whose been labeled an underachiever and mentioned in rumors for ages. Now that he's put it together, he isn't worth less, he's worth more. If he can add some quick innings and get up to 200 IP, he might be a #2. I doubt that will happen, but I would have questioned a 3.50 ERA prediction as well.
  4. Travis can make a fine PH/defensive replacement at 1B, and maybe will develop into more. At the moment, 5-6 games out of the playoffs, they'll pickup an upgrade and hope for the best.
  5. Sanchez's BB/9 and K/9 ratios are almost identical to Nolan Ryan's, so I would not worry about that. Sanchez is still just a solid SP rather than an ace because he throws so many pitches and is unable to go more than 6 innings many nights, something Ryan did not experience, to say the least. Is he developing slowly and still getting better? Possibly. Or maybe he'll settle in as a 4 ERA guy who throws about 180-190 frames a year. Doubtful he's ever a top guy, but you're not going to get an ace for Hart, especially not 1.5 seasons of a pretty expensive Hart. You don't hear trade rumors for Yo, and for good reason. You gotta get those top guys while they still are prospects, one way or another.
  6. [quote author=X ellence wrote: [/b]I really don't think the Giants need to do anything. Pat Burrel has been a huge addition, Huff is good, Posey is finding his footing, and Sandoval is starting to wake up. If they add something, it should be a middle infielder. SF uses Travis Ishikara at 1B much of the time. Needless to say, they'll be adding a 1B or OF before the deadline.
  7. Bumgarner won't be dealt for 1.5 seasons of Hart. He probably would not be included in any deal. Untouchable, unless Cliff Lee is involved.
  8. Lucroy, Escobar, Axford, Braddock, and McGehee makes this ironic to me. If they are the best option they play. If not, they do not. Gamel still has a future, but his career numbers at AAA show him to be inconsistent, though he's still plenty young, maybe that should be expected. I still think Mat may breakout and force a move with a .400/.500 second half. He's still the best bet from the inside to play 1B or RF next year, if the incumbents do not return.
  9. Briggs with a nice recap. I see Inglett as a potential stopgap in '11 for Lawrie, I called him a poor man's Frank C when he was signed, and truer words I've never typed. Maybe a younger version of Frank C, as we saw FC at the twilight of his fine career. As I often mention, they'll have oodles to spend next year, as huge money drops off, not to mention if Corey/Prince/Rickie (or 2 of 3) do not return. If they go cheap with Lawrie, Inglett, Gamel, and the like, that will leave huge money, maybe $30M, to spend on a couple arms and maybe a position player. Mark A has said he doubts Marlins' style rebuilding would go over in MIL, and attendance/ratings wise, he's right. Doug has often talked about how Parra and Narveson will remain inexpensive next year. I think we could see an '11 team made up of 5 guys making $40M and 20 guys making the other $40M. That's why I'm not concerned about the cost of a young pitcher they might get in trade. Hart will make $8M, Prince $12M, minimum. If you deal one and add a 3.30-3.70 ERA for the same money, no one will complain a bit.
  10. I consider Davis untouchable. Shields and Garza might make too much for TB, who draws little and gets very low TV ratings due to a lack of tradition. Garza and Shields are both solid SP's, and yes, they'll get paid. Garza has 3 years of team control arby years left, and Shields will only make $7M over the next 2 years, with options after that.
  11. I don't think expensive will scare the Crew away, they're losing a ton of salary off the books, plus Prince and Corey, probably will make about $22M next year. Sanchez is probably still improving, he's still youngish, but he still isn't averaging 6 IP/S. Plus SP's who only give you 180 IP's are few and far between. I would assume Runzler and Wheeler would bring laughter. I can't even imagine a package working, so Doug/Gord will have a very tough time. Waldis Joaquin and Thomas Neal might fit somehow into a package with Hart and a reliever.
  12. Hellickson would seem to be untouchable...but TB could promote him and deal whoever he replaces, and/or who Lee would replace. That could open the door to Shields/Garza being dealt.
  13. To echo others, I'd just get them the cheapest one at Best Buy, in the $299 range. For e-mail and solitare, what do you need?
  14. My original was Nice Call Blue.
  15. Another Bad Call...simple yet descriptive. This can be locked.
  16. I like the both the above, but my idea is for people to immediately know it is a bad umpiring/officiating site. "28" sort of does, but not to many. I considered "Tomorrow" but dropped it for the same reason.
  17. I am not using the word "blind" in it, for PC reasons. That is also why the twice e-mailed suggestion of "Kill The Ump" will not work. Nothing's really jumping out at me yet, keep 'em coming.
  18. I assume Yo to DL, Lo up, and then back down when Davis is activated. Maximizing 25 man space.
  19. Hello. So if someone was going to start a weblog with simply links to examples of bad umpiring/officiating, what do you think a good title would be? Reply either here or feel free to pm me. I have an idea in mind, but I'm going to wait to post it as to not influence others.
  20. A Google shows you can probably scare them off with bright lights, ammonia, and other stinky stuff. I'd try that first, and maybe give the DNR a call.
  21. Most "insiders" seem resigned that Ridnour will sign with the Knicks, now that the Lakers chose Blake.
  22. Sources say 3 way trade between Bucks, Cavs, Nets. Redd to Cavs, Harris to Bucks, Ilyasova, Jamison to Nets. From a NJ sportswriter's Twitter. Makes sense, as the Bucks have several 4's right now.
  23. Dooling is a near perfect example of a generic backup PG, who does have some skills (size, 3 pt shot) that seems to have appeal in MIL. Probably will sign a 1y deal.
  24. More walks than K's, and a walk an inning for a 25 year-old in AA...he's quickly approaching former prospect status. If his velocity is still good, he may be worth a flyer, but his worth is minimal. He's on the 40, so he may have to be removed at some point.
  25. Just depends what else they can find. Everyone wants to sign for big guaranteed money, but many are unable to. Probably half the free agents on that list are coming off one year deals, so many guys sign 'em.
