  1. Was thinking the same thing, especially since apparently money is not the motivating facor for Ohtani. Bob Nightengale‏ @BNightengale More Huge respect to Ohtani who is proving that money is one of his least priorities. He leaves $200 million in free agency by coming out two years early and now giving up marketing riches by rejecting New York market 6:15 PM - 3 Dec 2017
  2. Bob Nightengale‏ @BNightengale The #Marlins receive RHP Nick Neidert, IF Christopher Torres, and RHP Robert Dugger from #Mariners for 2B Dee Gordon and international signing bonus pool money. Neidert, who spent most of last season in Class A Modest, is considered best of prospects
  3. Per Ken Rosenthal's Twitter: RHP Nick Neidert, #Mariners’ 2nd-round pick in 2015, heading to #Marlins, per source. First: @Jim_BowdenSXM.
  4. Maybe 1b? You can plug in anyone at 1st. I'm very curious the return, I'm expecting maybe Carlson and a lower minors guy. Nothing too crazy. Their already giving Gamel a shot at 1B (speaking of plugging anyone at 1B).
  5. As long as Deadpool doesn't become PG-13.
  6. I know it's basically a one year sample, but why not have Thames at #2 and Santana at #5. -Thames hit .180 with RISP, but he got on base at a .359 clip. -Domingo hit .300 with RISP, which a similar OBP of .371. Again it was only one year, but I cringed when I saw Thames up with runners in scoring position. Both will strike out a fair share, but I trust Domingo to come up with a clutch hit more than I would for Thames.
  7. Agreed. There are so many ways to get any game/highlight you want, that the Sunday Night Baseballs and SportsCenters of the world become pretty irrelevant. With the Redzone package and MLB Network having live look-ins and instant footage of important plays, watching full games for many have lost its luster. The times are all about instant gratification. People will watch their team, and see highlights on everything else (if that). Hell, I missed the Bucks game yesterday, but within 30 minutes of the game being over, I watched Giannis' highlights from that game on Youtube.
  8. I would not trade Hader, Burnes, Peralta, M. Harrison, Erceg (lack of 3b depth), Diaz, Huira, Ray (diminished stock, big year for him), Lutz, and Yamamoto.
  9. Absolutely. Ohio State will do everything in its power to stop the run a make AH beat them. Protect the ball, don't take unnecessary sacks, and live for the next down sometimes. I'm thinking Chryst will have a few wrinkles to throw out there as well to keep OSU honest.
  10. I'm well aware of that. I still would have thought the return would be comparable, if not better that what Detroit got for trading away a, at the time, 34 yr old pitcher who was owed around $85 million in Verlander.
  11. I have had that Super Bowl feeling this whole entire week. I just want to see Wisconsin shut up the "national experts" who haven't watched 5 minutes of the Badgers this year. Cannot wait for Saturday to come around. Don't turn the ball over, and win special teams and I like our chances. Wisconsin - 27 O$U - 23
  12. That's crazy. Trading a league MVP for two fringe-to-outside top 100 prospects and a pretty decent 2b. Would have thought Heliot Ramos would have to thrown in there as the young prospect with really high upside.
  13. No issues with bringing Vogt back. Actually really liked the way he called games. It became way more obvious when Bandy and Susac came in to play. Nothing wrong with bringing in veteran leadership to still an inexperienced team.
  14. 1: Bad Santa 2*:Die Hard 3: Home Alone 4: Home Alone 2 5: Elf Sleeper Pick: Jingle All the Way (Arnold is so bad,he's entertaining)
  15. JT Barrett had arthroscopic knee surgery done on Sunday, but is expected to play on Saturday. I would have to imagine this will affect his ability to run.
  16. Agreed. Getting Iglesias would likely cost a package like or similar to Harrison, Ortiz and Burnes which is WAY more than I am willing to give. Especially if their trading him in the division. For what the Brewers would have to give up, I think it would be smarter to allocate our trade pieces to the SP. That back end of Hader, Knebel, and Iglesias would shorten some games up though...
  17. Add in the fact that he's a lefty bat (and can hit left-handed pitching), can play all outfield positions, team-friendly contract, I'd be all for it. As mentioned before, leaving that massive park will only make his numbers even better. I would prefer Brinson to be traded for a SP, but for Yelich (and maybe Gordon?) I'd use him as the main piece.
  18. Interesting that Phillips is exactly who I thought of also for a potential Manaea trade. I would absolutely be interested in a Manaea for Phillips. Maybe Ray would be of interest to the A's as well. I think Manaea has mid-rotation potential and would gladly move either or both of those two in a deal for Manaea. Didn't the A's decline our trade proposal for Sonny Gray because Phillips and/or Ray were a part of it? Not sure Billy wants either player. I think Manaea would be a good fit, but imo it would take more than either one of those players to get him.
  19. This is a good point. It takes two to tango. Either the players or at least their agents knew what was going on. No way they should escape punishment. If they do, any time someone gets a PED suspension they just need to say their organization made them do it and they'll get off. https://www.foxsports.com/south/story/atlanta-braves-mlb-investigation-international-penalties-kevin-maitan-112117?amp=true In this article they say he turned down a $10 million offer from another team to join the Braves for just over $4 million. If that's the case, it's hard to imagine Maitan not knowing he was getting paid under the table from the Braves.
  20. This is the best I could find regarding signing these players: Jeff Passan‏ @JeffPassan Important note: Every team can sign Kevin Maitan. Teams will be able to use money from the current bonus period (2017-18) or dip into next year's pool (2018-19). They cannot combine the money from both years. 3:15 PM - 21 Nov 2017
  21. How much are we legally allowed to give him for a bonus? It's not like we should be restricted by our own financial situation. Don't teams still have to use international pool money to sign these players?
  22. Agreed 100% with this. Harrison was a true 3 sport athlete; about as raw as they get. Everyone knew he was a project, but his raw talent was unquestioned. Add that with his two freak injuries that cost him a lot of valuable time, and of course he will be behind in comparison to players like Santana. That doesn't make his ceiling lower than Santana's. If Harrison takes another step forward offensively, we're talking about a top 50 prospect.
  23. Van Vliet is who he is. He is a finesse player on both sides of the ball. He's a lot like a college version of Thon Maker (at this point). If he gets the ball in the post, don't expect much. He will almost always be out-rebounded by Iverson, Happ, and maybe Davison. What I hope to get out of AVV is a couple of threes a game to open up the paint, and hopefully some semblance of an adequate defensive player. Right now he's just too soft. Pritzl is a bit more of a surprise. I remember last year when Nigel said Pritzl was the best shooter in the country. There has been a tiny glimpse of that, but like you said it's time to bring it during games and do it consistently. Stop pump faking every time you have an open shot and just shoot the darn thing. I think it may take one game for him to get 20 points to remember he should be a focal point of this offense.
  24. Well not really actually. Davies could easily be included in a trade for Archer. I don't think we would do that, but it isn't impossible. We'd be giving up a 110 ERA+ pitcher with 4 years of team control as well as some other assets, for a 108 ERA+ pitcher with 4 years of team control but who is 5 years older and is more expensive. And we'd still have a hole in the rotation. ERA doesn't tell the whole story of course, in a 1-for-1 trade I'd still take Archer, but any trade like this would require far more in terms of prospects than the difference between them warrants. But again, the main thing is that we'd have the same # of proven Major League starters on the roster after the trade as we did before. So another one needs to be found. If we're trading for a major league starter, it should be for prospects or major league position players. You're technically correct (The best kind of correct) of course; it's not actually impossible. But it's never, ever happening. Agreed. If the Brewers are trading for Archer, they will not be trading away their second best SP at the moment. Even with Nelson healthy, it'd be hard to imagine Davies getting traded.
  25. I find that to be a little bit surprising. I would have thought the Badgers would be slight underdogs in this game with the lack of experience.
