  1. I can’t wait to see what Turang can do at ss.
  2. Yadi rolling over in his grave. What was that?!
  3. 3 first pitch strikes so far. Last night there were 15 first pitch strikes looking, and 7 additional first pitch strikes. Maybe it’s just the Cardinals
  4. Is the book on the Brewers to throw a first pitch strike because they won’t swing?
  5. 9-2 Mets in the 8th. Marlins bumming me out.
  6. The Brewers have shown that they can score 16, 4, 1, 1 runs in four consecutive games. I don't believe much in momentum from game to game, but I would feel better if they would score some dang runs in these next five games.
  7. Marlins are 3-7 against the Mets this year. And who knows what the doubleheader will do. I bet they hate having to play that.
  8. I am completely in a wait and see on him. I don’t feel the same excitement that some on here do. I think this team has the best speed I’ve ever seen on a Brewers’ team, and if that is all he is bringing, I’m not sure he’s worth the roster spot. Hopefully I can see him hit this week, and give CC my approval if and when he asks me to sign off.
  9. Brewers had a 4-3 week. On the road. Coming home where they are 45-30. Time to panic.
  10. We don’t know anything like that in the slightest. If I said Counsell stuffs his money in his mattress, it would be just as factual as you saying he seems like the type of guy who does well. We saw how Madoff really hurt a lot of “rich” guys. And a lot of rich people like more money. We take that “hometown” view of Counsell because it either aligns with our personal views, or our wishes for what will happen,.
  11. I do it this way. Team A is 82-70 with 10 games left. How many games can Team A win if they go 10-0? 92. Team B is 85-67. They would need to get to 93, so they need 8 wins. Magic number: 8. (7 if they own the tiebreaker.)
  12. Watching Cubs-Rockies. I was unaware that the cubs lose the tiebreaker to all of the other teams they are locked up with (Marlins, Reds, D-Backs). I like that.
  13. I think that people not in professional sports move their families for a different opportunity all the time, and it works out. It's one thing to uproot your family and move from Dubuque to the Quad Cities for a better but middle class job. It's another to move them to New York with all the perks and benefits that working for the Mets would provide. The ability to "take time off for your family" is something that only the very wealthy can usually consider seriously. If CC wants to go, maybe he thought the family reason would keep the media off of his back and give him the least heat and scrutiny. It's like thinking a player will take a discount because he likes it here. The kind of discussions that happened with Greinke and others. CC's hometown will be here for him to return to at any time. I think filtering my experience and views about home, family, etc. are very different, to CC, and to apply them to his circumstances only sets me up for disappointment. I travel a lot for work, and I love it. It provides a good living, and I love the new cities I get to visit. Some of my colleagues hate being in airports and hotels. So who knows? I hope they bring CC back. He's a great manager. Why wouldn't Stearns want him?
  14. Also, I am remembering my hope that the Bucks would get the one seed this year to avoid playing both PHI and BOS on their way to the NBA Finals. Oops.
  15. I think that I have learned that forecasting the playoffs and who you want to play is not fruitful. I remember the discussion in 21 was around hoping the Dodgers got knocked off so the Brewers wouldn't have to play them, and then the Brewers got beat up by Joc, Rosario, and the cast of July 31 misfits that Atlanta picked up. I don't want to play the Cubs in the Wild Card round, but they may be a good matchup as they stumble to the finish. I'm not going to hope for the Marlins, because while I think the Brewers are better, anything can happen in a best of three. In 2019, the Brewers were beating the Nationals for about three hours. Then, Michael Taylor got "hit by a pitch", Grisham and Hader happened, and it was over in an instant after that, it seemed.
  16. Is Arraez playing? He sprained his ankle and did not play the last two days.
  17. Can I say, a 7.5 game lead with 9 to play makes me feel pretty gosh darn optimistic!
  18. My job has a lot of travel coming up. It’ll be the secondary market for me, and lonely cheering in out of town sports bars
  19. That was fun!! Magic number Babe Ruth!
  20. Our two rivals, Chicago (Crow-Armstrong) and St. Louis (Winn), have top prospects with poor hit tools, it would appear.
  21. Mikolas is nothing without his stache
