  1. Burnes wouldn't miss a beat on the Dodgers. Their starters can't pitch in the post-season, either.
  2. That gif is...disturbing.
  3. Arnold announces his intentions with Burnes, Woodruff, and Adames: https://www.google.com/search?q=tobias+funke+fire+sale&rlz=1C1RXQR_enUS954US954&oq=tobias+funke+fire&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqBwgAEAAYgAQyBwgAEAAYgAQyBwgBEAAYgAQyBggCEEUYOdIBCDU3MjZqMWo3qAIAsAIA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:06620f9f,vid:280yPTyei0U,st:0
  4. @Joseph Zarr: I am asking you this because of your avatar. Chorizo had a dismal year in the sausage race. I believe they had 10 wins all year. I pull for Chorizo every time, but they broke my heart all season. In Game 1 of the Dback series, Chorizo was Winkerish. Late start, not even competitive, it was over as soon as it started. What would it take to improve Chorizo in the sausage race? I can't believe the Brewers will go into 2024 with that spicy, gaping hole at the 5. I'm wondering if there are any sausages at Nashville that could take over Chorizo given the proper seasoning. And yes, I used "they" as a pronoun, despite the fact that if anyone could be assumed to be a "he", it's a sausage.
  5. Good lord, if trading Josh Hader threw this club into a tizzy (allegedly), they might fold up and quit the season if Adames got traded at the deadline. He at least is likeable and the unquestioned team leader.
  6. I haven't logged on since Wednesday. I am sure most of my thoughts have already been expressed. Just so many disappointments in the past week. That broken-bat double by Carroll broke me at the same time. Coming after a 93 mph floater for a home run, it was just too much. After not one, but two, 40-foot swinging bunts that, instead of being a double play, advance TWO runners to second and third. Just crap luck. I was in the stands on Tuesday, and did not fully see the Longoria play. Upon seeing it on tv, I just shook my head. The pitching and defense model is good, certainly for 162 games, but the margins are so small. As small as the distance between a finger and the knob on Michael Taylor's bat in 2019, or the big toe on Brice Turang not catching the HBP. But at some point you need to slug. Single, walk, single, didn't work. The team looked tight. Arizona didn't. Add in Corbin Marcum's struggles, and it was not to be. I just hope that 53 is okay. I feel badly for him. He seems like a good guy, and I love watching him pitch. Whether it is for MKE or someone else, I want him to have the opportunity to pitch to his capabilities again. To get injured when he was that close to the kind of FA contract that he was looking at seems cruel. I will be back, probably sooner rather than later. I will be in Arizona in March when Spring Training resumes. I am excited for the young guys to improve. Why can't the Brewers have the next Corbin Carroll? When the Brewers were bad, as they were for most of my life, there was a much more gradual denouement to the season that began as early as June some years. This ending is more like the ending of the Sopranos. Snap to black. Hope can suck the life out of you some times. This ended up being a lot longer than I thought it would when I started.
  7. 93 mph homer, broken bat double. Somebody get a live chicken.
  8. Is it possible that the game could be at 3???? If so I’m screwed.
  9. You’re right, suggesting Turang might not be trash was way over the line by me.
  10. Robin Yount. Guys can improve, even if they don’t become a hall-of-famer and two-time MVP.
  11. Canha hits it on the nose but right at the left fielder. Glad Sal got a run in
  12. Sure there were empty seats, but it was a good crowd. I hesitated to buy tickets because I could not have gone to a day game. And the crowd was plenty loud, until about the 345th man left on base. It's remarkable how quickly that game turned. 3-0, Perdomo singles, and four pitches later the game is tied. Then, the middle innings were such a slog. 2 hours in, only in the top of the fifth. It was hard to keep the energy up.
  13. I was at the game last night. I was so bummed, that my morning ritual of Brewerfan with my coffee didn't happen. Couldn't bear to read last night's game thread, couldn't make myself log on this morning. Been tough to shake that. Fortunately I have a ton to do, because I left work early yesterday. After everything in the game went wrong, it took us longer to get to the interstate from preferred parking (1 hour 10 min) than it did to drive back to Madison (1 hour 5). Everything about last night sucked.
  14. Isn't Shawn Marcum available?
  15. Delete the optimism thread.
