  1. 2nd and 3rd with no outs, tie game in the 9th. The only way that isn't an automatic bunt is if you've got 3, 4, or 5 up. Everyone else shouldn't even have to ask. Not to mention scoring anything has been incredibly difficult. You got 6 runs for the series... you force 1 in and go to hader. Bunt doesnt work I blame pina. Broxton fails to get 1 in I blame broxton. An inept offense destroys analytical decision making.
  2. CC WITH THE LOSS AGAIN.... NO BUNT for the 2nd 3rd 1 out... turn to barnes instead of hader for the win. Freaking dolt manager!
  3. Well ya got to play for the big inning... computers say so
  4. Blue: Dont you know you should bever bunt because we strike out alot... sheesh
  5. Clancy: I see garza dealt in the offseason. That 5 mil option is a great value. I have only talked about the suter rotation spot in regards to this year. Nelson Anderson Davies Woodruff Suter is the way i want to enter next year... guerra long. Then rotation talk is over minus injury replacement or ineffectivity replacements until 2019. The hang up now is that you cant take Garza out now and taking out woodruff or suter is not what I'd want to do.
  6. Why does he have to prove he can't be a starter... when we know that RIGHT NOW he won't prove he can be a starter. His control will not allow him to get deep into games. His seconday offerings are rarely strikes. He needs to sort that out. I've called for him to be in the pen for 2017 and now 2018. Yet, I'm no where near writing him off as a starter. He's not ready to be a starter yet. It's foolish to see if he can cut it there now because he likely won't in his current state and that would prove nothing in regards to his ability to start once he refines his control. He's up now because he's so talented that he's already useful... he's not up because he's ready.
  7. Pitching saving us from complete disaster. If our pitching was just average right now I don't even want to think what our post AS break record would be. We'd be at least 5.5 games back on chicago.
  8. With a guy who strikes out literally almost half the time on deck? Cuz villar was going to have a more impactful AB? At least it washed...
  9. Villar no bunt... will be stunned if we get past 2.
  10. Not sure swarzak or hader are unless theyput up a few here. Someones gotta take the ball.
  11. Can't believe we got out of that... that was a lot of suck.
  12. No Yes... he had 1 bad outing and generates gidps
  13. Ok Davies got 2 ip max. Is Swarzak or hader available?
  14. And the control goes well beyond walk rate. He's been living on all 4 edges. Up down in out, with pitch movement and his tempo. Add that to lefty and he's a very odd duck. When judge just stays in the box... when batters are actively thinking about stepping out to slow him down. He bothers them. It's all very different. That being said... his pitches were not as pristinely located vs STL. He was a bit fat more than he had been in the first starts. Jeffress did him no favors as well. Despite that 5... 2.5 era since stepping in for Woodruff. That's hard to ignore. Woodruff Garza Suter will likely decide this by the time Anderson gets back... but if Woodruff builds off this start... and looks like inning 3-6.1 more than 1-2... it's going to be a hard choice. With Suter it comes down to one thing in my opinion. Can he hit edges like he did prior to STL or is STL the actual norm. I also wonder if he's using batter analytics and targeting their bad average regions for his out pitches. Wouldn't surprise me if Havard wanted all the analytics on his side he could possibly use. Haven't noticed this... or it hasn't jumped out at me. Just crossed my mind.
  15. I heard the Sale talk as he was coming up and after seeing him I think it goes a bit further than mechanics body type velocity. Mechanics are part of this but Hader also has that same "hidden" release point that makes his FB velocity seem even higher than it is. Like Sale, batters can't seem to catch up to it. It's 95 but it also jumps on them. That's a nasty weapon. That's where the Sale comps end so far. I don't think that part of the comp is an exaggeration though. Lots of work needed for Hader to rival Sale. But he's got that gift and the potential.
  16. He doesn't come close to Sale without added control and a rounded out arsenal. He can come close to Miller as is. I think moving him into the rotation now is putting him in position to fail while alleviating zero stress on the BP (and adding stress from not being in the BP) as he completes his development. I think he can complete his development in the pen while being a huge positive weapon. If he went to the rotation as is I'd expect to see something like Vince Velazquez last year. 5.45 ip/start... 4.12 era...3.5 bb/9(I think hader would have that even higher). That's a waste. It mitigates his value. Is SP Velazquez better than Garza Davies Suter? No! Is Velazquez better than them talent wise... just like Hader...easily! I'd hate to see Hader in the rotation putting up numbers no better than Davies Suter Garza as he figures it out... when he could be a force in the pen while he figures it out. Right now his shortcomings are hidden in the pen due to short outings and stuff overriding control due to seeing batters twice at most. That won't be the case in the rotation. Unless you believe he can't develop control and secondary offerings without starting... there is zero reason to make him a starter now. He is here for 2 reasons. 1 Already has a MLB dominant pen arm. 2 CS wasn't helping him develop.
  17. Horribly premature but when he settled in after the 2nd on... that movement power fastball and getting ahead of batters quickly sure did feel eerily similar to the Nelson we've seen all year. Especially when you felt he'd be out after 5... then 6... then closed the book 6.1. That was very horse like. If that's more than a glimpse and more of a reality... Nelson Anderson Woodruff lacks that flashy star power ace but its an incredibly formidable 1-2-3. If Davies Suter can settle into that 3.75 range, which doesn't seem like a reach as of late, add knebel hader in the pen and that's one heck of a staff. This offenses capabilities is closer to the first half than the bottom of the league they've been since the asb. That's a dangerous team. Despite a mess of a pen this year.... and a mess of Guerra/Peralta this teams 5 over 500. Replace that with Woodruff/Suter and a better pen down the stretch. After Sunday Cubs probably felt real good about being up 2.5. They didn't bury this milwaukee team and if the offense snaps back to being even respectable the Cubs are in some trouble.
