Teams in a rough spot of sorts. 3 kids you want to groom for a MLB starter gig, but you are trying to win now. Every starter we expected to pitch well has been rough. Every guy we stopped expecting QSs out of (davies anderson) are pulling a Miley season. Gio is Gio, he can be a consistent 4.0 guy. Davies you can't touch right now because he's pitching like our ace and is in a groove. Anderson in the pen has been worse than Anderson in the rotation. He's 2 ER in 9.2 in his 2 starts. Woody is the only kid with a FIP that says his ERA is a lie. He's the most diverse of the 3. He's the one who is ready to cut his teeth as a MLB starter. Unless you are pulling Chacin out of the rotation, and I think that's a mistake, there's no rush. Hader got rushed up, was a throw in piece, had 1 nasty pitch and we accepted that he'd be a dominant pen piece. We got plenty of value out of him. Peralta was one of 3 pieces in a rental trade grab bag that usually amounts to nothing. He has 1 nasty pitch. If we don't stash him in AAA to develop, then accept that he has the stuff to be a dominant pen piece and move on. We'll get our money's worth out of that. But our AAA organization is not in the mountains anymore. Pitchers can develop there. Even if that means Houser, Brown, Burnes and Peralta are hanging out together. Fine, but they have to be diverse. Woody 60-25-12-3... the curve and change are grading poorly Burnes 66-24-5-5.... but his FB is a -13.5 so he should sit in AAA... He was 59-34-7 last year and the FB was his plus pitch. Peralta 80-16-4 Looks like the splits on this guy: Hader 86-13-1 Peralta's diversity is that of a pen piece. Let him be a pen piece or put him in AAA until he can throw other pitches. We as fans get a bit silly about some of the arms we have in the system. Hader Woody Burnes Peralta Brown Rasmussen will not all be starters. Getting high leverage BP pieces who can wipe out an offenses for 4 innings between 2 of them is a great thing.
