  1. As of 3:36pm CST he is hitting 2nd as DH against the Pirates.
  2. I saw an interview with Bush recorded last night where he said he was catching a plane today. They were at home in Texas, so presumably he would be in Pittsburgh tonight.
  3. Probably unless there is a three team deal somehow where he lands with another contender.
  4. If he turned down a half billion dollars from DC and Boras is his agent, the chances of him signing an extension are probably zero.
  5. Maybe Josh Bell goes elsewhere now.
  6. I doubt the Nats would send money back, you could be right about swapping Hosmer for a different bad contract.
  7. What if Hosmer nixes it with his no trade clause! That would be incredible, a huge package like that down the tubes because he'd rather be in the nice weather of San Diego on a winning club, then in DC on a currently irrelevant team.
  8. I assumed that was GM speak, but yeah probably Michael Taylor. great.
  9. Impact bats starting to get thin. Too bad the Brewers won't land Willson Contreras, probably the best hitter still to be traded.
  10. They probably could have done better getting one player for Hader instead of four. However, it probably wasn't possible with the Padres as San Diego likely needed to unload some payroll and the Brewers likely wanted to get a major league late inning reliever in return, those two complications likely diluted the prospect haul.
  11. Kelly is walking 5 batters per 9 in High A, without dramatic improvements in his control he won't make the major leagues. Nobody knows if he's capable of making those changes, so it's no big loss in my opinion to trade him away especially given that they'd be using option years on him and a 40 man roster spot just to see if he can figure it out.
  12. Obviously the three biggest prospects the Brewers traded away are Lorenzo Cain, Jake Odorizzi and Michael Brantley. All of them all stars with at least ten year careers. The real question is would anyone rather have those three players than the ride the team gave its fans in 2008 or 2011? More over, I'm sure the Brewers are happy with Willy Adames, but 5+ years of two pitchers will almost certainly be worth more WAR than 5+ years of Adames. But like the others above, its something the team probably would do again in an instant.
  13. As an aside battery typically has a component of intent. However, many jurisdictions also have statutes where recklessness in a situation where an individual should know great bodily harm will result, is ostensibly the same as intent. It all depends on the charges, I'm sure there's probably a law review article out there somewhere. Also, Bush has had multiple other run ins where he beat people including with a golf club. So to say it's incorrect to call him a violent felon is really splitting hairs.
  14. Like I said, it's not my team they can do what they want, I don't have to like it. But it speaks to what type of organization they are when they purposefully acquired somebody with a lengthy rap sheet whom three other clubs SD, TOR and TB decided wasn't a good enough human to play for them. That's all I have to say about it. Fun Fact: It was Matt Bush intentionally plunking Jose Bautista that lead to the famous brawl were Rougned Odor clocked Bautista in the face.
  15. Reckless battery? Recognized in many jurisdictions as a felony. I guess it depends what the charges were. I can tell you that Bush took a longer prison sentence so he could emerge without probation as opposed to a shorter prison term and probation. Why? Because he wouldn’t be able to travel on baseball road trips if on probation. Even before he went to the can he knew someone would give him another shot at baseball. A real class act. It’s not my team, so who cares; but it does render their marketing as a family event rather ironic with a violent felon on the team.
  16. I would say it’s more than possibly; it’s probably. There is more talent in Lamet and Bush than the other folks who’ve gotten innings out of the pen: Trevor Kelley, Luke Barker, Gustave, Strzeleski, etc. In fact, the Brewers bullpen is pretty deep with experienced quality arms: Taylor, Williams, Boxberger, Bush, Lamet, McGee, Gott, Suter and Milner. In fact that’s 9 arms and Peralta is being activated today, perhaps Milner or Lamet goes to AAA. Although Milner doesn’t deserve it but Lamet is also being paid 5 million dollars
  17. I’m pretty sure it’s the first guy they brought in that did hard time in prison (3 years). Average Joe goes to prison for a violent felony, he’ll struggle to get a job after and be ostracized. But throw a baseball 97 mph, and we’ll cheer for you because you paid your dues.
  18. I don’t think it moves the needle one way or the other. Mathias sucks, and Kelly is years away from the major leagues.
  19. I’m stunned people are intrigued about a guy who ran over another humans head while driving drunk, fled the scene and went to prison. He’s a pile **** who shouldn’t be in baseball, let alone play on a team that implores you to bring out the family
  20. He went to prison for killing someone while drunk driving. Nice move Brewers, can’t wait for my family to cheer for a violent felon. What a bunch of losers
  21. I don't think that's true either. In fact, two of the last superstars the Brewers had they signed to career long extensions in Ryan Braun and Christian Yelich. Pro-all players by and large are going to go to free agency and sell themselves to the higher bidder, it doesn't matter what team they play for.
  22. No team can. Bryce Harper left Washington as a free agent, Albert Pujols left St. Louis as a free agent. Mookie Betts was going to leave Boston as a free agent resulting in a trade to LA. Corey Seager and Max Scherzer departed LA as free agents. Ohtani most likely is going to leave the Angels as a free agent.
  23. Lamet has not started a game in over a year, and when he did start for San Diego in 2021 he only made it through the fifth inning twice. Optimistically, maybe they view him as a hard throwing right handed Suter.
  24. I agree with whomever else posted it first. Unless they swap Limet off right away, they have 5 starters better than Limet, and he's making 5 million this year (a lot for a long-man/middle inning reliever) and will head to arbitration again after the season. Barring a lights out performance, he probably gets traded or non-tendered after the season.
  25. I don't think a first place team has every played for next year, but with Hader being traded I do recall there have been rumors about some of the other players on expiring contracts: Wong and Narvaez. Maybe the front office is disappointed in the team, and are trying to remodel it on the fly.
