  1. It's not impossible to think the Brewers could package, Ruiz, Gasser and some of their other prospects for Soto. A trade of Hader and Prospects for Soto and Taylor Rogers looks a lot better.
  2. I would assume Limet is to even out the salaries a bit. Padres are already over 200 million and a revenue sharing recipient, they were paying Limet almost 5 million dollars to pitch in AAA.
  3. As we have seen, closers get paid big dollars and Williams is heading into arbitration. Therefore, I bet Rogers is the closer and Williams stays in his 8th inning role for now
  4. Except if the bullpen blows several games now, and they miss the post-season, then they'll be the chumps in Brewers history
  5. The savings are not even that great, considering Lamet is already making 5 million dollars, and will surely get a raise heading into 2023 and wouldn't be amongst their preferred 5 starters.
  6. Good bye, Jonathan Davis I guess I get it as a salary dump, but pretty underwhelmed, hopefully when all the shoes have dropped the Brewers will be a better team. Right now they are not as talented as they were yesterday.
  7. Haha, you realize the Mariners missed the playoffs in 2021. Plus, Graveman was never an All-Star and Seattle uses a closer by committee approach. Sure, if someone is going to give you Mickey Mantle for Josh Hader, you make that trade. Otherwise, it's kind of counter productive to what they're trying to do as an organization to dilute their overall talent level.
  8. Do the Brewers have 26 players, or better yet 5 outfielders better than Joc Pederson? I would say the answer is no. The real issue, besides his concussion, is that the Giants are not a rebuilding 90 loss club. They have a positive run differential of 31; according to their Pythagorean they should actually be 54-48. Unless they can get young major league ready talent that can potentially help them next year, they may likely roll the bones with the current squad and maybe they can get hot/lucky and snag the 3rd wild card.
  9. With an OPS of .901 in his last 40 games, the Yelich critics have gone silent
  10. It’s kind of funny in a way, the Yankees have in essence told Gallo he’s not good enough to play for them (a perennial contender); and posters here an in essence telling Cashman he’s wrong Gallo’s a good hitter and center fielder.
  11. I guess it depends what you want. If it’s homers and not much else, than Taylor’s your guy. They’re in first place so it’s hard to argue against success. But if the team has a weakness offensively it is when they fail to Homer they typically don’t score often. Therefore more all-around hitters probably make the roster better. More importantly, the Brewers are thin in CF, with a journeyman veteran currently splitting time. If the goal is to add as much talent and depth to the roster in a playoff push. Laureano makes a lot of sense and that he’s not an impending free agent makes the cost more justifiable.

  13. Bell is the best rental hitter available. In a perfect world they’d also get a CF, Tyrone Taylor is just a guy, He cranks just enough homers to make you forget he’s hitting .230

  15. Too bad, a nice player to age to even out the highs and lows in the lineup.
  16. I don’t dispute teams need a flowing pipeline of talent to remain relevant over the long haul. But prospect lists out out out by journalists/websites are basically a bunch guess work. Tom Haudricourt, wrote (or at least go-wrote) the BA prospects lists for Milwaukee, and outside of spring training he would not have seen those players actually playing in person because he was covering the major league beat. Scouts might share what they’re seeing, but no organization is going to divulge to a journalist where they have players rated. There’s probably internal disagreement within the organizations as to which minor league players are best. Being years away from competing it’s a nice return for the Reds to get some talented A-ballers with some success already under their belts, but nobody knows if those players will be stars or nothing.
  17. Yep, and Kris Bryant and Juan Soto had a 1.000 OPS in the minors, Bryce Harper was over .900. Those are the “can’t miss guys”. A 21 year old with an .840 OPS in A+ may have a shot at playing in the majors, but it’s a long road ahead. Garrett Mitchell looked like a cornerstone middle of the order hitter in A+ too (1.100 OPS). The prospect love is way out of control. Teams are lucky if they have one or two players per draft/international signing period make the major leagues let alone become stars. Seattle acquires a controllable #1 starter for 3 players who in 2-3 years may or may not see the major leagues at all (let alone become regulars or stars) and someone said they overpaid!
  18. But they actually did empty the farm. Don’t you remember the massive sell off in 2015: Gomez, Fiers, Aramis Ramirez, Gerardo Parra and Jonathan Broxton. Followed by tanking in 2016 and another sell off in July of that year: Aaron Hill, Jeremy Jeffress, Lucroy and Will Smith? The reality is the Brewers really haven’t been a draft and develop team in the last 15 years. Besides Tyrone Taylor, every other regular, and most the bench players were acquired in trades or signed as free agents. Yes, Burnes, Woodruff, Suter, Williams and Ashby were drafted by the Brewers but Lauer, Houser, Hader and Peralta came over in trades. Boxberger, Gustave, Milner, Gott we’re all free agent signings. And the team has been pretty good using the trade and free agency method of building a roster. The Angels aren’t going to trade Ohtani this year, and certainly not to the Brewers because their minor league talent isn’t that well regarded.
  19. There’s a 90% chance none of those minor leaguers ever play for the Reds. Over pay… ha
  20. Luis Castillo netted the Reds two A-Ball players and a AA player? Good news for Milwaukee as it’s unlikely they’ll need to trade Turang. Mitchell, Frelick etc. to upgrade their roster. I remember when the Brewers traded Kevin Seitzer for Jeromy Burnitz and plugged him directly into the major league lineup for the next six years. Those days are certainly gone now when a controllable top of the rotation starter brings back three players all of whom are years away from the majors.
  21. Brewers need to Jack some bombs if they’re going to win this one.
  22. I get it; you’re okay wasting generational pitching talent while hoping some minor leaguers develop two to three years from now. I trust the front office isn’t going to mortgage their future to win now; it hasn’t been their M.O. but I hope they bring on as much talent as they can this year and Laureano is without doubt better than anyone the Brewers have lined up in CF this year.

  24. I guess, I’d like to see them finish first in a winnable NL Central this year, but lack of offensive production from CF is a problem and Acuna and Judge aren’t available. Sometimes a team has to seize and opportunity
