  1. At this point, I hope for Choo for first with Hiura. For third base, the only two options I would find intriguing at this point are Maikel Franco and Asdrubal Cabrera. Heck even if we pulled off signing both Franco and Cabrera I would be pleased. Cabrera and Hiura at first with Franco and Cabrera at third. Urias becomes the rover. Franco would at least provide a quality righty power bat that can hit 25 homeruns in a full season. At this point, we need another power bat. Certainly not everybody needs to hit dingers as I’m all for high AVG/OBP guys, but we basically have two guys on the roster that we can confidently say will hit 20 homeruns in Yelich and Hiura. That’s just simply not enough. Franco also just turned 28 late in the season. He’s in his prime and could still possibly have a little untapped potential. Give him a guaranteed two year deal under $10 million to lock down third for 2021, bring in Cabrera on a 1 year deal around $4 million, and sign Mike Fiers to round out the rotation for around $5 million.
  2. Yeah, after being with the Dodgers the last 7 years and being in his mid 30’s, he probably doesn’t want to move his family half way across the country. But I believe the Brewers have the best offer on the table and is waiting it out to see if the Dodgers budge. I think we will know his decision by the end of the weekend.
  3. He broke his hamate bone and got Covid last year before ever playing his first game for the Brewers. Hamate bone injuries and surgeries are known for sapping guys of their power. He also may have never gotten fully confident in his wrist again post surgery. He hit .240 last year, something Arcia failed to do 3 out of 4 years for the Brewers prior to last season. Urias had 100 at bats for the Brewers. Give the guy a break. He only has to be a .260/.330/.725 to be a pretty significant upgrade over what we’ve grown accustomed to the last half decade at SS.
  4. But then won't the Cubs need a third baseman... and Turner's wife's family grew up as Chicago sports fans... Yup, I’m now crying...
  5. If the Cubs flip Bryant for prospects, is it possible or likely, they become a suitor for Turner? You’re gonna make me cry...
  6. Purely my own speculation, but I believe that if the Dodgers truly wanted him, he'd be a Dodger by now. I’ve thought this too. I think they want to move on from him and he was waiting it out to see if they changed their mind. At this point, I expect him to sign the next couple days with Spring Training around the corner and I don’t see it being with the Dodgers.
  7. I’m normally completely against signing players in their mid 30’s to any deal longer than 2 years, but I could get behind signing Turner. He is an elite hitter that hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down. He’s a big righty bat to pair with Hiura and Cain to complement Yelich, Narvaez, and Wong. He walks a bunch, strikes out under 17% of the time, and provides some much needed protection to Yelich in the lineup. Wong/Cain Hiura Yelich Turner Narvaez Cain/Wong A top of the order like that can compete with anybody, but without Turner we are severely lacking another middle of the order bat. With the DH coming, his hard hit percentage the last two years being the HIGHEST of his career, and our massive need at the corner infield spot with nothing in the pipeline, he’s the perfect fit. The more I think about Turner in a Brewers uniform, the more I get behind the idea. I would have no issue doing a 3 year deal to get him to Milwaukee. Something along the lines of 3/$39 million or so. If he’s dead set on getting a 4th year, I would most likely still do it as long as the contract is set up for him to receive less later in the contract and with the AAV being brought down because of the 4th year added. Something like a 4/$45 million with him receiving 13, 13, 11, 8. He could regress to a .260/.330/.800 hitter in his 4th year and still be a quality 5 hole hitter on a competitive team. Thoughts on a 4 year deal structured this way knowing the DH is coming?
  8. Yelich and Hiura will both hit 40 homeruns and become the most feared 3-4 punch in baseball!
  9. You put the cleats on and I'm up there!
  10. Sixto... You’re scaring me...
  11. He’s always been a little underrated in my opinion. Good player, will be turning 39 mid season. I imagine he won’t garner a ton of interest, but a Choo/Hiura platoon at first with Choo being able to be the 4th outfielder/spot starter and Hiura getting some time at second base too, they would have a ton of different ways to mix and match the offense to get who they want in the lineup. Choo would be a great addition to this team. I’m really starting to get excited about what this offense can do! If we sign Choo and bring in Turner, we will be the favorites in the NL Central. Man I hope we pull this off!
  12. Even extending that down to the 6 hole with Narvaez and that lineup looks solid! A nice bounce back season from him at .260/.350/.800 like he had the two prior seasons and we will be looking at a very good offense!
  13. Really goes against the we don't have any money crowd.... I mean Mark did just recently sell his investment business. Maybe he’s going to surprise us the next few years with how they spend?
  14. How about a guy like Matt Shoemaker? Long injury history, a couple of those injuries were extremely fluky. I imagine he could be had on a minor league deal, but I wouldn’t mind giving him a guaranteed deal of 1/$1 million with a couple million more in incentives. I would love a Mike Fiers reunion though. Innings eater that keeps you in the game and will give you 6 innings. He would really help solidify the rotation.
  15. I could also see Marwin Gonzalez, Stearns knows him well... I'm definitely on board with adding Gonzalez or Cabrera on a 1 yr deal. Outside of his one season where he knew what pitches were coming, he has been a slightly below average player. I wouldn’t mind him if it’s something along the lines of one year for $3-4 million, but I would prefer Cabrera for $5-6 million as I see him as a better all around player.
  16. On my trade proposal with the Twins for a return package of Arraez, Larnach, and Rooker, I’m certainly not using Hiura as just a throw in. We would be getting a 2B/3B with 5 years of control that walks MORE than strikes out with an OBP approaching .400, an outfield prospect on the cusp of MLB who I believe will be a multiple time all-star and be a similar player to Alex Verdugo, and a long time first base fix who could essentially be slotted in opening day for us. We get younger, cheaper, more controllable talent basically all at the MLB level filling 3 spots long term. It frees up money for next offseason where there is a nice batch of guys that would intrigue us to pair with Yelich on a long term deal (Rizzo, Bryant, Seager among others). Edit to add that we haven’t produced squat for homegrown talent hitters since Braun other than Lucroy. Getting 3 guys for 5+ years each and filling 3 spots long term on the cheap to allow resources to be spent on a big bat like Rizzo while Yelich is in his prime seems to make too much sense in my eyes. Pair that with the talent we have in the rotation currently and abundance of more guys on the way the next year or two and we could be looking at a 4+ year window of 90+ wins. This trade sets up the future perfectly.
  17. Twins Receive: LHP Josh Hader 2B Keston Hiura Brewers Receive: 2B/3B Luis Arraez OF Trevor Larnach OF/1B Brent Rooker The Brewers receive Arraez for 5 seasons who can play all over the diamond, but can be penciled in for third base. Rooker immediately becomes the 4th outfielder who has big time power and will come with 6 years of control. He can also see time at first base. Larnach will start in AAA and will certainly make an impact in 2021 and be a staple in our outfield for the foreseeable future. This move also would save roughly $6 million in salary, leaving room to bring in a guy like Cron for first and signing a mid rotation arm. Rooker could be looked at being moved to first full time. Yelich is also a possibility to be moved to first base full time, making room for Larnach and Rooker in the corner outfield spots. The Twins get much needed bullpen help that they’ve been looking to find for a couple years and get a young bat with huge potential to take over at 2B for Arraez. The Twins also can slide him over to DH in the future. 2021 Opening Day 3B Arraez CF Cain LF Yelich 1B Cron 2B Wong C Narvaez RF Garcia SS Urias/Arcia P 2022 Opening Day (With DH) 3B Arraez CF Cain LF Yelich DH RF Larnach 1B Rooker 2B Wong C Narvaez SS Urias Arraez, Rooker, Larnach, and Urias would all be making the minimum, leaving a significant chunk of change to be spent on a free agent to slot in the 4 hole behind Yelich with Hader, Cron, Garcia, Arcia, and Vogelbach all being able to be cleared off the books. Anthony Rizzo? Corey Seager? Kris Bryant? Lindor and Story will garner the most attention, but I don’t think we will be after those two. But I think a guy like Rizzo would be a huge get for us and we should be able to afford him with the cleared payroll, new tv contract, fans in the stands once again and should see a significant payroll increase from the $85 million range we will likely be around this season.
  18. As much as I would love to add Ramirez, I feel like it would make more sense to keep Hiura since he is so cheap and throw him at first and just go out and sign Turner to a 3/$40 million contract or so. You don’t lengthen the lineup by trading away Hiura to bring in Ramirez and the cost of Hiura + Turner is basically the same as just Ramirez. Just something to think about. We would still have a big question mark at first if we moved Hiura. Wong/Cain Yelich Turner Hiura Narvaez Wong/Cain Garcia Urias/Arcia P I can get behind that!
  19. Narvaez is a .270/.350/.750 hitter regardless of the results of his 100 at bats last season. Yelich, Cain, and Hiura should also be above average. Wong will be at least average to slightly above average offensively. Garcia is due to return to the mean of being a solid hitter as well. It’s too early to tell what we have in Urias and Arcia seemed to show some life last season in roughly 200 at bats. Essentially, acquiring Wong gave us a gold glove second baseman as well as an average bat, giving us a first baseman that will hit over 30 homeruns and could be a .280ish hitter. Isn’t improving at first and third what people wanted? Hiura shouldn’t be worse than Vogelbach defensively at first with being a much much better offensive player. The only hole left is third which could easily be filled with someone like Asdrubal Cabrera on a cheap deal.
  20. Love the signing!! Hiura to first is most likely or possibly a big trade for a third baseman with Hiura on the move? I doubt it since he’s cheap, but it sure got exciting today!
  21. McKinney looks like he could basically be Justin Smoak, but making the minimum. If he hits 25 bombs and hits .230, I guess why not? Certainly not ideal, but I wouldn’t mind it if he’s a 6 or 7 hole hitter as long as we make a nice addition for third base.
  22. I mean I would trade Woodruff for 8 Josh Hader’s. Bullpen the entire game Good luck against that bullpen! Get on it Stearns!!
  23. According to the trade simulator, which I don’t fully agree with, but Adrian Houser and Brice Turang seems about fair for Adames. Throw in Arcia if they want him too. I would do this deal and sign someone like Mike Fiers. And to prove a point of how unreliable that site is, Hader’s current trade value is 15.5 So essentially one prospect in the 85-100 range and that’s it. For 3 years of the best reliever in baseball two of the last three seasons.
  24. With recent rumors linking the Reds to Tampa's shortstop Willy Adames, could be a fun three-way deal that sends Hader to Tampa and nets Jonathan India in return. Not sure how keen the Reds would be on dealing him, especially to a division rival. India can also play second, but they're pretty loaded long-term there with Suarez and Moose (and I think Senzel can handle second as well). Keith Law had India at 88 in his top 100 he released the other day, and said he looked good at the off-site last year after a rough 2019. MLB didn't have him in the top 100, but did have him as the #9 third base prospect. How about we go after Adames straight up? Just move Hiura to first base and solve that issue and forget about him improving at second, we lock in Adames as the everyday shortstop for the foreseeable future, with Urias sliding over to 2B? After talking that whole situation out, I could really get behind this idea! That would give us a fantastic young core of Adames, Hiura, Urias, and Narvaez to an extent, bring in Justin Turner on a 3 year deal to get him to Milwaukee and we could really have a great offense. CF Cain LF Yelich 3B Turner SS Adames 1B Hiura C Narvaez RF Garcia 2B Urias P Then go out and sign a lefty 4th outfielder like Jackie Bradley Jr. to get another lefty bat on the roster. I would be quite satisfied with this for an offseason. But what would it cost the Brewers to get Adames?
  25. I mentioned it earlier this offseason, but it’s worth a mention again. I have no issue with the Brewers taking a step back this season if the payroll is going to be slashed extensively. Get all that dead money from Sogard, Braun, Garza, and Gyorko, get Garcia’s contract off the books, so you have all that extra funds to be spent in 2022. Look to trade Hader for young players with 4+ years of control and/or prospects. Maybe even move someone like Woodruff if someone blows you away with an offer. Also gives time for the collection of arms the Brewers have at AAA to develop and get their feet wet this season. Clearing those 4 players with dead money, Garcia, and Hader would free up ~$25 million.
