  1. Nothing grinds my gears more than having bases loaded and nobody out and getting nothing out of it. Ground into a double play, hit a sac fly, do something to get a dang run in.
  2. Great news on Yelich, hopefully he’s able to get back healthy here this week. The lineup just doesn’t look the same when he’s out.
  3. He’s 7/45 his last 11 games. That might be accurate that he leads the team in extra base hits with 6, but that’s certainly not much. Also his 15 RBI are propped up with 2 three run homers. Not saying they weren’t big hits for the club, because they were. Him being in the middle of the lineup is why he has quite a few RBI early on. It is too early to write him off. But it’s worth a discussion that if we get to June 1st and he’s hitting sub .200, a change will most likely need to be made. I’m curious what we have internally at AA or AAA currently that could be a possible replacement if needed.
  4. Shaw’s shine is certainly starting to rub off after the first week or so. If this continues and the Brewers are forced to make a decision on him, who do we have internally to replace him? Zach Green is one option they could look at. I’m not sure what else at this point we could do other than bring in a free agent or trade for one. Heck, even having Arcia at this point at third might be okay. It’s disappointing seeing someone like Maikel Franco that a number of people were hoping we would sign have a pretty solid start so far this season. He doesn’t strike out much either...
  5. I want to say one I can remember was against randy Johnson and the giants. I thought one was at Miller Park too. Maybe against the Pirates? Maybe he only pitched 8 innings against the Pirates and hit a home run in that game and won 1-0.
  6. Reposting for effect. I wish Corey the best, but a nice reminder that 4 innings means absolutely nothing vs. the big picture. So you’d cut Woodruff loose if he blew out his elbow tomorrow? Knebel is an all-star. He had TJ surgery. 80% of pitchers will have a major arm injury at some point. It was a cost cutting measure plain and simple, people can debate that all day long with both sides having merit. Sniping with “told ya so” is the lowest form of debate. I’m sure it’s more of trying to have people keep their emotions in check and to not freak out over a trade because of a pitcher pitching well for 5 innings. The Brewers made the right decision in this trade. The Brewers got it right and for some reason you won’t admit it. Knebel struggled in 2018, then had Tommy John surgery and missed all of 2019, and then struggled in 2020. 3 years of getting little to nothing from him outside of a small stretch at the end of 2018. All of that while coming off of a season where there was 0 fans in the stands. Also, we received an intriguing prospect in the upper minors. Woodruff would be able to get us that if he had injury issues and wouldn’t be simply DFA’d. To answer your question on DFA’ing Woodruff, that would be like Woodruff sucking in 2021, getting demoted for the majority of the season. Then, hurting his arm in Spring Training of 2022 and missing that entire season. Then when he comes back at the All-Star break in 2023, he struggles and we trade him in the offseason prior to the 2024 season. That’s basically the same timeline we just witnessed with Knebel. At that point, it would be hard to fault the Brewers moving on from him coming off of major surgery and two seasons of no production. And by moving on, I mean getting a prospect out of it. Like we did with Knebel.
  7. He was wicked with the bat, too. Between him and CC they could really swing it. Didn’t Gallardo have 2 games for the Brewers where he pitched a shutout while hitting a homerun and winning the game 1-0?
  8. He certainly has at times, but not enough. This was an obvious time to do it.
  9. The problem is with who? Robertson ain't that guy. I’ve always hated the thought of never using your backup catcher. If the starting catcher gets hurt, you always have an extra guy on the roster that can handle it for a couple innings. How often does the starting catcher get hurt and leave the game? I’m genuinely curious, but it seems to be extremely rare. And holding back on a guy 100 times during the season in pinch hitting situations for that MAYBE twice a year (at most?) where a catcher might need to be removed is dumb roster management in my opinion. Perez was here for a number of years. I imagine Robertson is that guy now. If not, I am sure Vogelbach could handle an inning or two with gear on. Sure it might not be pretty, but you make a roster move the next day. This just seems like a place where a manager could be innovative and put the team in a better chance to win. A team just can’t be operated in that way assuming a certain player is going to get hurt every single day. I’m sure I’m in the minority on that and that’s fine. That was an obvious situation to use Pina with the game on the line and a struggling lefty hitter up that struggles against lefties as it is. It was a very obvious decision in my opinion on what should of happened.
  10. Gallardo should be included too. Consistent and reliable for 7 or 8 seasons.. Not the highs of either, but really good. Clutch performance in Game 5. Gallardo was the man! Loved watching him pitch from 2009-2012. He had his walk issues, but he was as dominant as anybody when he was on. His curve was filthy when he had it going.
  11. Shaw is atrocious against lefties. I’m shocked Counsell isn’t trying to put the nail in the coffin here. Lack of innovation there once again. We all knew that result was coming. Glad to see the rest of the hitters in that inning be patient and do their job.
  12. Was it just me or was Ray not going to swing that entire at bat no matter what? Good for him drawing a walk though!
  13. I don't think they need to rent bats other than maybe 3rd. They need to get healthy and they need Hiura to get better. First base, shortstop, and possibly even another outfielder that can hit. I would love to see Hiura hit but I think he needs a new hitting coach and some time in the minors at the very least. It would be foolish to count on him this season. Hiura says “hello!” with a double on cue.
  14. Taylor hit it hard, but right at Bryant in left. Tough luck for him, I thought it was going to be extra bases.
  15. Puke. I hated that draft pick the second I heard it. I wish him nothing but the best and hope he performs, but that was such an awful pick. I’ll never get over how they passed on Puk and was clamoring for him when he was available to us. A lefty that threw around 100 and was arguably the 1-1 pick in the draft and we passed on him when he was somehow still available at 5. His floor at the time was basically an effective MLB bullpen arm.
  16. I was just coming here to post this. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is on his mind and making it hard to play baseball. If your mind isn’t 100% in it, you’re not going to succeed with how overpowering pitchers are these days.
  17. Haven’t seen Hedbert Perez in a lineup for a few days. Is he healthy?
  18. I wouldn’t mind seeing him work on his defense at 1B and become a RF/1B like Alex Kirilloff. That would arguably be his best chance at playing time moving forward with the Brewers and it would certainly be a big boost to be able to have a guy over there for a number of years. That would be something they could explore next offseason.
  19. One exception to the rule is that I did go to a Brewers vs. Angels match up back in I believe 2016 to be able to say that I’ve seen Trout play live. He’s an all-time talent that will retire as a top 5 player if he continues to produce like he has for the last decade.
  20. Bumping this. Rizzo is the man. Yelich bats second with Rizzo 4th and a quality right handed bat between them. Alternate Wong and Cain at the top. Hiura becomes the DH and can hit third if he figures it out, which would be ideal. Otherwise we can find a quality right handed bat for the third outfield spot, 2B, or 3B. Trades are always a possibility too. Rizzo is a 3X GG winner too, which would be appealing to Stearns. He was in on Rendon who is a quality defender at third. I could see us making a play for Rizzo to pair with a roster of gold glovers in Cain, Yelich, possibly Bradley, and Wong as it is. It’s crazy to think how elite this defense could be if he was added to the roster.
  21. Actually game 1 of the season. Sometimes I have a difficult time counting that high...
