  1. 3 hits for Garcia today too. I have a good feeling about this offense this season. Don’t sleep on this team!
  2. That was a big fly ball for Turang! Narvaez seems to have a nice level swing so far this spring like he did with the Mariners. He had that nasty uppercut last season, but it seems to be remedied. Hoping for big things from him this season.
  3. I get they want accuracy and basketball possessions at the end of the game are about as valuable as it gets in sports. However, there is simply too often they are going to the monitor "just to be sure" and it feels like every time it was easily the right call or too close to switch. The worst is when they go to see who knocked the ball out of bounds, the opposing guy clearly knocks it out of a guys hands, but then they start picking it apart because it might have still been rolling off the guys finger. I mean come on, it is like some kind of technicality. If a guy knocks the ball out of your hand it should be out on him...not you cause it was still rolling off your fingernail. Simply too much going to the monitor when everyone thinks it is unnecessary and a waste of time before they even see a replay. Yet, even the obvious ones take forever. Also can't stand how it takes 5 minutes to figure out if there should be 12.8 seconds or 12.3 seconds left. It should not be that hard. You can tell the announcers are even getting more and more sick of it as time goes on. Just need to jump in here to state that I think video replay has really put a damper on sports. Multi minute stoppages, nit picking every little detail like you stated above of if it possibly touched the end of his fingernail as a guy hit it out of his hand. I mean come on. Give a basketball team a couple challenges for the game if they want or something. But no more automatic reviews. Eliminate the review of every single turnover and scoring play in the NFL. Go back to forcing coaches to challenge. MLB is awful with the guy’s foot bouncing over the first few inches of home plate, the second baseman taking his foot off of second too quickly, clear and obvious tags or miss of a tag by a baserunner and it takes multiple minutes to do a review. I would honestly rather have the human error element, have coaches do arguing for their team, possibly get ejected, and be able to move on after a call than to have sports do what they do today. I know them ever going back to rarely doing any review or none at all is slim to none, but man would a game be much more enjoyable to watch without it. Baseball games seem to be multiple minutes longer because of coaches standing at the top step waiting, sometimes asking for a review, then it taking a few minutes. Basketball games shouldn’t take 15-20 minutes to play the last minute and a half. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
  4. Not surprising that they made this change now. The Brewers are running a pretty high payroll, especially with the losses they took last year and currently only allowing 25% of fans in. Do you want to pay a few extra dollars on food for a couple games during the season or run an $80 million payroll and not have Wong and Bradley? Thus, watching a pretty uninspiring group of guys giving us an extremely outside chance of doing much this season? The money has to come from somewhere.
  5. Giannis with the All Star Game MVP. Finished the game 16/16 shooting, 3/3 for three’s, and 35 points. The previous record for a player to not miss a shot in the All Star Game was 8. When Giannis was 15/15, he began pulling up for a three. Reggie Miller commentating the game said “No! No! NO!!” *Banks in three* “OOOHHHHH!!!! YES!!!!”
  6. Maikel Franco would look awesome on this roster. Good right handed power bat to add to the mix. I would feel really good about our offense if he was brought in. Against Righties: 2B Wong RF Bradley LF Yelich 1B Hiura 3B Shaw CF Cain C Narvaez SS Arcia P Against Lefties: 2B Wong CF Cain LF Yelich 1B Hiura 3B Franco RF Garcia C Pina SS Urias P Bench pieces are Pina, Franco, Robertson, Garcia, and Urias against righties. This would put us at 13 position players. I could get really excited about our everyday lineups with a roster like this! Vogelbach would be released, Shaw, Robertson, and Franco could see time at first as needed.
  7. Not exactly sure where to put this, but has anybody else heard that Yelich figured something out this past offseason related to his struggles in 2020, but would not state what he discovered? On the pregame show today, Rock mentioned that Yelich was quoted stating so at some point. I recall watching analyses on him and the only thing noteworthy was his stance may have been slightly closer together than in the past.
  8. Robertson has a guaranteed $900,000 MLB contract. Vogelbach’s contract is $1.4 million, but wouldn’t they only be on the hook for 1/6 of that since he was signed through arbitration compared to Robertson on the free agent market? So they could move on from him prior to Opening Day and only owe him roughly $250K?
  9. I stated this in another threat but I think Green is an extreme longshot to break camp with the club. With the way Stearns tends to operate if he can keep a Robertson, Vogelbach/Fisher type and also send Green down that's how he'll start the year to preserve depth. But then if Green does well in AAA or the Alternate site I think he could definitely get a call up when injuries or underperformance happens Good call. I’m not aware of who has options remaining on that list, but if Green has an option, I imagine he will start in the minors. I give Robertson the leg up then to make the roster if he performs.
  10. If they carry 13 pitchers, that’ll leave 5 bench spots, two of which will be taken by Pina and Garcia. I imagine Shaw will make the roster as the starting third baseman, which will put Arcia as the third bench guy as long as Urias isn’t significantly injured. Fisher will most likely take the 4th bench spot since he was traded for recently. He seems redundant at this point and it’ll be surprising to see us carry a third left handed bat in the outfield. The last spot I see coming down to Daniel Robertson, Zack Green, Dustin Peterson, and Pablo Reyes. But then where does that leave Vogelbach? It’ll be interesting to see how this battle turns out especially if Fisher continues to hit well. Vogelbach seems like the odd man out. Zach Green seems like the most likely to make the roster to see time at the corner infield spots. Shaw can cover first in a pinch too. If Urias is injured or any other infielder that’s making the roster at the end of camp, Robertson seems like the most likely to get that 26th spot.
  11. Personally, I think we have a lot of relivers that are going to be good this year. The list really doesn't include guys like Ashby and Small which could help later in the season possibly. I’m with you 100%. I’m high on File (unfortunate injury), Rasmussen, and Small. I just think one more consistent, known high end arm would really put the cherry on top of the offseason. Suter, Rasmussen, and Peralta will most likely do multi inning appearances. A guy you could rely on for one inning at a time and get 70 appearances in the 7th-9th innings to pair with Hader and Williams depending on who needs rest would have made it even easier to deploy Hader and Williams in those tough spots when the game is on the line. I am very confident in the ability of the bullpen and feel good about where we are at. Hopefully Boxberger can be that guy.
  12. With how inexpensive the relieving market has been this offseason, it sure would have been nice to add another late inning arm for $3-4 million on a one year deal. I have confidence in the young guys like Rasmussen, Peralta, and Topa to remain effective, but one more guy like Alex Colome, Yusmeiro Petit, or Mark Melancon would have been awesome to add to the back of our bullpen. If bullpenning and defense is our focus this season, one more reliable arm would have been a great use of finances.
  13. The Brewers also lack right handed pop in their lineup. Who outside of Hiura can you bank on to even hit 10 home runs? Cain and Pina might reach that, but outside of them, it’s just not going to happen. Especially if you’re facing a team like the Dodgers in the playoffs with their abundance of tough lefties. Braun would be a nice late season addition down the stretch and into the postseason.
  14. Most people that are tailgating together are a family and/or friends that hangout all the time anyway watching sports together on TV or just hanging out. I don’t foresee there being much of an increase strictly because of a couple hours of tailgating at the park. What about them sitting by each other at the park? Riding in the car without masks on? Hanging out at home with their friends partying anyway? But being outside tailgating is an issue? Come on.
  15. Who do you recommend? I would have taken a flyer on Cespedes who will be a lot cheaper than Bradley. Then what do you do the rest of the season after his 127 at bats are up (his 4 year average)? Or 64 at bats for his 3 year average? Then you’re back to square one after the first month when all the other relevant free agents are signed and he’s done for the year once again. I would have no issue still bringing in Cespedes right now and seeing what he has left in the tank. But banking on him getting 400 at bats at this point is a pipe dream. He can be the 5th outfielder and play first with Hiura as he hits both lefties and righties well. It would need to be something like $1 million base with an incentive of $1 million for each 100 at bats he receives.
  16. This was arguably the best way for us to upgrade our offense at this point in the offseason. I liked the Garcia signing last offseason, but he was so bad offensively that we couldn’t risk him not rebounding. We went from a potential black hole in right to a great defender that will conservatively hit 20 home runs for you. The floor of this team was significantly raised with this addition.
  17. This can’t be stated enough and should excite everyone. Something like 12-14 more home runs if every ball put in play in 2019 was at Miller Park. He’s a 25 home run hitter for us with great defense. I expect to see him in the 5 hole with Yelich 3rd and Hiura 4th. Wong Cain Yelich Hiura Bradley Jr. It sure would be nice to have a 1-5 like that basically every day and not continue to shuffle guys at the top. This is going to be an exciting team to watch!
  18. “I give the Brewers credit. Mark Attanasio the owner. He obviously did not have a good year financially. Even compared to other owners last year. The Brewers really depend on the fans in the stands. Their TV contract is not big in a small market” -Jon Heyman “This might be one of the best values in this free agent market” -Anthony Castrovince This is a great signing and one that gives the Brewers one of the top defenses in baseball. Pair that with an elite bullpen and “deadened” baseball, run prevention is the driving force for the moves this offseason. The pitching staff has to be excited knowing who they have in the field behind them. Yelich, Hiura, and Narvaez are locks to improve on their 2020 seasons. Cain, Wong, and Bradley Jr. added to the roster that we didn’t have in 2020. This is a 90+ win team if healthy.
  19. You basically just guaranteed that Stearns will sign him and will be our opening day right fielder It’s the Stearns way!
  20. You basically just guaranteed that Stearns will sign him and will be our opening day right fielder It’s the Stearns way!
  21. One of the few games I’ve gotten to watch this season. Coming into the game on a 5 game winning streak. I thought I would have a nice game to watch this evening. Being down 20+ in the first half isn’t what I expected to watch.
  22. Odorizzi had one great year in 2019 after two pretty average seasons, followed by 4 terrible starts in 2020. He’s also a fly ball pitcher. Hard pass for me unless he’s coming in on a deal at $5 million or less on a one year prove it deal. He doesn’t have the track record of being a great starting pitcher. At least not the last 4 years.
  23. Blue Jays Receive: LHP Josh Hader RHP Adrian Houser OF Tyrone Taylor Brewers Receive: 2B Cavan Biggio 1B Rowdy Tellez OF Randal Grichuk RHP Alek Manoah Blue Jays need pitching and get bullpen help and a young starting pitcher they can put in the rotation for a few years. They also add a young outfielder breaking into MLB. Brewers get a young middle infielder/3B, their 1B of the future, an OF on a not too bad contract of 3/$31 million, and a young pitcher with upside. Biggio becomes the leadoff hitter for the foreseeable future a good young bat to pair with Hiura and Yelich. Tellez becomes the first baseman of the future with Hiura becoming the everyday DH in 2022. Grichuk adds some pop to the lineup and basically replaces Garcia’s contract once he leaves after this season. Manoah is a big projectable arm that sits in the mid 90’s with a couple quality offspeed pitches.
  24. I was really excited to see him debut this season. This is disappointing. Maybe he can be a late season call up that can come in with a fresh arm down the stretch and into the postseason.
