  1. I’m with you on that. With the Brewers showing interest in both Rosario and Ozuna, it leads me to believe that they very well could be shopping Garcia and I imagine that a significant piece would be moved with him whether that’s Hader or someone else.
  2. Totally forgot he was a free agent this offseason. Would LOVE to add his bat to the lineup and it wouldn’t break the bank. He just turned 29. How about a 3 year deal worth $30 million? Lock up his prime years, add a good lefty bat with pop to really help lengthen the lineup, and still have some funds available to play with. Maybe package Hader with Garcia and then go out and bring in Turner on top of it? A man can dream.... CF Cain RF Yelich 3B Turner LF Rosario 2B Hiura C Narvaez SS Arcia 1B Vogelbomb P Now THAT is an elite offense even if Yelich and Hiura only rebound half way to what they did in 2019.
  3. Brewers 2021 Payroll Batters Lorenzo Cain- $16 million Christian Yelich- $14 million Avisail Garcia- $10.5 million Omar Narvaez- $2.5 million Orlando Arcia- $2 million Manny Pina- $1.65 million Daniel Vogelbach- $1.4 million Daniel Robertson- $900K Keston Hiura- $600K Luis Urias- $600K Tyrone Taylor- $600K Luke Maile- $600K Jacob Nottingham- $600K Total: $51.95 million Starting Pitchers Brandon Woodruff- $3.28 million Josh Lindblom- $3 million Corbin Burnes- $600K Adrian Houser- $600K Eric Lauer- $600K Total: $8.08 million Josh Hader- $6.67 million Brent Suter- $1.55 million Freddy Peralta- $1.2 million Devin Williams- $600K Eric Yardley- $600K Drew Rasmussen- $600K Justin Topa- $600K Total: $11.82 million Deferred/Buyouts Ryan Braun- $4 million Matt Garza- $2 million Jedd Gyorko- $1 million Eric Sogard- $500K Total: $7.5 million Total Current Payroll: $79.35 million I would start with signing Justin Turner to a 2/$28 million contract, with him earning $11 million this season, $14 million in 2022, and a $3 million buyout, keeping the payroll down for this season. Next I would sign Asdrubal Cabrera for 1st base at 1/$4 million. Then I would let Vogelbach walk to clear the money. Current payroll of $79.35 million + $15 million -$1.4 million = $92.95 million. I would rely on Burnes and Woodruff continuing on their success from 2020 with Lauer bouncing back to his 2018-2019 form and being a solid mid rotation arm. If Houser can just be “fine”, we would be okay. I imagine we could see some of File, Bettinger, Rasmussen as rotation options in 2021 as well and that they will be rotated through to find who has the most initial success and stick with them. I think $93 million might be a little high for a payroll and if it is, a Hader trade could be in order. Maybe we could move Garcia with Hader and force a team like the Mets to take on that money and have the room to bring in a different option in the outfield at a much cheaper rate.
  4. Justin Turner just makes way too much sense for us and he would certainly be a guy that Attanasio would meet with to sell him on coming to Milwaukee.
  5. I mentioned in a pre draft thread to trade up and take Justin Jefferson. That certainly would have been a huge addition to the offense. Pair him with Adams, Jones, and Tonyan and we would be looking at an even more elite offense. I still wish they would have taken a different wide receiver most notably Higgins (at the time), but Pittman or Claypool would have been nice too.
  6. So every team passed on claiming him at $10 million and then he signs for above that??
  7. Horrible defensive scheme to end the first half, allowing 7 points, dropped 2 point conversion, atrocious holding call with under 2 minutes left when none were called all game, Adams completely open for a touchdown on the free play and wasn’t looked at, no call on Jones’ face mask being held on I believe a second down run that ended up in us punting instead of getting an automatic first down, Adams dropping a touchdown pass, am I missing something? Many missed opportunities, numerous horrible officiating calls or lack there of. We had every opportunity to win this game and left it up to the officials to decide the outcome. I feel slightly cheated, but to be honest it shouldn’t have been that close anyway. We should of won by 10 points. Edit to add Lazard not looking for the ball down near the goal line when it was thrown to him was another big mistake. Second edit to add that Lazard was held on the pass where Rodgers was picked off. Maybe I need to blame the refs a little more
  8. Should be a 6 point game with a real shot to win it.
  9. Just said this exact thing. Pretty easy to pop off the ball when you snap it at 1 or 0 75% of the time.
  10. King got beat again deep but the guy dropped it. It’s always King every single time.
  11. I believe that’s correct. 4 for the Packers, 1 for the Brewers, and 1 for the Bucks as it stands.
  12. We seem to have this discussion every year, but the playing time will sort itself out anyway. Cain will need 15+ maintenance days, Garcia and Yelich will need a few games off, injuries arise. Yelich, Cain, and Ozuna will all have 500+ at bats if healthy. Garcia or Ozuna could play a few games at first to keep their bat in the lineup.
  13. I am looking forward to the day I don’t ever need to see King in a Packers uniform again. He is so bad for this defense, I see no way they couldn’t find someone better.
  14. The Blue Jays always seem interested in acquiring pitching, what about spinning a deal with them? Looks like they might be starting to go for it with the signing of Springer. The Jays can then go out and sign another bat to replace what they trade away. Blue Jays Receive: RHP Corbin Burnes Brewers Receive: 2B/3B Cavan Biggio 1B Rowdy Tellez RHP Simeon Woods Richardson The Brewers get long term solutions at first and third or second with the option of trading Hiura or moving him to a new position. They also get a high upside arm that’s in the top 100 that could probably start in AA and might see MLB time by year’s end in 2021. 3B Biggio (L) CF Cain ® LF Yelich (L) 2B Hiura ® 1B Tellez (L) RF Garcia ® C Narvaez (L) SS Arcia/Urias ® P That could be a pretty dang good lineup. The rotation would certainly need some help though. Edit to add I certainly wouldn’t be opposed to taking a step back this season if we are having a lower payroll anyway. Get some young guys on the team, let guys like Woods Richardson, Kelly, Small, File, and Bettinger develop and get a shot in the bigs, and go for it again in 2022.
  15. I posted this in another thread, but figured it might be good to add it in here for discussion purposes. After the Pablo Reyes signing, how about a Hiura for Jose Ramirez swap? You have Arcia, Urias, and Reyes battling it out up the middle, hoping that Arcia can replicate his 2020 and one of Urias and Reyes can take a step forward. Ramirez slides in at 3B and is on an extremely team friendly deal. Sign a solid bat for 1B like Asdrubal Cabrera and call it an offseason. CF Cain 1B Cabrera LF Yelich 3B Ramirez C Narvaez RF Garcia SS Arcia 2B Urias/Reyes P
  16. I actually think this is a solid signing. He just turned 27 and is theoretically entering his prime and has 5 years of control so through his age 31 season. He has all of 200 MLB at bats and wasn’t exactly overmatched. He has a little pop in his bat and will take his walks. It might seem like a depth signing, but I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s given an opportunity in 2021 to be a bench guy similar to Perez. 17. I don’t think extending Woodruff is something that we will look at doing at this point. We control him through his age 31 season already. If we do look to extend him, I think buying out 2 years of free agency would be about the most I would do for him. Something like: $5 $7 $10 $12 $15 $15 Comes out to 6/$64 million. He locks up life changing money right now regardless of injury and performance instead of going through the arby process multiple times and having a down season that will impact how much he gets later in the arby process. Remember he is 4 years from free agency and doesn’t have a ton of leverage in that regard. Him hitting free agency at 32 also isn’t extremely appealing to organizations unless you are a cream of the crop type guy, which he may be. But is it worth the risk to him? A guaranteed $64 million is a lot to walk away from. Of course he is also a candidate to be moved with 2 years of control left to restock the farm. If he pitches like he did in 2020 the next two seasons, he will arguably be the most coveted arm on the trade block.
  18. This is HUGE for the Bucks. Hopefully this will entice others to play for Milwaukee knowing that Giannis is here to stay long term. I am absolutely pumped by this news!! Now to lock up Holiday on a 4 or 5 year deal, buy some second round picks the next few years hoping to find some positive contributors off the bench, and bring a Championship back to Milwaukee!
  19. One of the most mind numbing managerial moves I’ve seen. The man can’t make the roster all season, but is your cleanup hitter in a win or go home game in the postseason. In all seriousness, I’m not sure how we are going to replace our cleanup hitter moving forward. It’s a shame he got away from us. We can’t let players like this reach free agency. The Wall of Honor ceremony will be bittersweet for sure, but man it would of been nice to have him finish out his career in Milwaukee. It’s just so dang hard to replace a cleanup hitter, especially one in his prime. Fire Stearns! Cheap Mark A strikes again! Pour it on them baby!
  20. Might be a little risky, but I wonder if we could look to give him a multi year deal. He will be turning 27 at the beginning of the 2021 season and locking him up through his age 29 or 30 season wouldn’t be a bad idea. Not exactly sure what he could be looking at in free agency and he would probably be too risky of a target for us, but would 3/$21 million be enough? Garcia’s contract is coming off the books after this season and I think that if we are serious about making a run for a World Series with Yelich in his prime, a cheap Hiura, and a cheap yet dominant bullpen, we might need to take a risk on a guy or two like Dahl. Pair him with La Stella and call it an offseason. I imagine we could bring those two in and still fill out the roster while coming in around the $90 million mark which should be a pretty realistic number for us to have this season.
  21. One significant thing to keep in mind is that Yelich gets his $12 million raise starting next season so that could play a big part in the offseason decisions. Basically Garcia and Yelich’s salary this season will be equivalent to what Yelich will be making for the foreseeable future beginning in 2022.
  22. I do the player list more to show where the payroll is at currently for people that are interested in it and want to keep it in mind when providing their new ideas of what they want the offseason to look like. It’s certainly not exact, but it’s close.
