  1. I guess Mahommes ain't it either. Love outplayed him. See, I can make terrible assumptions as well! And if you judge Rodgers based on the Saints game this year, he ain't it either. Hell, Love outplayed Rodgers that game... Exactly. My post was simply to answer a poster who was using Love's mediocre performance to confirm a strong negative bias against Jordan Love and pat himself on the back in the process.
  2. You do realize that Manny Pina is 34 years old, correct?

  4. Unlike Rodgers, the reporters actually asked him about that- he said he thought it was the responsible thing to do considering his exposure to the other two QBs who were positive. Also he has confirmed that he is, in fact, vaccinated
  5. Yeah and he believes taking a animal de-wormer will prevent a viral respiratory infection. That tells you all he knows about immunology. He should just keep his mouth shut about science he has absolutely no knowledge about. That would be like me lecturing Jeff Bezos how to create enormous wealth. Ivermectin is used in De-worming applications - primarily in equines. AND, you know what else you find in animal wellness sections: Aspirin. True. Actually, animal aspirin is not only pure salicylic acid but it is additive and filler free as well. Both of these medicines are used for a wealth of different applications. There is a reason why Ivermectin has been a celebrated drug (as aspirin) for quite some time and there are reasons both are readily available. This is an important distinction. The bottom is falling out of the "Ivermectin is a miracle cure for COVID" myth: https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/962222?uac=66555DT&faf=1&sso=true&impID=3774109&src=WNL_trdalrt_pos1_211106 Perhaps people shouldn't be taking medical advice from a misogynist reality TV host with podcast?
  6. People in the public eye such as Aaron Rodgers are held to a different standard than us normal noobs. But he's also paid $30 million a year as a result. Fair or not, he's been in the NFL long enough that he knows that this sort of reaction comes with the territory.
  7. The Reds continue to be a dumpster fire franchise.
  8. Agreed. I don't believe he'd accept it, either. Unless for some reason he over inflates his own market potential. There is quite the glut of corner OF power bats set to hit the market, so it is possible he might take the easy payday, rather than sit around on the market, where the chance remains that he may only get offers similar to the contract he just played under.
  9. I thought he was actually doing pretty decent until he dropped that bomb.
  10. Why would the A's want Tellez if they are rebuilding? The A's could just bring up some AAAA type at a cheaper price than having Tellez included in the trade. Just doesn't make any sense why they would want Tellez or even Vogelbach included in a deal for Olson. Kinda the way I'm seeing it. Does a rebuild need to be a sub 65win season? Tellez is also capable of providing value to maybe return something in a trade while being a 1st base placeholder. I dunno the As roster/minors. Maybe they have a cheap 1b to replace Olson. When a franchise consistently puts team payrolls below where Milw puts it I'd think Tellez may fit. (Though I didn't realize Tellez is 1st year Arb) So dug in a little. Olson is projected at 12mil. Beyond him 1b is twice waived(KC&Cubs last year) Frank Scwindel. Oakland doesnt have a 1b in their top 30 projected to the majors until 2024. They most definitely need a 1b. You will have some oldies to sign like they did with Mitch Moreland last season. Tellez is entering that age 27 season. Maybe that includes a little more progress. For under 2mil that may be more worth a try than 2-ish mil to Moreland or Asdrubal Cabrera at 1st base. Im not suggesting Tellez as the headliner. Just being included in this trade to save a prospect loss. Frank Schwindel is definitely still a Cub.
  11. I think he had a pretty good season, and if he wants to cash in on it now, this is the time. If he were to be injured next year, or have a down year, it would obviously effect his next contract. I think for him personally, he made the right decision. The decision isn't quite over yet. He turned down the $12 million option, which was a given. The Brewers need to decide whether to now extend a $18.4 million one-year qualifying offer. If he accepts that (should it be offered), he is essentially on a one-year deal, and will hit free agency again next year.
  12. Why not? He'll be a 30-year-old who is playing for a potential big, long-term contract. The guy came to camp in better shape than he ever has this year, and ended up having a very good season both offensively and defensively likely because of that. That same motivation will be there as he plays under what is essentially a 1-year deal in 2022. He was playing a for a big contract this year. If he can’t get a big contract this offseason…why would he be dreaming of one next offseason? I’d much rather have Castellanos…but I don’t think we can afford him. Honestly, not sure we can afford Garcia at a QO price. Like I said earlier, he's probably looking at $14-$15+ million a year on a 4-year deal. I would say 4 years and $60 million guaranteed is a big contract. He needs to weigh whether its worth entering the open market hoping he'll get that, or whether its prudent to take $18.4 million from the Brewers for one year, then try again next year.
  13. So you are going to severely downgrade the team's starting pitching talent for an offensive improvement. That seems like it would be cutting off the head despite the face. Hardly "easy peasey". Unless you think that Ashby and/or Lauer can step in and replicate Freddy's production. They have Ashby/Lauer...I didn't think Freddy was THAT great anyway. Particularly after he came back from his injury. I mean hell yeah, I'll take Olson, if they will take emptying the farm, I'd rather do that if I don't have to touch the MLB team. My whole point is, fixing this lineup should NOT be that hard, I just showed you two ways it can be done. there are others that don't involve trading anyone. But people here are already having wincing over the idea that I wanted to increase the payroll by 20 mill for a season or two I can't imagine the horror if I were to suggest raising it even more(and sign another guy). Apparently one person's "imagining the horror" is another's "living in reality". I get what you are trying to do. You are getting your expectations raised up high, only to set yourself up for ranting if your likely unrealistic expectations aren't fulfilled. I feel like we've been here before.

  16. The ceiling is way higher for Castellanos and his track record is honestly in a different universe. Castellenos has posted an .800+ OPS 5/6 of his past 6 years. The shortened 2020 was his only year he has not...and was just barely under .800. Garcia on the other hand has two .800+ OPS seasons in his entire career, which were separated by three years. I agree with you that Castellanos has the likely higher ceiling. It's a manner of the ends justifying the means. Is he THAT much of an improvement over Avi to justify the huge guaranteed money jump? If Avi takes the qualifying offer, they have a motivated player for next year at $18.4 million, and that's it. Then they can examine the market next offseason once again, or perhaps a player like Weimer, Mitchell or Frelick will be ready by 2023?
  17. This is a logical argument that I can get behind. In fact, I think something like this should probably be expected. We aren't going to see a full-on "throw caution to the wind" type offseason, but I fully expect 2-3 moves that could be construed as "big" that will likely raise the payroll. I don't even know what "This is so easy it's not even funny" even means, though. Baseball economics are far from easy. Yeah, I definitely agree with the "so easy it's not even funny" being totally untrue. We don't know where Castellanos wants to play, we don't know how many years he might get, we have no way of knowing if 3/66 gets it done. That said, if it was enough, I'd have no problem making that deal (obviously isn't my coin). But if we can afford a nearly 20M QO on Avi which we're considering, we can afford 22M for 3 years on Nick. There is a significant difference between a one-year, $18.4 million guaranteed deal, and $66 million guaranteed over 3 years. And I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that Castellanos is looking for 4+ years.
  18. Agreed, that seems like a really bad allocation of resources even for one year. You better have it on awfully good authority that he's going to decline if you're going to make him a QO. Castellanos is likely looking at $20+ million per year for at least 4 years. Is he that much of a better bet to live up to that sort of deal than Avi would on a 1-year qualifying offer?
  19. He's probably looking at $14-$15+ million a year on a 4-year deal. It's certainly not "out of our minds" to pay him $18.4 million for one year.
  20. This is a perfect way of looking at it I think. Bradley has notoriously been a slow starter in his career. He better find a way to fix that next spring, or he's gonna be out of a job.
  21. Yeah you're right....although OBJ probably can still heavily influence where he goes by telling teams where he simply won't play the rest of this season. My guess is he winds up a Raider or Saint I doubt he's going to want to go to the Saints with their trainwreck situation at QB. Raiders are a solid thought. Chiefs wouldn't surprise me either. That team has been perpetually looking for a guy opposite Hill.
  22. When the Packers signed Rison, both Brooks and Freeman had gone down, and their defacto #1 WR was Don Beebe. It was at the point where KR/PR Desmond Howard and TE Keith Jackson were seeing substantial snaps at WR. I don't think there is any chance that the Packers even consider OBJ. I'd be floored if they do.
  24. Maji and Tomzcak are 2/3. Dilweg isn’t a bad guess, but he was 2 years prior to Favre. The third guy started a single game in both 1990 and 1991, but managed over 130 passing attempts in his three years. I thought maybe someone would get it because he spent three years as a Packer and started games in different years…but it is a pretty random guy in the grand scheme. The guy is: Blair Kiel. First answer to your question had Blair Kiel: LINK Maybe Plush has me blocked? Who knows? I distinctly remember being so excited for the Majkowski era during that electric 1989 season. Then he kept getting hurt. Once he hurt his shoulder and had to had rotator cuff surgery, he was more or less done. He didn't have zip on his throws anymore. His backups were more-or-less terrible, too. Tomczak could at least dink and dunk his way down the field, and he was smart, but guys like Dilweg and Kiel were pretty bad all around.
  25. This is so easy it's not even funny...for a year the Brewers can boost the payroll..give Castellanos 3yrs 60 mill(I go 66 mill if I need to to get it done). Next year Cain comes off the books...that's 17 mill of that amount right there. So essentially they raise payroll by 5 million. Sportrac has them at 105 million for next year, if they can't raise it another 20-22 million for ONE year(essentially) then they might as well just start trading guys and punt. Yeah, what's $22 million? A drop in the bucket!
