  1. The Mets are 2-8 in their last 10. They look like the team gearing up for a playoff run so far, though.
  2. [sarcasm]Good thing these are meaningless games.[/sarcasm] If the Brewers play like they should, they are.
  3. Yeah, trying to root for the Cubs is painful. Welp ... 4-0 now. Brewers gonna have to take care of their own business this weekend.
  4. Happ loads the bases with 1 down, and looks to be pretty much done. Proceeds to mow down the next two guys to get out of it. Because of course he does. The sooner the Brewers can end this once and for all, the better. I'm sick of the Cardinals, and having to root for the Cubs is insult to injury.
  5. Fixed. Please refrain from mucking up the "2021 Brewers Optimism Thread in the future. Pretty much every other thread this week has the exact verbiage you are looking for.
  6. You literally said "He is what he is in 2021 and any intellegent manager with deal with him in that way." How in the heck else is that to be interpreted? LOL That was in response to your comment”…..the threat of his bat needs to be at the forefront of the opposition’s mind.” What I was attempting to say is that the oppositions’s manager doesn’t look at the 2021 Yelich as the 2018-2019 version, and his “fear of Yelich” will not be the same as the past and most intelligent opposition managers will treat him that way.To hope that he will return to that MVP type player this year has a miniscule chance of happening in the next 5-6 weeks and hoping that he will is foolish. Now that I re-read, I understand what you're saying. Sorry, my bad. I don't think there is much of any chance he suddenly turns into MVP Yelich, but if he can be a guy who gets on base at a .400 clip and maybe runs into a few once the playoffs start, that is useful. Not "needs to be batting #3 in the lineup every day" useful, but not really that much a detriment to the lineup either. It is what it is I guess.

  8. In any legitimate league Hubbard absolutely should have been/should be locked until after Monday nights game. This is the response I got from Yahoo: Continuous waivers do not function in the same manner as the other weekly waivers where players lock into waivers until the following Wednesday. If you have waiver processing dates set up to run Wednesday-Friday, players will be available to be added through waivers on Friday even if they have already played in that Thursday game. Managers won't be able to put them into their lineups since they already played but there is no option to have them available in the next week's waivers. They will be available the next processing day for the league. That seems like it would be a simple fix. No other fantasy provider allows that type of move to happen. Yahoo is pretty terrible, though.
  9. The McCaffrey owner in one of my Yahoo leagues put in a claim on Hubbard following last night's game, and for some reason it was already processed and he has Hubbard on his roster as of this morning! The league doesn't have free agency, and runs waivers daily Wednesday-Monday. But shouldn't it make logical sense that a player who played Thursday wouldn't then be available until the next's week's waiver period starts the following Wednesday? I mean, I would have thrown in a claim on Hubbard, and I currently have the #3 priority. The player who grabbed him had #10 priority. Is it just tough luck for not knowing the glitch, or do I have a beef here?
  10. Yep. Scherzer is going to win it. Going away. He could give up 12 runs in his last start and still win it. Because both "OMG Dodgerrsssss" and his track record. If Burnes had counting stats that were sizably better than Scherzer, then we'd have an argument. But they are pretty much neck-and-neck on every category.
  11. The Mets have been circling the drain, going 2-8 in their last 10 games to all but eliminate them from postseason contention. The Brewers have a prime opportunity here for a "get right" series.
  12. C'mon man... Yelich has had 2 season's to "get going", and has yet to do so. The guy has 8 homers this season, let that sink in... He won't "get going" if he is sitting, and he hasn't "got going" with all the playing time in the world. Dude is a shell of his former self, and if he hasn't flipped the switch yet after two seasons, now is not the time to think he will. His bat is no longer a threat, at least not this year. The competition no longer see him as 2018-2019 Yelich, he is just a guy, and has done nothing the past two seasons to prove otherwise. Sometimes CC's tunnel vision is ridiculous. Yelich needs to get it going. I'm not saying I necessarily agree with continuing to play him every day and bat him 3rd. I think I'd mix it up, and give him more days off. But I don't think it's going to happen. That's not Counsell's MO. And despite his tunnel vision, the guy has certainly earned the benefit of the doubt in my mind.
  13. So what I hear you saying is that there is very little chance that playoff success is going to happen in 2021. This is so “Craig Counsell”. After 2 seasons of failure you still have faith in a player that has shown little success. Remember a previous playoff game where Counsell brought in Jeffress in the 8th when he was going through a terrible stretch and then Hader in the 9th after he had given up several game winning home runs? How did that eventually work out. Counsell sticks with his horses through thick or thin despite recent history. That is a commendable virtue, however, not so much from a baseball manager. Statistically speaking, Yelich will continue to slump (or continue to be who he currently is) and will continue to bat in the same spot that Counsell has placed him all year. I don’t think at this point the opposition really cares what Yelich did in 2018 and 2019. He is what he is in 2021 and any intellegent manager with deal with him in that way. If you don’t considered history you are doomed to repeat it. Wishful thing isn’t going to get it done. Craig Counsell has proven over the years to be one of the smartest, most astute managers in the game, and the Brewers have had a run of success that is unprecedented in this team's history. There are arguments that you can logically make here, but "Craig Counsell is dumb" ain't one of them. Yes, odds are Yelich isn't going to suddenly become the 2018 version. But he isn't having a JBJ season, either. I predict he'll continue to see regular time out there, although hopefully if Taylor is heating up, he can work his way into a timeshare with both Garcia and Yelich.
  14. Yeah and maybe Santa Claus will come down your chimminy on Monday. Grow up. Every team goes through tough stretches. The Brewers are a good baseball team, whether you want to admit it or not. And the Mets are 2-8 in their last 10 games. The Brewers are actually better at 3-7. God forbid someone actually have a little bit of optimism! Good lord people, it's like some of you are waiting around for the team to play a few bad games of baseball to pull out the "told you so's" and the "see, they are what they always are's". Give me a break. It isn't a good look.
  15. This is a tough one. I think in the best interest of this team's playoff success, Yelich needs to get going. That isn't going to happen if he's sitting in favor of Tyrone Taylor. Yelich needs to be a threat for this team to be a World Series contender. The threat of his bat needs to be on the forefront of the opposition's mind. I think he'll continue to play regularly, and the team will hope beyond hope that he finds a way to be productive with the bat. Is that the best decision? I'm not sure. But I think that's what's going to happen.
  16. Sweep the Mets this weekend, and those games against the Cardinals next week don't matter in the least, regardless of what the Cardinals do against the Cubs.
  17. #FreezingColdTake alert LOL Right now, I'm totally ok with Garcia having the day off, ceding his spot to Taylor It would have been possible to have both Garcia and Taylor in the lineup. Can you think of any corner outfielders who have been less productive than Garcia recently? That guy isn't fighting several nagging injuries. Also, the only way he's got a chance of getting it going is getting ABs right now. But my post was meant as a lighthearted jab at the "doom and gloom" stuff
  18. Whew! Big pitch there. Will be interesting to see if they let Houser bat now. Fought a little wildness that inning.
  19. #FreezingColdTake alert LOL Right now, I'm totally ok with Garcia having the day off, ceding his spot to Taylor
  20. I agree with this premise. Going 6 deep with quality starter types is a huge luxury. Lauer certainly hasn't done anything to show that he doesn't deserve a postseason start, either. Between Houser and Lauer, I would think Houser would be the better one out of the pen, too. Plus having two multi-inning lefties in Ashby and Lauer in the pen, not to mention Suter, may be a little redundant.
  21. It wasn’t like that before, then it was. Then there was a repeat of a line and now it sounds like it’s a split second behind. They must try to reset the synching every so often. They must reset it every commercial break, because I notice they always cut to the YourTube commercials, and sometimes the radio broadcast comes back from break at a different point than the TV broadcast.
