  1. I think you are probably kidding a bit, but I like Tellez at 1B defensively, and thinks he's a more complete hitter than Vogelbach. Not a world beater, but not a bad guy to have around either. By the way, welcome back
  2. Just under 50 pitches for Old Man Wainwright through two innings. Brewers putting some good ABs together so far. Different vibe today starting with the first AB.
  3. As a snapshot it would look great. But you can’t separate the snapshot from the circumstances leading up to it. I can understand that some people can look at this and say it is over, so no reason to be concerned about anything. But I don’t understand why those people are bothered so much that others look at it differently. I watch sports the same way I played them. I played hard until the game was over. Letting up with a big lead and then trying to rev up again when things got closer never seemed like a good idea. Because the viewpoint in this case is 100% illogical. You continue to suggest that an outcome that has never come close to happening in the long history of Major League Baseball has a legit shot of happening here. I know you are not into trends, probabilities and analytics, and are more a "go with your gut" type, but you really can't ignore the numbers when they are so, so close to certainty. That said, I totally agree with the frustration. But the fear is unfounded.
  4. 8.5 game lead 10 games left I'm equally amazed by how many people are seemingly freaked out by the idea of this team potentially not winning the Central.
  5. The Brewers are 99.9% locked in to their playoff position. The Cardinals are not. Not that these games shouldn't mean a lot to the Brewers, but they mean infinitely more to the Cardinals.
  6. Taylor in place of Garcia, and Pina starting for Narvaez. Otherwise all the regulars. Taylor needs reps, and Pina is hitting much better than Narvaez of late. How is that a getaway lineup? No JBJ, Jace or Reyes to be seen. Mostly just a jab at Yelich batting 3rd again. Maybe should have gone blue I get it, but at some point you just gotta play the hand you're dealt and hope for a little luck. At this point expecting Yelich to snap out of his season-long funk may very well be a fruitless endeavor, but if he does find a way to heat up, it makes this team all that much scarier come playoff time. And Yelich is still getting on base at a solid clip, which tells me that opposing teams are still accounting for him in the Brewers' lineup.

  8. With the last YouTube game, if you didn't want their announcers, you could also pick the home or away radio broadcast, which was synched up with the video. Pretty sure that is an option with all YouTube games. You guys should give it a try. Worked great last time.
  9. I do get the frustration. I really do. But there is about 7 or 8 worst-case scenarios you have wrapped up in here that you are kinda making sound like an actual, legit possibility.
  10. Win tomorrow. I know, tough matchup with Wainright chugging straight from the Fountain of Youth this year, but Houser is no slouch when he's on either. Then take game one against the Mets Friday with Burnes on the bump. Done.
  11. I don’t know, but I’m 100% sure there would’ve been a narrative about them celebrating too early if a big celebration had preceded the losing streak. I mean, honestly my comment could have/should have been in blue, but there was a lot of chatter like "we've been here before" etc, etc. lol, we had the LDS/LCS in 18, a one game elimination in 19, and *whatever* last year was. If all that has people spoiled already, I don't know what to say. I know there's a bigger goal in mind, but take pride in the achievements along the way. They have certainly played like they have it in cruise control after "clinching" that playoff spot. If there is a switch to flip, it would be nice if they flipped it soon.
  12. It was never not pointless. We already had a perfectly fine magic number thread.
  13. Nope. If the Brewers get swept by the Mets this weekend, and the Cardinals sweep the Cubs, I'll be mildly concerned come next Monday. But that's it.
  14. LOL give me a break. Sheesh
  15. It is rare, but the Royals and Giants (twice) have won championships without a superstar stud in the lineup in the last decade.
  16. I'm guessing it wouldn't look a heck of a lot different than what we're seeing now.
  17. I mean, they can't score against junk pitchers. We may see a lot of 2-1-type games come playoff time if this doesn't improve. Better hope that the 3 aces and top pen guys are ready to bring it.
  18. That's my point. The 2019 Brewers were a very mediocre team that got scorching hot in September. Then they lost the Wild Card game. My guess is the Cardinals are looking at a similar fate.
  19. If I played for a mediocre team and was destroying one of the top teams in the majors I'd be happy too. They're going to be a playoff team. There's little doubt now. I don't really think they're mediocre and if they get Flaherty back and have him to pair with Wainwright I'd definitely take them seriously myself. Sorry ... I should have said mediocre up to two weeks ago. Because that's exactly what they are. They are getting hot at the right time, but this Cardinal team gives me huge 2019 Brewer vibes.
  20. If I played for a mediocre team and was destroying one of the top teams in the majors I'd be happy too.
  21. Just got here. Something tells me I should avoid going back to read the whole thread. Just a hunch ...
