  1. What exactly are you trying to say here? That the Yelich trade and the Cain signing weren't quality moves? Because I would beg to differ.
  2. So because he was DFA'd by the Mariners and the Blue Jays, that makes him useless? I'm not sure I'm following this one. The Mariners aren't exactly known for sound personnel decisions, and the Blue Jays took a flyer that didn't immediately pay off in 5 ABs, then needed the roster spot after acquiring Robbie Ray at the deadline last year. No one is going to judge you if you simply say you don't like the guy. There's been plenty of guys I haven't liked over the years. Some I was right on, but plenty I was wrong on too.
  3. This quote says it all to me: “I think Vogey is best suited as a hitter, and that means he’s probably best suited for the DH,” What more do you need to hear? The Brewers do not view him as a full time 1B, and rightfully so. Can he fill in there in a pinch, probably, but there is no way they go into 2021 with Vogelbomb as a full time 1B. Just not going to happen, and if it does, we are in trouble. I personally do not want to see Vogelbach be the full time 1B. I agree, if he ends up there, it isn't ideal. What do I need to hear? How about not what Stearns immediately said after that quote about needing to determine if he can play there if there is no DH? I just think that dismissing the idea that the Brewers may end up going that route is premature.
  4. If they felt comfortable, this statement wouldnt be made. Most teams, including this one, make defensive moves they don't necessarily feel comfortable with. We're talking about the same team that moved a lumbering 3B in Moustakas to 2B in order to inject an extra potent bat into the lineup. They gave two starting years to Domingo Santana, despite him quite possibly being the worst defensive corner OFer in baseball. Giving a guy like Vogelbach meaningful time at 1B, if they truly believe in his bat, isn't an idea that is completely far fetched, especially for this team.
  5. You may not feel that it is preferable, but he very much CAN be the 2021 1B ... if the Brewers feel comfortable enough with him there. They dont........ From Stearns himself...... “I think Vogey is best suited as a hitter, and that means he’s probably best suited for the DH,” Stearns said. “If there is no DH in the National League -- right now we don’t have one -- then we would have to make a determination as to how comfortable we would be devoting meaningful time to him at first base.” You say "they don't", then follow it with a direct quote from Stearns saying that they have to make a determination on him. That really isn't "they don't". I get that having the guy at 1B isn't an ideal situation, but don't make it sound like the Brewers definitely don't see him as an option there just because you may not like the guy.

  7. Still quite a few of the top guys out there: 1. SP Trevor Bauer - Gonna be WAY too expensive, but could you imagine throwing Bauer in a rotation with Woodruff and Burnes? 2. C J.T. Realmuto - Doesn't make a ton of sense, both financially and roster construction-wise, unless they are giving up on Narvaez. 3. OF/DH Marcell Ozuna - Brewers have been linked to him, so this is a possibility. 4. SS/INF Didi Gregorius - I think this is actually a pretty good bet for the type of FA Attansaio would be recruiting. He's be a major get, and would likely be the team's full time 3B. 5. 3B Justin Turner - Obvious position need, and if he were willing to signing a short-term deal, this one makes sense. I don't trust signing a 36-year-old whatsoever, though. 6. SS/INF Marcus Semien - This would make sense too from a positional need standpoint. Other teams have supposedly been talking to Semien about playing 3B. 7. SS Andrelton Simmons - He's the best defensive SS in baseball, so this only makes sense if they are going to move on from Arcia. 8. OF/1B Joc Pederson - Also a potential target that makes some sense. Good power and a LH bat. 9. SP Jake Odorizzi - Solid #3 starter. Shouldn't be super expensive. 10. 3B Tommy La Stella - Solid player, would fill an obvious hole. Obviously there is much more on the market, but these are 10 guys off the bat who I could see Mark A. getting involved in their recruitment.
  8. I guess I'd take King back on a 1/$3m deal to be the nickel corner, but I don't think he's a legit #2/boundary guy (but someone may stupidly pay him like one). Considering the fact that he's good to miss 2-5 games a year with injuries and their limited off season resources, the correct call is likely to let him go. As for Jackson, obviously it's a huge off season for him. New DC, potentially new DC opinions, and a clear opportunity to step up into the hole likely vacated by King. If he can't play his way into at least the Sullivan/3rd CB role, he's likely a camp casualty, IMO. I'm fully prepared for King to sign a cheap deal someplace like Pittsburgh, Seattle, or New England, then proceed to play like a stud next year, ala Casey Hayward. He has every physical tool you'd want in a corner, but for whatever reason, hasn't been able to put together the consistency needed at the position. He's probably a guy who at this point needs a change of scenery. Also, be prepared for the Packers to target CB early in the 2021 draft.
  9. I don't want Rodgers to leave. He's playing at a better clip now than he has his entire career, which is saying something. But if it happens, I agree that I'd like to see him go somewhere else and shine, because I really like the guy. I also want Jordan Love to succeed because it would be good for the team, and I'm a Packer fan first and foremost. I'm not going to get any sort of fulfillment out an "I told ya so" moment if Love isn't good. I would imagine most true Packer fans would agree.
  10. Agreed ... I would think that Attanasio wouldn't be brought in to recruit unless something was getting close. I also would think that he wouldn't be brought in unless the target was at least a relatively big name. Perhaps that is me grasping at straws at this point, but I still have some hope that they are working on something that isn't the "bargain bin" type move many complain about around here.
  11. Same ... this is the matchup that I hated the most. Storyline is gonna be heroic Brady against the big, bad Chiefs. Gross.
  12. Couldn’t have been more wrong. Zero activity. Wow, rather shocked following arbitration settlements being completed we haven’t seen any action. The guys report in less than a month. Yeah, it is getting pretty annoying now. I keep wholeheartedly carrying the water for this team and its front office, but I have to admit, the faith is beginning to wain. Not that big moves aren't still there to be had. Yesterday was the 3-year anniversary Yeli-Mas. I've never been more excited to be a Brewer fan than I was that night. It's time for Stearns and Arnold to man up and create some excitement for this team again.
  13. Right on. One piece of normalcy (well somewhat at least) amongst the weirdness of the pandemic has been very welcome.
  14. Smith was a 4th round pick. The rest of these guys were international free agent signings. This is a credit to scouting, and proof that the Brewers need to continue to build their international academies and Latin America scouting. You hit on these guys, and they either turn into quality major leaguers, or are used as currency in team building.
  15. It's too bad that the only teams dumping good players seem to be NL Central teams. I take that back ... good that these players are out of the NL Central, bad that the Brewers never seem to be players for them.
  16. The actual recent numbers seem to indicate otherwise ... that Garcia is actually very good, and Ozuna is quite bad. Remember that he played the majority of 2020 in CF for the Brewers, but was signed to play RF, where his smaller range and big arm would play much better. I agree with the above poster that would tune into Braves and Cardinals games the last couple years just to see Ozuna play the OF. He's that bad. It isn't that he doesn't have the athleticism, either. Yeah, he's had some injuries that have hindered him out there, but his instincts are poor too. He isn't Domingo Santana bad, but that is a pretty low bar to limbo under.
  17. I certainly agree that turnovers will be one of the most important factors in this game. This game would be against the Saints today had the Buccaneers not won the turnover battle (4-to-0) in their last game. I also think if neither team turns the ball over that favors the Packers to win this game. Beyond turnovers it seems like the Packers ability to get pressure on Tom Brady as well as the Packers offense’s ability to establish enough of a run to keep the Buccaneers from staying in favorable passing coverages all day should be two other huge factors. For a score prediction today, I’ll say Packers 28, Buccaneers 23. I’ll predict both Lazard and Tonyan end up with scores. Those will be the two biggest factors IMO. The Packers losing Keke while the Buccs get Vea back hurts us. Most of the pressure I would expect would come up the middle. Hopefully, Za'Darius can get some things done on that front and Clark can beat up their interior OL. Losing Bahk is an enormous blow obviously, but Turner might be the better run blocker there. I'd imagine we'd see a bit less of a zone scheme today and go with a little more duo. Try and just beat them at the LOS. I like the score...something in that range, but I might go with the Under today. I think it's 51.5. I could see both defenses playing well and the wind limiting the passing game a bit. I think the wind should play in our favor. Rodgers might sail one wide like he did last week, but he's much more used to it and has a much bigger arm at this point than Brady does(or at any point really). Best case scenario, the Packers come out, they're able to jump out in front and their running game is effective. We cannot get behind by multiple scores early. Though I'll also be nervous if the Packers are up ~10 or so in the 4th quarter. I'm not a pessimist, but there's a lot about this Buccs team that worries me. And despite the fact that I'm not a fan, I'm going to root like hell for Mike Pettine to keep his job as DC(as you don't fire a DC who you went to or won the SB with). Still, since you made a very specific prediction, I'll make one and it'll be this; Tramon Williams, in his return to GB and the first player to ever play for two teams in the post-season, comes up with a big pick(maybe pick 6) that ends up potentially being the difference in the game! Alexander shuts Evans down, hopefully King is good to go and can play with Godwin(though it seems like they might be better off if those two swapped and Alexander didn't follow Evans around as King is bigger and more physical while Godwin is quicker and more of a precision route runner). I know you really like Keke, but he has been out so long that he really isn't a "loss" at this point. Hopefully Clark provides an inside rush, along with Lowry. I don't expect anything from the other guys (Lancaster, Harrison, Price) other than plugging up lanes and taking on blockers. Clark needs to play incredibly well today.
  18. Hope they trade him somewhere in the AFC. The thought of him on an NFC contender like the Saints, Rams, 49ers, Bucs (if Brady retires), or Washington is scary.
  19. While leaving an enormous hole in the pen. They'd also be selling low on Garcia, which very much is not Stearns's MO. I'm also not sure what Ozuna is going to give you that Garcia cannot. Garcia has been a solid major league player for a substantial enough amount of time for me to believe that the player we say in 2020 is not who he actually is. I think we need to get out of this concrete "what have you done for me lately" mentality. Garcia is, in theory, a similar bat to Ozuna, but with much, much better defense. It just happens that Ozuna had a much better year offensively last year, so the assumption is he's a much better player, when the reality of the situation, at least IMO, is that they are closer in talent level than the above thought leads one to believe. I want no part of Ozuna but Garcia has been a below average player most of his career. He has had two good seasons with the rest of his career being bad and I'm sure the Brewers would take nothing in return just to get rid of that contract. I think you are putting thoughts into the front office's head that simply aren't there. Reason and simple logic dictate that they wouldn't have signed Garcia to the deal they did if they were willing to dump him after 60 games played in the weirdest season in MLB history. This is exactly that "what have you done for me lately" mentality that fans always have, but that I'm extremely glad that the team's front office doesn't share.

  21. I would love to see a Packers/Bills matchup. That would be fun. Packers/Chiefs still good, but a little less fun. Anything other than that, and I don't care. Not gonna pay attention to the Tom Brady Slobber Bowl.
  22. That's odd. Mine is a stickler for the flu vaccine. If I haven't had it yet for my annual fall appointment, he orders one for me and I get it before I leave the clinic. Getting the common flu can be terrible when you're a Type 1. The one time I got it several years ago my BG counts were all over the place. If my doctor did that I'd drop them in a heartbeat. My last two Dr's I've had are amazing. Very hands off and just sit and listen and ask me what I'd like to do. Everyone before that was so controlling. I'd only go once a year and that was because I had to to get my prescriptions renewed. The Dr. I had before this one was the "7-minute appointment" type. That was fine, as I have been Type 1 for 26 years, so I know how to handle it. The new guy is fine, though, too. He seems to actually take an interest in how I'm doing, and makes suggestions. He isn't just a guy to sign a prescription, like the last guy was. I actually kinda like that he reminds me to get my flu shot. Late fall comes up quick, and I've forgotten in the past.

  24. Well that would be a bizarre use of our financial resources when we so desperately need some corner infielders! Wow, that would be a pretty big "Stearns zigs when you think he's gonna zag" move. I suppose Ozuna would serve as a direct replacement for Braun as a RH corner OFer/DH who offers good power. He's be really redundant with Garcia already on this roster, though, unless they are looking to move Garcia or Cain I suppose.
  25. Not a huge loss for them, IMO. Tyler Johnson and Scotty Miller are both quality receivers. I do expect Alexander to shadow Godwin almost exclusively now, though. A key matchup is going to be King on Evans. Doesn't Godwin play in the slot? I don't think Alexander moves over the slot very often does he? Watching them last week, Godwin did move into the slot in a few packages, but Brown was there much more frequently.
