  1. Turbo, this offense literally and figuratively sucks. At this point, what have they got to lose? It is obvious that Vogelbach is a platoon bat, and Braun must be too hurt to swing. Who are you gonna DH? A junk lefty bat like Peterson or Sogard? Kershaw owns lefty hitters. The only other righty hitter not in the lineup besides Braun is Freitas.
  2. Ron/Joey - you’ve always been one of my favorite posters on here. Curious as to why the Reds and the Braves (specifically their pitching prospects) grind your gears so much? Genuinely curious as you post on that frequently. For the record, I don’t disagree with your evaluation. They both are very over hyped. You hit the nail on the head ... both are very overhyped - the Reds more recently, and the Braves, for, well, ever. With the Reds, there was just so much "OMG the Reds are sooooo much better than the Brewers" after their spending spree last year. The thing is, the Reds were trash last year, and they were trash this year, right up until about 10 days before the end of the season. They went on a run, and took advantage of the other teams around them (the Cards, Brewers and Cubs) playing poorly or mediocre up till the end. The Reds were a train wreck of inconsistency for the majority of the year, probably even moreso than the the Brewers, which is saying something. Next spring, when they are projected among the leaders, probably after spending foolishly again, I'm going to again say "not so fast." In all honesty, I wanted Moose back, and was perturbed not only when they signed him, but signed him for so much. I've had an axe to grind with the Braves hype for awhile, simply because the prospect writers for years have slobbered all over their young pitching, yet they seem to hardly ever graduate any. Of course, the last two days of games to not help my argument there. Fried and Anderson were studly.
  3. Yup, all fun and games at first, now that things are settling, they'll end up not being as great of a value as most anticipated. I have stuck with cable all this time, and though it costs more, I have no complaints with service or channel offerings. The issue is that not everyone, mainly those who live in rural areas, has access to cable television (raises hand). And cable companies aren't going out of their way to provide access to rural areas, because the overhead doesn't justify the increase in infrastructure investments. So what I'm left with is satellite television or streaming services, and my options with satellite are basically AT&T TV (DirecTV) if I want FS Wisconsin.
  4. Whatever happens, the Brewers putting two runs across last night means they had a better postseason showing than the Reds. So much for the Reds making noise. Their hot last couple weeks ended up being fool's gold.
  5. 2,887 new cases today. Wisconsin is Ground Zero.
  6. Yup. I thought that with their starting pitching they could maybe be a dark horse to make it to the WS (three game series' being what they are and what not). Dumpster fire organizations typically don't stop being dumpster fire organizations in one season, though. They spent a ton of money in the offseason in an attempt to buy a World Series, and what did it get them? Now Bauer will be gone, and Castellanos will likely opt out. And they are stuck with Votto's bloated deal, and a declining Moose making a lot as well.
  7. I've been using Hulu Live TV all summer, and it is much improved over what they were putting out last year. Very few complaints this time around.
  8. If it means bringing Jarred Kelenic home, I'm down.
  9. But the postponement does line up Hendricks to start Game 1 of an NLDS series now ... methinks shenanigans are afoot. I hope the Marlins put up a 15-spot tomorrow.
  10. Sorry John, this is one of the worst hot takes in the nearly 20-year history of the message board. The hyperbole is running extra hot today it seems. Evidently a few posters are grouchy after staying up till 12:30 last night.
  11. He is likable fellow but he has no business being a key pitcher in the play offs. I actually felt bad for him more than angry. He just isn’t a good pitcher and shouldn’t be out there. I disagree with the idea that he's isn't a good pitcher. When used in the right way, he's extremely effective. I mean, the last two years of results don't lie. He isn't the .49 ERA pitcher that he showed last year, but in my opinion, saying he "just isn't a good pitcher" is extreme hyperbole.
  12. Leonard Floyd is a Ram now. They signed Robert Quinn to take his spot. Point is the same, though.
  13. I was wondering if Suter was freaked out being on the stage today. If you remember, he had some trouble in the Wild Card game last year, too. He got the first two outs, gave up a single, Moustakas made an error and then he got the next hitter out. So 1 inning, 1 hit. Not really trouble. 27 pitches, which for him is a lot for one inning. I am convinced that Counsell was planning for him to pitch the 5th and 6th inning in that game, then hand the ball to Pomeranz for the 7th and 8th before going to Hader in the 9th. Suter throwing all those pitches in one inning moved the pitchers up. The rest is a sad history. He was probably just a little too fired up today. It's too bad, because the rest of the pen was terrific.
  14. Well crap. That is a pitch Yelich pounds last year. 90 mph below the letters. At least the Brewers made the Dodgers earn it. Go get 'em tomorrow Woody!
  15. I don't know if arm talent is the issue. He's got really good stuff. He just really struggles at times with his command and, seemingly, his concentration. Hopefully those are things that he can get under control as he gets older and gets more experience.
  16. Bad Freddy is so bad. If he doesn't have it, it can get ugly in a hurry. Good Freddy is why he's gonna be around for awhile, though. He need Good Freddy to show up on a much more regular basis (obviously)
  17. The bloom is off the rose for him unfortunately. It's been off for awhile. He is what he is, more than likely ... a typical backup catcher who is going to hit around .200 and park one 450 feet once in a while.
