  1. That's even more rural than my "rural" LOL. The only way things are going to improve in this neck of the woods is if a politician up here champions broadband and cellular infrastructure improvements, which means companies would need to get federal money to improve the infrastructure. It's always going to be a sunken cost due to the lack of population density. As for the best cellular carrier up here, I've had the best luck with Verizon ... or at least carriers that use Verizon towers. AT&T has dead spots all over.
  2. It appeared as though Houser was using his breaking pitches a little more than normal last night. When he ran into trouble last year, it was typically when he was relying too much on his fastball, and was having trouble locating it. His location wasn't super last night, either, but his use of the breaking stuff made up for it. Still, it was a very positive start for the "Houser is a starter" truthers.
  3. Surprise, surprise. He's still a guy that can't go deep into games and doesn't know where the ball is going half the time. Hard, hard pass. Which is probably a good sign that he'd thrive on the Brewers. We had starters go through an order 3 times fewer than any team in history last year. Counsell doesn't like pitchers to pitch 3 times through...so if he can dominate the first 2 times and hand it to the pen...don't see much of a problem. Except that the cost to bring him in will likely not be worth what you'd get out of him in that case.
  4. In the 11th inning, yes. Announcers said there were 4 games over the weekend that went to extras and ended in the 10th.
  5. Heck of an effort from Phelps. He might really turn out to be a very underrated signing. Shades of the same reliever electricity that Drew Pomeranz had for the Brewers last year.
  6. Really wasted opportunity to hang a crooked number there. Kinda hate a 1-run lead with the runner on 2nd rule. Need another shutdown inning from the pen here.
  7. Didn’t he have a few key home runs right away then? That was 2017. He was flat out terrible in 2018.
  8. Sogard has officially done more this season than he did in all of his 2018 time with the Brewers.
  9. Liking the David Phelps signing so far. Every at bat against him looks like the batter is off balance.
  10. Would it be Narvaez since he was the last batter, and then you could pinch run for him? No, because Narvaez stayed in the game to catch, so no more catchers left.
  11. Thanks for the tip, turned it on in time to see him hit a guy to make it 8-6 Cubs bullpen has all the makings of a total dumpster fire.
  12. I would guess that the cell companies are less likely to expand coverage for the few it would help. Cost/benefit not really there for them honestly. Upgrading speed capacity in congested areas is big. The better option is probably going to fome from satellite internet and then connecting via wifi to that connection. Yeah that's what I figured. And in a way it makes sense. I always knew getting paid internet and wifi would be fine in and next to the actual residences, but a lot of being up there is being outside. And of course it's nice being nice to be "unplugged", but on the other hand it would be nice to check a brewer score for instance! I live right between Three Lakes and Eagle River, so I can attest to the poor internet options up here. They are, in fact, terrible. The absolute best internet I can get at my home is DSL with a 6 mbps max. There are better options though fiber optic cable if you live in town, but if you are more rural, good luck. I've been told that the rural areas here don't have the population density (enough homes per square mile) for any high speed internet service to add the infrastructure needed. It's simply a poor investment for them. There's a lot of hope up here that Starlink will be operational within the next year or so. This affects cellular coverage, as cell signal is used and abused up here in the summer by people coming on vacation from down south. We don't have the cellular infrastructure to handle the influx up here, but since it's only for 3 months, the companies never improve it, and the locals are left to suffer through it.
  13. It appears that Yelich and Hiura are the only studs offensively, and when they are scuffling, so will the offense. Was hoping for more from Narvaez and Garcia. I still think they will be solid.
  14. Well, when you take the Aaron Rodgers-esque "I'm not playing in preseason" approach, you are gonna be hella rusty.
  15. Brault made 5 starts against the Brewers last season, and the Brewers won every one of those games. The only time they really slapped him around, though, was Sept 20, when they put up 6 runs on Brault in 5 1/3 innings. Otherwise he pitched pretty well against them.
  16. Yep. MLB had to know this was going to happen. That's why each team has a 60-player roster. Still ... it has to be discouraging that it's taken less than 4 days for their to be a big outbreak. Dang this is a nasty virus!
  17. Well ... this is typically what happens when your starter can only give you 3 innings. Stinker of a game. Guys like Peralta and Burnes have to have very short leashes this year.
  18. I've always been a big Zach Davies fan, but Eric Lauer is gonna make me forget Zach pretty quick if he keeps looking like that.
  19. It's not so much the studs, its what comes after. Exactly. Moustakas is by no means a superstar, but going from him to Gyorkgard at 3B is a substantial downgrade. The Brewers took the quantity over quality approach to this offseason, and while a few of these guys will get hot at points, the offense will likely lack consistency.
  20. If I had to wager which one is going to last the longest as a starter or even in the bigs the longest I might have to go with Burnes simply because he has more fastball. But honestly I don't think either one with have much off a career. Burnes's stuff is so electric. At this point it is obviously mental. He just can't get out of his own way. He strikes me as the type who the Brewers will eventually tire of, and will be a Cy Young contender at his next stop.
  21. Definitely need to get more consistency from other parts of the lineup. I like Narvaez's bat, and Garcia is solid. Hopefully Urias can make an impact at some point, because he profiles as a solid bat. Other than that, I agree. A bunch of role players I fear.
  22. Hendricks was really good Friday. I just tip my hat on that one. He was, but the Brewers had absolutely no patience either. No excuse for being carved up by a chump like Chatwood today, though.
  23. Typical of the Brewers. Bash Darvish around. Make Hendricks and Chatwood look like Cy Young contenders.
  24. So much for Freddy and Burnes making improvements. They look exactly the same as they did last year. Thankfully it's only one game, but with every game taking on that much more importance, the team can't afford many starts like this.
  25. The key to getting wins against the Cubs is getting to the pen. That pen is a dumpster fire.
