  1. Perhaps a few will think twice before rushing out to stand in line in front of the Apple Store to fork over $2,000 for the newest iPhone that will be obsolete in 6 months when they release the next one.
  2. When your franchise QB is making $30+ million, it is up to him to elevate the talent around him to a point. Tom Brady has taken only a fraction of the salary he probably should have gotten for a big portion of his career, and the patriots were able to surround him with a lot of talent because of that, up until the last year or so when Brady finally got fed up. Don't get me wrong, I love Rodgers and what he's done for the Packers. But I believe that this narrative that the team has declined because they haven't surrounded him with enough talent is a somewhat false one. The fact is his talent has eroded. He's missing open receivers, and he's focusing in on one guy (Adams), to the detriment of the team. This team was better when Adams was out last year because Rodgers was forced to play Lafleur's system and not freelance. Adams is his ticket to freelance more and go back to what he's familiar with. It's time for Rodgers to focus on playing in the system he's in, and making the players around him the best that he can. If he pushes back against that idea, the Packers now have insurance.
  3. The question we have to ask is if Rodgers' immense talent as a younger player "built up" the perceived talent of guys like Nelson, Jennings, Jones, Cobb, Finley and even Driver in his later years. No one can argue that Rodgers was playing at a higher level from 2010-2015 than he has from 2016-2019. Is that because he had better receivers back then, or simply because his talent has eroded somewhat over the years as he's gotten older and more beat up? I would argue that the idea that Rodgers's numbers have declined because the team hasn't surrounded him with talent is not as cut and dry as it seems. I personally don't think that the current receiver talent that is available to him is nearly as far off from what he had 7-8 years ago as many seem to think.
  4. We will hopefully see priorities start to change. Perhaps the world's top research minds could be better utilized to combat issues like this happening again, rather than developing features and apps for the newest iPhone release.
  5. Yep ... you are spot on. I think the Packers were geared up to take Mims in the 2nd, and were a little miffed when the Jets grabbed him a few picks before their spot. That's how it goes, though, when you are picking at the end of every round because your team is good.
  6. Yep .... gearing up for a lot of "told you so's" or crow eating come September. Personally, I think this fanbase is gonna love Dillon. He's the type that will put up 2-3 All Pro-type seasons over the next 3-4 years. Unfortunately he might be on the back end by the time Love is ready to play. That's just the way it is with RBs in the NFL.
  7. Don't sleep on Equanimeous St. Brown. He's got every measureable you'd look for in a potential top receiver. Still only 23 years old.
  8. I think Equanimeous St. Brown might be the biggest winner this weekend. He's a guy that went from such an afterthought that people forgot he was on the team to a guy who is primed to possibly have a huge role in the offense this year. People forget that he was really starting to come on toward the end of the 2018 season, and was earning Rodgers's trust. He's a huge, fast target who isn't afraid to fight for contested balls. He's only 23 years old.
  9. Yep ... good center. Perhaps could kick out to guard. Insurance for Linsley, or perhaps a replacement next year.
  10. If they are going WR (finally), Juwan Johnson from Oregon or Isaiah Hodgins from Oregon State seem like the type they'd like.
  11. I wouldn't be surprised if the Packers grab DT Raequan Williams from Michigan State with one of their next two picks. Fits the size and athletic profile they typically look for with their 3-4 DEs.
  12. I kinda get the feeling people are eventually going to really like the Dillon pick the best. He's the type of runner that can piled up yards. Not the type that will have a very long career, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was an All-Pro level RB for a few seasons. I'm hoping we're eventually going to really like the Love pick the most. If not, I'm not sure any of the rest of it will matter much, to tell you the truth. So much on the line with that one. Yeah, obviously I was talking more immediate gratification. I expect Dillon to have a major role in the 2020 offense.
  13. I think they want to mirror what San Fran does and have 3 backs that could carry the load. Ride the hot hand. Lafleur said as much at one of his press conferences this offseason.

  15. Hey, they took Runyan! Good pick! Like I said earlier, he's the type who they can plug in at guard and not worry for years. Might be able to play tackle as well.
  16. Solid pick there. Martin is a solid, stout ILB. Probably a little better in coverage than Martinez was.
  17. Yep ... run on receivers going on now. I'm going to guess Donovan Peoples-Jones or Trey Adams. Adams would be really good value here. No thanks. (Adams) Peoples-Jones seems like he might be a fit though. Wow ... so much for my research. No wonder he is tumbling. What about Jon Runyan from Michigan? Seems like the kind of guy who could start at guard for a decade, or perhaps kick out to tackle in a pinch.

  19. Yes but just saying that has to be the reason he fell. Mocks and projections had him higher, but these NFL GMs apparently dropped him down a peg. It could be just that the talking heads had him rated higher than he should have been, too. That happens every year. Draft projections are not gospel.
  20. Peoples-Jones has "Packers pick" written all over him. High-end athlete with a great RAS score who underachieved in college.
  21. There he goes, to Tampa. Good spot for him.
  22. Just because you haven't had luck in the past doesn't mean you remove the position from your upper-round draft board. All it takes is one hit to change perceptions.
  23. This whole paragraph makes the assumption that teams value players exactly the same, according to whatever value board you are looking at. The fact is each team attaches different values to players, and the draftniks that put those value boards together are doing so based on their own personal values of those players, not any team's board. While it is easy to spot reaches at times, player value is often clear as mud. Teams select players based on fit and on their own research that indicates how they value them, and how other teams value those players. Your point system is fun to look at, but it is likely extremely inaccurate when it comes to how a team actually values the players they pick.
  24. They needed a big draft. Poor salary cap management left them with tons of holes and little depth at a bunch of spots.
  25. Again, for them to link the two, they have to have something beyond a 'gut feeling.' As far as I'm concerned, it's 40 cases that could have been avoided. If you want a reason why this lockdown is going to last longer than any of us want, it's because of irresponsible actions like this.
