  1. Haudricourt tweeted that he saw Shelby Miller before the game tonight, too, so he'd be another.
  2. And made history....... That is absolutely crazy! Bad night for the offense tonight. That isn't going to be the norm, though. There are too many good hitters in this lineup for this to happen too often.
  3. Welp, that was an uninspiring performance. The lack of patience from the majority of the lineup was alarming. Woody pitched pretty well, though, as did the pen for the most part. Giving up only 3 runs should get you a win most nights. Good: 1. Arcia's aggressiveness with the bat (not so much in the field). 2. Solid work coming back from injury for Knebel and Wahl. 3. Woodruff pitched very well, and took a tough luck loss. Bad: 1. Terrible patience from the vast majority of the lineup. 2. Narvaez's framing isn't nearly as good as Grandal's, and Brewers starters are going to get pinched because of it. 3. It is terrible that we had to wait till July 24 for Opening Day. Excited to see what Burnes brings to the table tomorrow!
  4. I totally forgot he signed an extension. It does seem like he signed it 4 years ago.
  5. Christian Yelich is only 10 months older than Betts. This contract makes Yelich's deal look like the best team-friendly deal in the universe.
  6. LOL you are sticking to your guns on the "Houser isn't a starter" idea. I can respect that. In fairness, Houser would probably pitch better in relief than as a starter. But that can be said about probably at least 95% of starting pitchers. Since Anderson is due back in relatively short order, I suspect there will be a very very short hook for someone. If any of the 3 young guys has 2 bad starts in a row, that's about all it will take as Anderson or Lauer or both will likely be ready to roll by then. Hopefully, all 3 throw a couple gems in a row and make CC's decision very difficult. Yeah, it's been proven that the guy is pretty much a shut-down multi-inning reliever, but if he's also one of the team's five best starters, it makes sense to keep him in a starting role. It's great to have a guy with that sort of flexibility available.
  7. I believe you can get Fox Sports Wisconsin on AT&T TV as well, but it's on one of their extra tiers. Sinclair has done an absolute terrible job keeping their RSNs available. What an absolute joke of a company.
  8. LOL you are sticking to your guns on the "Houser isn't a starter" idea. I can respect that.
  9. Three homegrown guys at the top, followed by a partially homegrown guy in Houser. Pretty exciting.
  10. I am leaning the same way, as I already have the Hulu/Disney/ESPN+ bundle. The last time I used Hulu Live TV, though, (probably August 2019) I was really disappointed in the platform. The YouTube TV one is very good.
  11. You're right ... but he's been held out of field work quite a bit over the last week due to arm fatigue. He played the field for the first time in a week yesterday. If that arm issue flares up again, it is quite possible he'll see time at DH.
  12. I think either Morrison will draw the start at DH, or Hiura will DH and Sogard will slide it at 2B.
  13. Watching Corbin Burnes and Drew Rasmussen mow down hitters with upper-90s heat makes me pretty excited for the future of this pitching staff.
  14. It seems like it was so long ago when the signing of Brett Anderson caused so much consternation amongst the posters here. Simpler times ...
  15. Walmart just announced that they are going to require that masks be worn to shop in any of their stores starting July 20. That's pretty big. You should start seeing a huge influx of mask requirements now. Walmart is the biggest of the retail fish.
  16. The swearing is interesting. Seems like Bill and Brian dont know what to say when that happens. Not sure why they abruptly kill the sound between innings. I keep checking my headphones to see if they are working ok. Because the Brewers don't have the rights to broadcast the music that is played in between innings
  17. These are guys that make a living playing baseball. Most of them were probably ready after about 3-4 days to get their timing down. Spring Training, and preseason in other sports, are somewhat antiquated in today's professional sports atmosphere where the majority of these guys train and follow a strict health regimine year-round. This isn't the 60s where guys had to spend the month of March trying to quit Marlboro Reds and Johnnie Walker while picking up a baseball for the first time since September.
  18. Couldn't they just make a trade for "a player to be named later"?
  19. The way I understood it, they only released the 45 names practicing in Milwaukee to the public, but they did submit the full 60-person roster to MLB. Perhaps they moved one of their COVID-positive players to the COVID IL, where they don't count against the 60-player limit, and File replaced him? Or maybe someone opted out, and word hasn't gotten out yet?
  20. The theme this year I believe was high upside college bats that should move through the system quickly. it's a philosophy that fits into the contention window built around the next 5-6 "Prime Yelich" years. With Yelich now signed long-term, they can now start kicking the can more than 2 years down the road now, but that doesn't necessarily mean focusing on a bunch of 17-18 year olds that are 6+ years out. This team's prime contention window is still pre 2026, when Yelich gets into his mid-30s.
  21. I would imagine/hope that would be the case. Being a Type 1 diabetic does put him at a higher risk should he contract COVID, but he seems very in tune with his condition, and would perhaps be safer living in the "bubble" in Appleton than home in California.
  22. Can the terrible troll negative posts be deleted from the Optimism thread?
  23. I was just looking at Wisconsin's numbers.
  24. Counsell looks ready to fill the crap out of some lineup cards: Holy crap! It looks like he spent the last 12 weeks quarantining on the Bowflex in his garage!
  25. Well, the contact tracing has shown much of the spread to be coming from bars and graduation parties. Supposedly 50% is from people under 30. Which also explains why the percentage of hospitalizations is decreasing. Younger people are typically showing fewer symptoms, and have the immune systems to fight off serious issues for the most part. That isn't stopping the "COVID isn't a big deal" crowd from pointing to those hospitalization numbers to support their argument, though.
