  1. For all we know the Brewers have an offer out to Thames, and he’s just holding out a bit to see if there is any more interest. The 1B market hasn’t exactly gotten going yet.
  2. Yep. No doubt in my mind. Healy was not signed to start at 3B. I’d make a pretty sizable wager on that. And what’s wrong with Jeff McNeil? That bat would look pretty dang nice in this lineup
  3. Good glue guy. I expect him to make that team and play quite a bit. Just hope he isn’t very good
  4. This is 1B Ryan Braun insurance. That’s it.
  5. Yeah, we got the joke. C'mon, you have to admit, it is a 100% spot on analogy. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad. That’s not what’s sad here
  6. So basically he makes the team or he is out? No. Minor league deal. Not on the roster
  7. Is there any doubt that this guy is going to tear the cover off the ball in San Antonio, and force his way up to Milwaukee, where he's going to get entirely too many ABs?
  8. Part of me wonders whether dealing Hader to the Mets for Jeff McNeil, Dominic Smith and a prospect might be on the table? McNeil could be easily plugged in at 3B, and his lefty bat would have good power potential in Miller Park. Dom Smith is more of a question mark, obviously. But those two in the lineup would make things look pretty potent from top to bottom.
  9. Been meaning to ask this for a while - is your shift key broken? I find it hilarious that you have the acute accent over the "i"'s, but no capitalization. I’ve asked the same question several times over the years. I’ve never gotten a response.
  10. Yeah, that inconsistency isn't fetching a premium prospect from anyone. Bell is a nice player, but he is tied to 1B. I personally see a lot of similarities to Jesus Aguilar.
  11. According to McCalvy, Garcia was told by Counsell he will be playing predominantly in LF, with some CF mixed in. To me this seems like an odd choice, as metrics have indicated that Yelich is better in LF than RF given his arm strength, and that Garcia has a much stronger arm. I do wonder if the idea of Yelich moving to 1B does have a bit of merit? Perhaps they can find someone else to take those RF at-bats? Calhoun perhaps?
  12. IMO the more significant number would be innings. Miley has thrown 765 innings over the last five years, Anderson with only 503. Anderson was a top prospect, slotted into the A's rotation in 2009 and made 30 starts. Since that time, over the last 10 seasons, he's only hit the 20 start mark two times. Over those 10 years he's only averaged 82 innings per season. That's easily my biggest concern with Anderson. I like the fact that Stearns brought in a ground ball pitcher, which could be a good fit for Miller Park. Low K total really doesn't concern me too much. But the guy isn't helping the team if he is on the DL, and that has been a major problem for Anderson throughout his entire career. That's why Anderson was as inexpensive as he was, despite his solid numbers last year.
  13. I'm sort of surprised the proposed deal doesn't include Arcia as well.
  14. That's fair. The Reds may very well be fine ... but it's all on paper right now. Pretty much everyone in that lineup outside of Votto hit out of his mind last year, and that chances of that happening again are probably slim.
  15. I feel that is wishful thinking and downplaying a team that is 100% on the upswing. We are no longer battling just the Cubs and Cardinals, the Reds are going to have a say in the 2020 season, even if so many here choose to believe they will be the same old Reds. They got a bunch of hype last year too, and did nothing with it. My view on the Reds is that they are bad until they prove they aren't. A few acquisitions added to a disjointed team doesn't earn them anything.
  16. Exactly! Moose was a fine player for the Brewers, but I get the feeling the sense of how good he actually was is somewhat overinflated around here. Provided Donaldson stays healthy, he's better, and it isn't particularly close.
  17. @BNightengale · 2m Avisail Garcia's two-year,$20 million guarantee with the #Brewers could turn into a three-year, $30 million contract. He gets a 500K signing bonus, $7M in 2020, $10M in 2021 with a $12M club option or $2M buyout in 2022. Its a mutual option if he has 550 plate appearances in 2021 I like this deal better now. Although it's tough to see the team picking up his option if he has fewer than 550 plate appearances in 2021.
  18. Why are we trading Ray at his absolute lowest value? That makes no sense.
  19. Hornibrook will be lucky to get a rookie camp tryout somewhere. Might get an XFL or CFL opportunity.
  20. The Reds suck until they prove otherwise. As mentioned earlier, they just had a year where the majority of their lineup had career years, and still only won 75 games. I don't think it's prudent to hand them anything.
  21. 2019 Miley: 167.1 IP, 3.98 ERA, 4.51 FIP, 4.52 xFIP, 1.34 WHIP, 89 ERA-, 100 FIP-, 2.0 fWAR, 2.0 rWAR 2019 Anderson: 176.0 IP, 3.89 ERA, 4.57 FIP, 4.79 xFIP, 1.31 WHIP, 87 ERA-, 102 FIP-, 2.0 fWAR, 2.5 rWAR LOL ... this made my night! I kinda figured that Anderson was pretty much the new Miley, and this confirms it. We all like Miley because he pitched very well for the Brewers in 2018. But Anderson has every appearance of being a solid signing.
  22. I'd never considered this and think it's a pretty great idea. You don't need him in the OF as it stands and 1B would probably be much easier on his back. His length might play well at first, and he's got a poor OF arm anyway. The more I think about it, the more I think this might be a possibility. What if Braun and Yelich split LF and 1B time? Kind of a 1-year arrangement until Braun is gone, then you pick a spot for Yelich, and sign a guy to fill the other spot. Didn't Yelich play some 1B in the minors?
  23. That's a good deal for Miley. I think that is the wrong stadium for him, though. he's gonna get hit around pretty good in that bandbox.
  24. How many games do we realistically think Cain will be able to start in 2020? Is anyone else besides Gamel really going to man CF when that happens? I guess Yelich can play CF in a pinch, but I doubt they want Braun or Garcia out there. They still have Tyrone Taylor too ... who is a very good defender in CF. Will be a phone call away if he doesn't make the team outright.
