  1. Good for you that you can maintain a positive outlook, and I don't mean that sarcastically. I just see too many holes. They just don't have the skill players on offense to be able to beat top defenses like the 49ers and Saints. They have probably the worst special teams unit I've ever seen as a Packer fan. All of that could perhaps be overcome if they had an elite defense, but they don't have one, not even close. I see probably a 6-4 quality team that has won almost all close games against almost all average opponents. They'll almost certainly be a playoff team, but I'm not expecting much. I can't buy into the 2010 comparisons. That team certainly was written off too as you said, but that team was in every single game it played all season long. They never had a game where they looked like they didn't belong. Then I suggest perhaps enjoying this season for what it is. A team with a good record coming off two bad years, all with a rookie coach. Yeah the great record makes it tough to temper expectations, but it might be the best way to enjoy this team.
  2. I just don't see it with the Vikings. They've been ok, but other than that Lions game, no huge offensive explosions. They strike me as a one and done playoff team. Perhaps thats what the Packers are too, though.
  3. Congratulations? Don't congratulate me, Joey. You think I'm happy about it? This sucks ass. I thought there was a chance we were a Super Bowl contender. I was really excited about where this season was going tonight and this more or less extinguishes it. But the 49ers are a better football team, and it's not particularly close. All I have to go by is what I'm seeing. Fair enough. I'm going to maintain a positive outlook. The Packers all but have a playoff spot sewn up, and anything can happen once you get there. Games like tonight make it not look likely, but the 2010 team was written off a bunch of times, too. Bummer of a night, but I'm not going to let it tarnish what's been a very good, fun season so far.
  4. I don't think the Niners are this much better. The Packers are playing like garbage. Minnesota has more weapons, but are too inconsistent to do much of anything I think.
  5. First half against the Chargers was pretty terrible. Niners are better, and took advantage. Coming out like this after a bye is a direct reflection of poor game planning and coaching. Black mark on what's been a pretty remarkable first season for Lafleur.
  6. Sheesh JK Scott is suddenly horrible.
  7. I had hope that a few of the young guys would develop. They haven't.
  8. Wondering the same thing. He was spectacular ... and now getting off 30 yarders? Weird.
  9. My goodness. This game is playing up to what you love totally. All negative, all the time. You do get the idea of a reverse jinx... Right? With every post? No
  10. Or Antonio Brown. Ugh. I'd rather they sign Tim Brown.
  11. The biggest hindrance, though, is that they have no speed in the group, other than MVS I suppose. Bryant wouldn't help that.
  12. Yeah ... they are playing to not let Adams beat them, and the rest of the receivers can't take advantage.
  13. My goodness. This game is playing up to what you love totally. All negative, all the time.
  14. Aaron Jones looks like the only one with any sort of fire out there on offense tonight.
  15. Defense came to play tonight. Been awhile. Nice to see.
  16. It's Nov. 24. But I guess a zebra doesn't change it's stripes.
  17. Those people are morons. There’s no better word to describe them that isn’t vulgar.
  18. Grandal will be 35 in the last year of his deal, and from what I read, each year is $18.25 million
  19. I would prefer Moose and Didi to Rendon only from a standpoint that it lengthens and balances the lineup. A RH-LH lineup 1-6 of Cain-Yelich-Braun-Moose-Hiura-Didi would be pretty sweet. Bring Thames back to play 1B please. I really get the feeling that the Brewers are sinking or swimming with Arcia at SS. Call it an educated hunch, but to me using him as a model for the new uniforms, plus the comments from the new assistant hitting coach point to Arcia being the primary SS in 2020.
  20. The Reds are interested in Zach Wheeler? You don't say? https://theathletic.com/1401490/2019/11/22/rosenthal-the-reds-are-interested-in-zack-wheeler-the-braves-big-bullpen-bet-more-notes/ I don't know who leaks the Reds interest in free agents every offseason, but they are literally interested in everyone, every year, and hardly ever do they actually pull the trigger.
  21. Cain? Assuming he is 2018 Cain? I know being a Brewer fan for years tends to beat the optimist out of the best of us, but yeah.
  22. Say what you want about being financially efficient, but the White Sox are throwing their money around. That is a ton of money invested in a couple older free agents over the last couple days, though. High, high risk.
  23. This is where I am too. They are going to do something big at some point this offseason. Maybe it’ll be a big trade that nobody saw coming instead of a signing. Maybe they will do both. But I really do think something big is going to happen. On Rendon, I would love to have that bat protecting Yelich. I think I would rather have Strasburg or Cole though if we are spending around $30 million per year for one guy. I’m guessing Rendon will get something along the lines of 7/$230 million. No one saw the Grandal signing until it happened last year. Pretty much the same thing with the Cain deal the year before. Whenever this does happen. it more than likely is going to be random and completely out of the blue.
  24. I'd love to get Duffy too. He would be an excellent backup infielder. Not a platoon with Shaw because Duffy has absolutely no power and if Shaw continues to stink, it makes 3B a huge hole w/o a remedy. Goody would be a decent pickup as a backend of the pen reliever, especially if the 26th man can be a 14th pitcher. Just say no to Cortes. He was badly overmatched in the big leagues last year (5.80 ERA - 5.57 FIP - 28 walks in only 66 IPS - 1.55 WHIP - 2.2 HRs per 9). He needs to prove he is a big lg. pitcher. Maybe if they can get him signed to a minor lg. deal. I'm not sure what you see in Cotton either. Even before the TJ surgery he wasn't much. In 2017: 5.58 ERA/5.68 FIP - 2 HRs per 9 - more hits than IPs - almost 4 walkes per 9.. Now he hasn't pitched for two years and a huge injury history. Maybe take a flyer and sign him to a minor lg. deal with a spring training invite. I don't think a team that has its eyes on contending in 2020 is going to get involved with Rule 5 picks. The aforementioned Duffy made 2.6 million dollars last year, that's why Tampa is getting rid of them. No team is going to claim him and assume his contract. Nick Goody is Ray Black without the options. Cotton hasn't pitched in two years, maybe a team like Detroit can afford to carry a player like that on their major league roster all year, but not a team that wants to win in 2020. Ray Black is Ray Black without the options ...
