  1. They weren't going to win out. You know that. You're not wrong, but neither is he. 2 GB with 11 to play is just a lot different place to be than 3 GB with 10 to play. It's not impossible, but tough ask. Cardinals are a very good team. Them beating Scherzer was kind of the tough blow today. You go into today liking the chances to gain ground and end up dropping one instead. We can beat the Nats in a 1 game, as the Cardinals showed today Scherzer can be beat. The Cardinals also go into a four gamer in a very tough place to play tomorrow. It wouldn't surprise me to see the Cards drop 3 of 4. If the Brewers win tomorrow and take care of business against the Pirates this weekend, they could very well go into the off day Monday near the top of the division. The Cubs and Cards will share 7 losses in some way in the next week and a half. If the Cards stumble this weekend, the division is still very much in play.
  2. It just sucks to drop winnable games in September. The Brewers didn't have a ton of opportunities tonight, but they had enough that they should have been able to cash in on. Really wasted a very good pitching performance from Houser and the pen because the offense couldn't get anything going.
  3. They weren't going to win out. You know that.
  4. OK ... lets get the series tomorrow. Still in great shape.
  5. Not so much that it was the guys first HR. More the fact that Hauser throws a 0-2 pitch right down the heart of the plate. Seems like Brewer pitchers do that way too often on 0-2 and 1-2 counts You can't say that here. True but you can't say that here. Why not? That really has been an issue all year.
  6. Nice work by Guerra to wiggle off the hook.
  7. The worst part of that was the ump following CC towards the dugout. That is flat out wrong. I hate this #UMPSHOW crap. Has happened way too often this year.
  8. Are you serious? Isn't there a Packer game replay you can go watch?
  9. Nice work from Jackson to escape that. He's had a few mediocre outings, but for the most part has been pretty impressive.
  10. We are going to lose and we are going to lose on days the other guys win. I don't think dropping this game is particularly crushing. All that assuming we can't score a couple of runs in several innings. It's really not crushing. The two teams we are bunched with in the standings in the division are guaranteed 7 losses over the next week and a half. The playoffs are there for the taking for the Brewers, whether they come back tonight or not.
  11. Pat Murphy: Craig, we have 5 healthy OFers ready to roll. Counsell: OK, lets play our second baseman out there.
  12. OK, I know this team Ks a lot, but 14 in 6 innings is excessive. At least Lamet is probably done.
  13. Somehow I don't think that .254 average and .790 OPS is what the Padres thought they'd be getting with Manny. Yeah, 30 HRs, but other than that, he's been underwhelming.
  14. Maybe last Sept./Oct's Orlando is still in there somewhere?
  15. Take away one bad pitch, and Adrian Houser was a stud tonight. Yes, I know you can't take away one pitch, but he pitched very well tonight and doesn't deserve the eventual loss that's coming if the bats can't get it together.
  16. Grandal I don't think has the arm Pina has, but he is very accurate to 2nd.
  17. It does kind of make me wonder how good this team's advanced pro scouting is, because this isn't the first relatively young, inexperienced pitcher with middling numbers who has carved this lineup up this year. They seem to do much better against more familiar guys, but any guys with limited exposure seem to really get to them a lot. Perhaps it's just perception and not reality.
  18. Was thinking the same thing. So many checck/bad swings tonight. Not a lot of plate discipline. This guy is kinda ll over the place, and the Brewers are letting him get away with it.
  19. If only he had his velocity LOL, right ... our favorite conclusion jumper did point that out, didn't he? Houser has sat at 95-96, occasionally touching 97 during his time in the bigs, and that's exactly where he's at tonight.
