Black will be worth it as long as he's willing to throw at Cubs. We need an enforcer. Not unless he goes all out and grows a sweet fu manchu.

The Lyles for Ponce deal has possibly already paid off. It's going to be pretty cool when at least two of the three hurlers acquired today turn out to me major contributors down the stretch as well. Stearns has made his mistakes, but the guy (or his analytics dept) has a pretty keen sense for identifying pitchers who are diamonds in the rough or guys that may have numbers that indicate they are underperforming.

So ... our makeshift rotation has done the job so far. Jordan Lyles looked very solid tonight. Sitting easy at 94-95, and that curve was snapping.
  4. Ron Robinsons Beard
His numbers aren't great this year ... but yeah.

Do the idiot drumming ladies even pay attention to the game? How could they? Morons.
  6. Ron Robinsons Beard
Yeah ... they called it a splitter. Looked like a grooved BP fastball to me.

Do not like this situation ... at all.
  8. Ron Robinsons Beard
Man ... this A's defense has made a ton of very nice plays the last couple nights.
  9. Ron Robinsons Beard
This would be a prime time to pinch hit Aguilar ... oh well.

Not quite 12, but he was much more patient ... and sure enough, a good thing happened.
  11. Ron Robinsons Beard
Barf JJ .... pure barf. His stuff has been so hittable this year.

Drew Pomeranz can't get here fast enough! umm, sentences I never thought I'd say for 100, Alex

Yeah, but still, what were they waiting for last year? It's not like he was a future building block then when they could have gotten something for him. I thought there was quite a bit of scuttlebutt last year around the trade deadline about the Reds wanting to extend him? We can talk about Aguilar all we want, but Gennett was an All-Star last season as well, and was in some MVP conversations. And the Reds basically gave him away for nothing today. The Reds are a weirdly run franchise.

Burnes wasn't on the 25-man while on the IL. Lyles took Aguilar's spot on the roster.

So how's this for a piece of trivia? The four current members the the Brewers starting rotation were on the roster at the end of last season. Three of them (Anderson, Davies and Lyles) weren't deemed good enough to make the playoff roster, while the 4th (Houser), didn't even warrant a call-up during roster expansion despite being on the 40 man. My how times have changed.

Because baseball. Do they send him out for the 6th? Seems like he's actually settled down the last few innings. I imagine he's earned himself at least one more start.

This I do agree with. His plate discipline has taken a step back this year. THIS YEAR? Come on. Its been like that for a few years. This is the first year I've noticed it ... but perhaps it just seems more pronounced. Its almost like he sometimes decides before the pitch is even thrown that he's going to swing, location be damned. It sucks, because when he's patient, he can still look like Braun circa 2011.

Spoken like a true Ryan Braun fan

Can you imagine having expensive season tickets, then spending 81 home dates banging on a dang drum for 3+ hours. They've shown those ladies a few times (the cowbell lady and the one with a perma-scowl and snare drum), and I have decided that neither are good people
  21. Ron Robinsons Beard
I was thinking the same thing actually, as crappy as it is. If the Brewers are going to be the team to go on a run and pull away, it's important the cluster behind them continues to beat each other up.

So let's recap. I jest at Braun. You get defensive. I tell you to get over yourself You jest at me. That's the same? Holy crap, you ARE RYAN BRAUN! Or do you just troll people when they don't agree with you? You don't need to answer that, I know the answer. Braun takes a lot of seemingly unnecessary crap for a guy who is still a productive hitter. I'm not a huge Braun guy, but I don't understand the ripping he gets either, so I get where Brew4u is coming from when he gets irked by it. It's not like they are sending Saladino out in the #3 hole.

Man can Hiura hit! If Grisham can come up and provide a nice OBP, this offense will look completely different.
  24. Ron Robinsons Beard
    He wasn't the instigator

I'm just happy to have a couple of runs on the board early in the game. Kinda forgot what this feels like.
