  1. As has been mentioned a lot, there is no indication that Kimbrel would accept a 1-year deal for any amount of money. It's all speculation. Personally, I think if he were willing to sign a short-term deal, he'd be on a team. Not according to some of the real baseball writers, Heyman said kimbrel in trouble. No ones offering him a competitive one year offer. Braves haven’t even made a formal offer. I believe poster’s friend that said crew offer 2 at 20 or 3 at 30. That fits the Haudricourt crew only 9 mil to spend. Haudricourt article condescending. Condescending? To whom?

  3. You are really letting this get to you. I agree that Tom may be speculating quite a bit in this article, but it is also 100% possible that they have determined what their spending limit is, and signing Kimbrel just isn't fiscally in the cards. I mean, as long as Kimbrel doesn't have a team, I suppose there's a chance he might end up in Milwaukee, but I personally think that chance diminishes with each passing day of the season.
  4. Really nicely pitched game tonight by the Brewers. Woodruff was solid and looks like a completely different pitcher than he was a year ago at this time. Guerra, Claudio and Wilson did just fine. And of course, Hader doing Hader things.
  5. Haudricourt still has small marketitis, he was shocked the crew signed Grandal for goodness sakes. Article ridiculous, over the top asinine, seems like he and Attanasio got together to write that article. Is this supposed to be in blue?
  6. It appears Hader is starting to loosen. I too worry about burning him out. I wonder how long they'll keep a live arm like Josh Fields down in the minors before bringing him up?
  7. At this point, I honestly can't explain what happened to the 2017 version of Eric Thames. He looked completely lost after coming back from this thumb injury last year, and it's continued so far this year. It's too bad, because they guy could be a huge weapon.
  8. Followed up quickly with a new "it's not gonna happen" story from Haudricourt. https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/columnists/tom-haudricourt/2019/03/30/haudricourt-brewers-unlikely-sign-craig-kimbrel/3302643002/
  9. He must have hit it hard... but right at the Cardinals shortstop. Can we get Hiura up and Moose at short yet? Arcia's defense is what literally allows them to play an average defensive 3B at 2B. He isn't going anywhere. He'll eventually hit.
  10. I'm a fan of Peralta, but I think it's going to be plainly obvious that he isn't ready yet. He was all over last night, and his velocity was down. That was concerning.
  11. Obviously have to see how the season plays out, but Lagares started game one. The Brewers have started plenty of bad players over better options. Lagares is a bad, bad player.
  12. It certainly is a positive to hear that there is still a dialogue between the two sides. I still say it's in the Brewers' best interest to not make a desperation long-term offer, though. At this point, without any Spring Training, the earliest I could see Kimbrel be ready is late April. Therefore, they need to offer him a contract that is conducive with him missing the first month of games. There's no way I'd go over $15 million. But that's just me.
  13. Albers looked great last night! Who needs Kimbrel when we have Good Albers?!?
  14. Here's my odd thought ... Freddy Peralta will probably be starting at San Antionio by the end of April. He was pretty horrible, not hitting his spots, and velocity was down. I have hope for him after he looked so good in Spring Training, so I'd like to see him get a few more starts, but at first glance, he isn't ready.
  15. I've been in the same situation you are on this board. You believe in what you are saying so much that you are actually getting mad that everyone isn't agreeing with you. Let me tell you from experience, that is never going to work out like you hope. It's baseball, and there is going to be different opinions on how you win. As long as you present those opinions in a respectful manner, and not get upset or condescend those who disagree or have an alternative opinion, things will be fine. It's obvious in this case that you are viewing the current bullpen situation as much more dire than a lot of other posters here. That's fine ... just be careful telling posters what they "need" to think. Trust me, I've been that guy. Ok I’ll try to be more cognizant of peoples feelings. I will say this, listening to mlb radio right now, Steve Phillips and Eduardo Perez can’t believe Brewers not doing anything with their pen. Everybody outside of brewerland knows brewers pen in trouble. National big market biased talking heads ignorant of things Milwaukee, except in this case. Just remember, those same talking heads admonished the Brewers for not doing more to help their rotation last year, saying they were wasting a prime opportunity to get to the playoffs. We all know how that turned out. Those guys are wrong, A lot. Just because you happen to agree with what they are saying now doesn't mean it's any more right. THere's also a reason why Steve Philips is no longer running an MLB team ... and overpaying in panic moves is ironically one of them.

  17. You and me both. Counsell is gonna earn his money, that's for sure. It's going to be exciting to watch this evolve, hopefully for the good.
  18. They have a plan. These guys have proven to be much smarter baseball people than any of us, so I'm inclined to trust them.
  19. 10 days ago this seemed like it was a done-deal, foregone conclusion. There were rumors that Kimbrel was in Arizona to get his elbow checked out. Then nothing. I think one of the sides likely backed out of a roughly agreed-on deal. I imagine that either the Brewers found something in their medical eval, or Kimbrel changed his mind about accepting whatever the team was offering. I don't know if the Knebel situation played a role at all. But judging from Robert Murray's story that came out yesterday, it seems the ship has sailed.
