  1. If Ray were in the Yankees system, he'd be a Top 25 prospect. No doubt in my mind. And that sucks. It shows how arbitrary these lists are.
  2. I think it's clear that Machado is Plan A... Brewers just waiting for the right time to surprise us all... I can see it now ... Attanasio is on stage Sunday at Brewers On Deck, and suddenly Uecker comes out pushing a wheelchair with a blanket over the occupant's head. Attanasio pulls off the blanket to reveal ... Manny Machado in a Brewer jersey! A course of cheers and jeers rain down while Attanasio and Manny give the crowd the stink eye ... Executive Producer: Vince McMahon
  3. A straight-up position switch in the midst of a pennant race no less. It should be noted that while Shaw will likely never be mistaken for a Gold Glover at 2B, his defense there certainly wasn't a detriment to the team. I'd say he exceeded most expectations there. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Is a Moose signing on the table, with Shaw moving to 2B? Will they sign one of the remaining 2Bs still on the market? (Dietrich, Walker, Forsythe, Harrison, Gonzalez, Solarte?) Is there a trade in the works? Perhaps the Brewers know something about Cory Spangenberg that pegs him as a breakout candidate? The guy is super athletic, and has a solid pedigree.
  4. Without getting political, American Family Field does sound better than FoxConn Field
  5. It is entirely possible that there is some metric out there and points to an offensive decline from Cabrera, which would make him basically useless. Perhaps they have a deal lined up with Moose, and are waiting to announce it for some reason. Of course, I could be 100% wrong, and they could feel that Hiura will be up and making a contribution way before I think he will.
  6. Ehh, whatever. We had one of the most boring park names in history in "County Stadium" for a long time, so I think we can deal with "American Family Park". If they add the word "Insurance" to the name, that would be stupid. If this money is put back into the team, I'm good with it. However, I'd be kinda mad if I were an American Family customer. How about putting profits into more affordable insurance plans, instead of wasting money on baseball stadium naming rights that really have no connection to your industry?
  7. With how much he ended up signing for, and the fact that it is only a 1-year deal, my guess would be "a lot".
  8. Cheap flip candidate. I would put the chances of him playing the whole season for the Rangers at about .25%. Pretty obvious that the Brewers either feel their internal 2B candidates are better, or they have a different solution cooking.
  9. I'm OK with this. The bat is nice, but I think the Brewers value quality defensive versatility. While Cabrera offers defensive versatility, it is far from quality.
  10. I don't think anyone was/is duped. There is a pretty high level of skepticism in fact. Oh boy. It was a heavy dose of sarcasm my friend. Apparently I haven't had enough coffee yet this morning ...
  11. I don't think anyone was/is duped. There is a pretty high level of skepticism in fact.
  12. Are any of these Brewers Twitter regulars also regular posters here? Once in a while I recognize names and posting style, but for the most part its hard to tell. I believe that all the Twitter fools, if not posters, are lurking constantly. Hi guys!
  13. That is likely. But ... at least it is something to talk about in January. Say what you want about the HH fiasco a year ago, at least it kept things really interesting for a few months.
  14. Different guy. Who knows if its credible. He's standing by it on Twitter, though.
  15. This idea was pretty much said verbatim before the Grandal deal as well. I didn’t believe it to be the case then, and don’t now. The Brewers don’t operate under a hard cap or budget. If there is value in an acquisition, they’ll make it. There is no evidence otherwise.
  16. That Reds' rotation is either going to be great or horrible. No in-between. I feel like that whole rotation is #4-5 starters with #2-3 upside.
  17. Well, no one really saw the Grandal move coming. Stearns really seems to enjoy operating in the shadows when it comes to player interest and potential moves.
  18. LOL David Stearns = rebound chick! I don't know how interested I am in Gray, but seeing Stearns swoop in and steal him from under the Reds' noses would be fun. Edit: On second thought ... nope:
  19. In all seriousness, Brewers On Deck is 6 days away. Based on past experience, I fully expect the Brewers to make a move this week. This team's media contingent and social media presence is ultra-cheesy like that.
  20. I knew I should have ranked Cam Roegner higher!
  21. That seems like an oddly specific idea to throw out there. According to MLB Pipeline, the Brewers' #8-11 prospects are Zack Brown, Jacob Nottingham, Jake Gatewood and Payton Henry.
  22. And acquired an extra 4th in the process... Yeah pretty much the comp pick that Washington will get now but if you believe a 4th rounder this year is equal to a 3rd in next years draft we probably will come out ahead there. Plus we don't have to worry as much about losing the comp pick when we sign FA's ourselves, I am hopeful Gutes isn't as stingy about keeping those comp picks as TT was. Comp pick wouldn't come until 2020. Also, 4th rounders are awarded for good free agents who sign big deals. HHCD may get a decent deal based on his name alone, but if anyone actually floats him a deal based on what he's put on tape over the last couple years, he'll be lucky to find much of anything on the open market.
  23. I think the deal for Gamel doomed any chance of a Granderson reunion. If the Brewers are simply looking for a reserve OF who can give them a good AB and get on base at a decent clip, Melky Cabrera is still sitting out there.
  24. While I certainly understand that concern, there may be other reasons at play, too. Its certainly possible that he wasn't interested in getting moved to a different team only to play a bit role. I know that the Phillies have several former Baltimore front office people on their staff as well, so perhaps there was some bad blood there? Just saying that in my opinion he makes sense as a guy that can feasibly replace the RH production lost by trading Broxton and Santana. I suppose the state of the OF depth depends on how they view the futures of Tyrone Taylor, Troy Stokes and Corey Ray.
  25. Adam Jones is still sitting out there as a free agent. Does he bring a redundant skillset to what Cain brings? Well, yes. But ... while his bat isn't what it once was, it is still a potent RH option, and he would provide coverage throughout all three OF positions when Braun faces his inevitable injury concerns. I'm concerned how this lineup matches up against lefties, especially if Moose is eventually resigned, and Jones would counteract those concerns. He could split time in RF with Gamel during Braun injuries, and see plenty of time as a #4/5 OF and dangerous pinch hitter. Now because he'd be an absolute luxury, he'd have to come cheap. But there hasn't been much talk out there on him, so you never know, right? Honestly if I were running the Indians, I would have signed him already. That OF once again is looking poor.
