  1. Do you think it is possible that Webb, Brown, Harber and Supak are all in the AAA rotation next year? Diplan, Jankins, Ponce and Roegner have had their moments as well. Brewers have a lot of talented arms hitting the upper levels of the system.
  2. I'm pulling for Pittsburgh, Arizona, Cincy and Washington. That NL West race is crazy close, and I personally would love to see the Dodgers not make it in. After getting swept by Washington in a DH yesterday, the Phillies are all but eliminated. They'd basically have to win out and hope for help. The Nats also stand a tiny chance. I hope they win today, so they have at least a little something to play for tomorrow against the Cubs.
  3. Last week's game 3 against the Cubs was a "must win" as well. They didn't win, and here we are, still in the thick of the division race. While today is certainly an important game, I don't think it's "do-or-die" quite yet. The Brewers are very hot, and the Cubs are scuffling with two weeks of games left to go. Those trends could change, but if they continue at all, the Brewers will stand a good shot at the division regardless of the outcome of today's game. If the Brewers take care of business against the Pirates and Reds, they'll be sitting quite nicely at this time next week.
  4. Dodgers lost, so the Brewers don't lose ground to them. Cardinals just won't go quietly into the night, but with the Dodgers and Cards playing four against each other this weekend, one stands a decent shot of being in a pretty big hole by early next week. Phillies are just about toast as well.
  5. Welp, go get 'em tomorrow and get out of Chicago down one game. Then make the Cubs fly to Washington late tomorrow night.
  6. Sometimes it just isn't your night. Tonight would qualify.
  7. Guerra looked pretty electric there. Doesn't hurt to have another power arm out in the pen.
  8. And mowing through the Brewers lineup. Because of course the Cubs can grab a crappy lefty off the scrap heap, and he suddenly becomes a lock-down late inning reliever. I know, the Brewers only grab guys like Chacin and Miley and turn them into good starting pitchers. I could go the other way and say only the cubs can pay $34 million in salary to two starting pitchers who’ve given them nothing. I guess my point is that it is Jorge de la Rosa, of all pitchers, making a meaningful late-inning appearance against the Brewers in a division race. He's been the definition of mediocre for a very long time. But have left arm, will travel. I'll give you the Brewers fixing Miley, but Chacin was a good pitcher before coming to the Brewers.

  10. I remember De La Rosa getting shelled often as a Brewer all those years ago.
  11. Oh man Woodruff. His stuff is so good. Seems like he always gives up one big hit though.
  12. Disagree. Pina has been hot pretty much since the AS break.
  13. Me too. Seeing Machado and Dozier miss the playoffs would be quite nice.
  14. Why would we want Kapernick? The guy hasn't played in 2 years...and he literally has not been good in like 4-5. And that's purely a football opinion...nothing to do with the absolute clownshow circus he'd bring into town nor his politics. Kizer is just fine...we're done if Rodgers is MIA for the year anyway. Kaepernick was actually quite effective numbers wise his last year with San Fran, other than his record. He's be a much, much better option than Kizer. I agree it would be a circus, but if your goal is to still make the playoffs, Kaepernick would stand a better chance of helping you do that most assuredly.
  15. Do they let Pina bat here, or yank him for a pinch hitter and let Nottingham catch the rest of the game?
  16. Yep, this better be overturned. If it isn't replay sucks.
  17. At least with these long ABs Quintana will be done after this inning.
  18. Really like Cedeno so far. That was a pretty astute trade, especially since he can be back next year at an affordable salary.
  19. Even if you look only at Villar's production as a Brewer he was better than Schoop has been. Your statement "Not great, but certainly an upgrade over either Villar" is not true about Schoop--especially when you view their production post-trade. Schoop sucks and the Brewers wasted talent and made their team worse by trading for him. You are viewing the move through a vacuum. It was obvious Counsell lost faith in Villar, and he wasn't going to get regular time moving forward. He needed a change of scenery. Don't you think Villar might feel less pressure hitting on a horrible team with a horrible lineup?
  20. Chacin settled down and pitched great. C'mon Santana, prove it is a good move pulling him here.
  21. Makes you wonder what Johnson could do with a guy with more talent, though. Jimmy Nelson says hi. My point exactly. I sure hope Nelson can come back at close to 2017 level next year. What Johnson has been able to cobble together rotation-wise this year is nothing short of miraculous.
