  1. Exactly. I too hope he's the 2018 version of Don Sutton, but I think there needs to be a little brake tapping on the ace savior talk.
  2. Dodgers with a commanding 9-5 lead on the Cardinals in the 8th. It wouldn't bother me to see the Cardinals cool off and inch toward elimination.
  3. This is where having next to no depth in the upper minors is biting them. The Brewers, on the other hand, are so flush with 40-man depth that they didn't even have room to bring up useful pitchers like Houser and Wilkerson for the stretch run. Houser would probably either be in the rotation or closing games right now if he were a Cub.
  4. I don't know how he possibly burned through his whole roster with them being expanded. I guess leaving Schwarber at home came back to bite them.
  5. After the issues the Brewers have had with pitchers getting hurt batting or running the bases, they should start a support group. Strop would be a tough loss for them He's pretty dang solid at the back of that pen.
  6. Kieboom goes KA-BOOM!!! (*rimshot)
  7. I hope Joe Ross has the game of his life!
  8. I think we are all definitely Nats fans today. Other than that, though, I'm not 100% sure who to root for in the other two games. I guess I don't want to see the Cardinals in the playoffs at all, so I'm rooting for Arizona to win and climb the Wild Card standings, along with the Dodgers. I guess all these Wild Card contenders beating up on each other is a good thing for the Brewers regardless. Or I guess Arizona could lose to help solidify Colorado as a playoff team.
  9. This! While the system depth did take a hit with all the deals, I wouldn't qualify any of the players given up as future cornerstone types. They also managed to weed out several guys in need of Rule 5 40-man protection, so that's a win-win as well. Just taking a look at the talented starting pitching staff Biloxi has this year makes me think that not only the immediate future is bright, but the long-range forecast is calling for sunny skies as well Please. Please. PLEASE remember this anytime we want to complain about not trading for an "ace". We have our stud farm rearing and ready to join as soon as next season all while making a playoff run this season. I think Stearns has been diligent in turning over every rock in a quest to acquire an ace-type pitcher, but it just hasn't happened as of yet. It wouldn't surprise me in the least to see a big move this offseason for one of those types, though. He knows now that this team's base is elite, and a top-end rotation may be all that's standing in the way of being the top team in the NL for the next several years. Granted those types obviously are difficult to acquire, but if a guy like deGrom, Syndergaard, Bumgarner, or even Wheeler became available, I would hope and expect Stearns to be heavily involved in those conversations. That said, even if a pitcher is not acquired, the Brewers stand to have tremendous talented starting pitching depth going into the 2019 season, especially if Nelson makes a full recovery.

  11. Nats are all but eliminated, but by winning today, they still have a sliver of a Wild Card hope. At least they have a little more than pride to play for tomorrow.
  12. I know Curtis Granderson is older than dirt, but I wonder if they would consider bringing him back next year. Seems like a great leader, solid team guy, clutch hits, solid defense. Not much not to like.
  13. One game out. Huge series win on the road. Now they gotta take care of business against the Pirates this weekend. Can't get lazy.
  14. Cubs haven't lost a series at Wrigley since late May, according to Anderson. Icing on the cake!
  15. Perhaps. Depends on the matchups. Cubs have quite a few righties lined up for this inning. Makes sense to pitch Jeffress here.
  16. Between tonight's game and having to play in D.C. tomorrow, I kinda wanna listen to Chicago sportstalk radio tomorrow morning
  17. I love that this game is dragging on. I wanna see Moose hit a slam here, then have Counsell go through 3 pitchers in the bottom of the ninth. Get that plane to DC out of O'Hare late!
  18. Oh man ... Yelich normally scores on that. He had to hesitate a bit though. Probably a good decision.
  19. I think the chance that Hader comes out for the 9th is less than 0%. It had to be killing Counsell to pitch him again here after going two on Monday. Go Grandy! Huge insurance run. Really nice pickup there. Hader want he PH by Arcia nust befpre? It was 1 pitch so you blink you missed that. JJ for 9th. THat's right ... came out of commercial to Arcia being thrown out. Hader didn't come in with a double switch I don't think. I am probably wrong. Tough keeping up with these expanded rosters.
