  1. Geez ... why can't the Pirates offense go the Reds route and mail it in?
  2. Likely because Pina is not good either. Horse apiece. Uh, ok? I don't understand it either. There really is no other reason why a journeyman like Kratz would be getting the playing time he is, other than Pina really just not being a very good player. Pina was hot with the bat in August, but has cooled considerably. Taking that ball off his mouth has seemingly had a negative effect on his game.
  3. 'Bout time, Craig. Barnes needs to go into the same witness protection program as Albers and Lyles.
  4. Likely because Pina is not good either. Horse apiece.
  5. Don't know what Cervelli is yakking about. That pitch caught the bottom of the zone it seemed.
  6. I think I'm about ready for Jacob Barnes to go away.
  7. Cubs gotta play some good teams yet this season. The type of play they have had over the last couple days isn't going to hold up.
  8. Badger football misses a game-tying field goal literally the same second as Suarez grounds out to give the Cubs a 1-0 win. Pretty bad second. Suarez must have the cheapest 32 HRs ever. He's been horrible against the Cubs.
  9. The Cubs are doing what they should be doing against an inferior team. The Reds have absolutely nothing to play for at this point.
  10. Cardinals laying a big egg in their four-game set against the Dodgers, down 17-4 after dropping the first two. If they get swept, I would think it's going to be tough for them to stay in contention for one of the Wild Card spots. I can't say it wouldn't make me at least a little happy to see them out of the picture.
  11. Colorado may go to Chicago though. I think the central is still in doubt. That's fine. If the Brewers win the Central, they would likely have the best record in the National League, which would mean facing the Wild Card winner. If they beat out the Cubs, I have no problem facing either the Cubs or Rockies in the NLDS. Let the Braves and Dodgers beat up on each other.
  12. I think it would actually be best for the Cards and Dodgers to split the remaining two games in that series, keeping them tied in the standings. I hope the Nats beat Atlanta, obviously the Reds to beat the Cubs, and Arizona to beat Houston so they stay alive and have something to play for against the Cubs. Also want the Giants to beat the Rockies. I know a lot of you guys don't want to see the Dodgers in the playoffs, but they are likely in unless they go super cold the last couple weeks of the year.
  13. Yeah, that was high quality January baseball reading right there. Hot takes just flying. Obviously there were people who loved the deal, and people who hated it. Hopefully those who hated it, or were extremely upset by the prospects we gave up, have come around. Yelich truly has proven to be a special player.
  14. I agree on Moose. He's been a nice pickup. Solid middle-of-the-order bat, very good defensively, and seems like a well-liked team leader. I wouldn't have a problem at all if they considered keeping him for next year. Shaw has shown enough to say that he can be adequate at 2B defensively.
  15. And there it is! 22 over .500! This team is scorching hot right now. Keeping a ton of pressure on the Cubs.
  16. I felt like that when the Packers played the Bears in the NFC Championship game in 2011. The pain of losing to them and watch them go to the Super Bowl would have been greater than the joy of beating them. I was so nervous. That's the way I feel too. Losing to any team in the playoffs would be horrible. But losing to the Cardinals or Cubs in the playoffs would by cringe-worthy horrible.
  17. Dbacks are beating the Astros late. I agree that it is best for the Brewers for the DBacks to stay in contention.
  18. Logically, you are right. The Dodgers pose a much bigger threat in the playoffs on paper. I just don't like the Cardinals. Too much bad history there.
  19. Perez may be frustrating to watch hit, but the guy is a + defender at a bunch of spots.
  20. He's been frustrating to watch. Stuff is good. Always seems to get a couple easy outs, then gets in trouble.
  21. My preference would obviously be that neither make the playoffs, but barring a great run from the Diamondbacks, at least one almost assuredly is in.
  22. I don’t think the Cards losing to the Dodgers is a good thing. I do. I don't want the Cardinals anywhere near the playoffs.
  23. Cubs escape with a 3-2 win. That Reds pen is so, so bad. At least the Cardinals are down 3-0 late, and the Giants have an early lead on the Rockies.
  24. Because Strop hurt his hammy yesterday and is out at least a few weeks, and they really don't have anyone else.
