  1. Have to say that I am happy they knocked Harvey around after he was close to being a Brewer last week. Would have been pretty crappy had he pitched a gem against them tonight.
  2. His swing is so smooth. I think the power potential will only increase over the next few years. Could potentially be a yearly 35 HR guy. If he can stay above .300, he'll be a regular MVP candidate.
  3. Figured that might happen. Dodgers pen is horrible.
  4. Brewers Official Lineup: Cain CF Yelich RF Shaw 2B Braun LF Moustakas 3B Schoop SS Thames 1B Pina C Peralta P If they can't put runs on the board with that lineup, might as well call it a season.
  5. I agree ... I think the defensive downgrades have been overblown. Poor defense isn't the reason the pitchers are giving up bombs. Starters have been below average, as they have been all year, but the pen is where they are really getting killed right now. It's been Hader, Jeffress and a barrel of high-octane premium.
  6. Almost wonder if that was by design? Could you imagine how Gute is going to be viewed if they trade Hundley, get Rodgers' extension done, and complete a Mack trade/sign all in the matter of a few days? That dude would be able to walk on water in Green Bay for the next year!
  7. Oh no, not this can 'o worms again.
  8. Yep, this is salvaging something for a guy who will be gone following the season anyway. Lets face it ... if Rodgers goes down, this team is going to struggle regardless of who is playing QB. At least this way they are giving Kizer the reps and he will hopefully grow in the system. Kizer has more upside than Hundley. This also potentially opens up a roster spot at a different position, as they will likely only roster Rodgers and Kizer at the QB position (Boyle is ticketed for the PS). Perhaps they can hold onto an extra receiver now.
  9. Coulter is a minor league free agent, so I doubt he gets the call. Grisham or Ray would be good bets. I could see guys like Ponce or Kirby, too. Maybe Diplan.
  10. I'm not completely sure about that (Gausman). We were going to non-tender Villar even if he does have a decent 1.5 years of putting up empty stats for Baltimore. Phillips is completely lost at the plate, Ortiz can't strike out more than 8 batters per 9 in AA and supposedly has a live arm, Lopez is just a guy. Carmona is the lotto ticket. The O's got 2 or 3 lotto tickets for Gausman as well as an MLB caliber reliever that truly does throw gas and strike out a lot of MLB hitters. But if you ask some regulars around here, we "gutted the farm" in those three deals.
  11. I think it's more about the quality of the prospects that were acquired. None of the guys the Braves gave up for Gausman and O'Day were necessarily highly ranked. And you know the Cubs didn't give up anyone of significance, because they don't have anyone of significance in their system. Personally, I think the Brewers chose the wrong Oriole to acquire. I would have gladly given up the package they used on Schoop for Gausman.
  12. Is there any chance that Guerra is optioned out to get another pen arm up for the rest of this week?
  13. They seem to be looking at Jake Thompson as a potential power reliever at AAA. I like that move. His stuff is going to play well in the bullpen.
  14. I took your post as funny and sarcastic .... nothing more. I know you as a good poster who often lends positive attributes to a discussion. I did find it funny, though, that some of the posters that seemed "offended" were the ones who I see as the most combative here. I guess people in glass houses CAN throw stones.
  15. Chris Archer says hi. Could you even imagine if Stearns got Archer and he pitched the way he has? I couldn’t check the forum with all that mess going on. Yep, I wanted Archer, and hated the idea of trading for Hamels. It's a good thing I'm not the team's GM.
  16. It is frustrating, and I don't get it. But you can't pitch Jeffress and Hader in every game. If Soria (a top reliever) doesn't give up a two-run triple, it is tied. The pen coming back down to earth has made this team into a .500 squad.
  17. The short starts have doomed this team. I know some fans have said that bullpenning is the wave of the future, but if it worked, it would have been done already. Good starting pitching still wins championships.
  18. I sure hope so. His ERA for the year is now a paltry 7.24!! Giving Albers two years will go on the Stearns hall of Fame plaque as well. Look at Albers' contract. Then look at his numbers last year. When he was signed, it was lauded as a great move by pretty much everyone here.
  19. I don't think he has enough of a track record to have any kind of rating. Get him to year 5, then you can rate him. He's made some good moves and some crap moves. A lot are still TBD.
